  1. Not sure if I'm using the right term but I searched every think I could think of. It's likely it already exists so I apologize in advance. Is there a while to filter OUT. For instance if I wanted to see all movies EXCEPT a specific genre for example. I know I can filter to see all action movies for instance but how about filtering so it shows ALL BUT Horror. Is that possible now or even feasible as a future item? Thanks for taking time.

  2. I made these videos a few weeks ago showing off what Hyperion does with the backlighting. Total cost to setup everything was about $120 and it was well worth it, even the wife agrees. Its something you become immersed in and when its off you know something is not right with your viewing experience. Hyperion - Forum (hyperion-project.org) Amazon Parts List

  3. When setting up a new user I think it would be great if I could copy an existing user. Even better if you could copy certain aspects of a user like views , library access , parental settings

  4. Hi, Some of us listen to classical music and maintain extensive collections of it. Unfortunately, proper classical music sorting requires different metadata fields than pop music. For example, the composer field is not very important with pop music, but is a big requirement with classical music. Currently, Emby supports a single content type for music, which is tailored for pop music. It has views to list Artists, Album artists, Albums, Songs and Genre. I propose to create a second content type dedicated to classical music. This would be a very coherent move since there already are distinct content types for movies, series, concerts or home movies, even if they all deal with video files. The views of this new content type would better fit classical music: for example, we would be able to list music by composer or by conductor, but not by song as this does not mean anything in classical music. Furthermore, audio metadata support should be improved. Currently, Emby supports the Composer tag. That's great, but not enough to deal properly with a classical music collection. We need to support a bunch of other tags, like the Conductor, Performer and Orchestra tags. Adding support for such tags should not be very difficult, as many of them are part of the official ID3 specifications and already supported by ffprobe. Classical music support is a very important feature for me and some other people. So important that I would even pay to have it added to Emby. If I can help to build it, I would do it very happily. If developers do not wish to add those features, maybe it could be implemented by a 3rd-party plugin. In that case, could someone point me towards some kind of guide or tutorial to get started ? I know C# and .Net but have no idea about how Emby works with plugins, and how to extend the metadata schema. Thanks! Marin.

  5. One thing that I would like to see implemented is the abilty to display lyrics in all of the apps. For those of us who have libraries with lyrics embedded in the actual files, it would be trivial. Simply scrape the lyrics from the lyrics tag and display them. As far as scraping from online lyrics databases, I don't see that working very well as just about every app that I have seen use it either doesn't get the correct lyrics or they are truncated with an add for the website.

  6. As I mention in a related post, I love the additional subfolders for Movie Extras (eg, Shorts, Scenes, Interviews, etc.)! It would be awesome to extend this functionality to TV Series as well. Specifically to add support for many/all of the same folders supported for Movie Extras, eg, extras specials shorts scenes featurettes behind the scenes deleted scenes interviews trailers As well as any additional folders that get added in the future (eg, hopefully Galleries). Support Placement of "Extras" Folders Within Each Season Folder, Plus A Naming Scheme to Link A Particular Extras Folder with a Specific Episode (eg, "\Season 1\E1 - Deleted Scenes\" for episode 1 deleted scenes): I want to clarify that it would be great if these various "extras" folder types could reside within each Season folder. So for example, within a Season 1 folder we could then have an "Extras" folder, a "Deleted Scenes" folder, a "Featurettes" folder, etc. And furthermore, that we could designate a particular folder to refer to a specific episode (eg, "\Season 1\E1 - Deleted Scenes\" for episode 1 deleted scenes). See more below, particularly why I think this would be so useful: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/55915-emby-server-theater-additional-extrasspecial-folder-types-for-tv-series-similar-to-movies/&do=findComment&comment=587195 Thanks for your consideration! PS - If this is something you might like to see implemented, be sure to "Like" this top/first post (as well as any subsequent posts in this thread that highlight particular aspects of what you are interested in) -- "Liking" the top/first post helps the Devs to know how much interest there is in a given Feature Request.

  7. Does a lyrics plugin exist for Emby? Something to show the lyrics of a song while being played. It doesnt show in the Plugins catalog, so I assume one doesn't exist?

  8. It would be useful if the server (or perhaps clients) could cache most (if not all) content images (posters, backdrops, logos, etc) for movies, TV series and seasons. This would mainly be of benefit when a portion of someone's content is offline but the users would still like to view the content to know what exists. I think caching on the server would be preferable, then all clients could make use of the same cached images. if you think this would be a useful feature, please click the "Like This" button on this post.

  9. Say I have a custom collection of 56 Christmas movies. During the Holiday Season, I would like to show this on the main page as a Library. Now, I could make a drive folder called "Christmas" and put these movies in that folder. However, now we're getting away from using metadata for organization and moving back to using folders for organization. Something you've spent the last few years trying to get away from. So each collection should have a toggle to show it as a library on the Home Page. Then people can make collections for Christmas, Halloween, Summer Romance, Summer Slasher Films, whatever and show them on the front page where they are easily accessible. Don't want to show it anymore, switch the toggle off.

  10. Hello. Would be great to be able to adjust subitiles delay in Emby Theatre or Web client like we can in VLC with "H" and "J" shortcuts (up and down). Thanks !

  12. Is it too much trouble to have one copy with both soundtracks and also the subtitles, and to select the ones wanted on whatever occasion? You might still have to change it after autoplay, but at least you won't have to break the flow to select another version. Typically you have the length of the opening song to select the tracks you want before it matters. Alternatively, set up different users with the different libraries, and there would be no overlap once logged in as the required user. Paul

  14. Could we get drag and drop reordering for backdrops? If you have a lot of backdrops, reordering them can be a pain and time consuming with the arrows Thanks!

  15. Thanks for that; good to know - and no worries about as-yet-unknown timeframes. Aside from technical curiosity, my main reason for wanting to know was that I was considering a new 'server' machine and potentially looking to put transcoding-temp onto a RAM-drive... and the difference between capacity to handle a single stream of transcoding (my only actual use case) vs having to allow capacity for all parallel recordings (e.g. perhaps 4 multi-hour HD movies) could've been quite expensive in mostly-unused RAM! Now I know I can just plan on the basis of the more reasonable future-state scenario.

  17. Personally I would hold off on anything to do with thetvdb.com at the moment - it's moving to a subscription model and it may need a paid subscription to use. There are many alternative free providers out there - so personally I will not be paying to use it's content if and when the time comes ...

  18. Thank you for taking the time to look into this. The hardware acceleration speedup isn't much but it makes the transcoding speed more than 1x and is the difference between choppy and smooth playback. Thanks again. Software devs aren't appreciated much, but I appreciate the work you guys do!

  21. I have disabled video transcoding for remote clients. It would be nice to for instance only show the movies with h264 codec for compatibility. However when I enable the filter, "group movies to collections" no longer works. I know this is by design but it would be nice to be able to override it.

  22. To be honest, I dont remember where I read that. I probably just did a google search and it was on an old post. Someone said it was Apple that was taking the $7 for their work. LOL. The GREAT news is I upgraded to Premium and installed the app on Apple products and I did not have to pay the additional $7 activation fee. Keep up the GREAT works guys! Thank you!.

  26. I have about 2 million songs, but stopped putting them into Emby around 400.000, as I tag and validate each file separately and mostly manually The main issue with E4K (at least the old version) as I said is memory and speed, and I know you know that . But I always had other strange problems when syncing libraries using E4K after a certain number of files in Emby. For example, I have separate libraries in Emby for movies, TV, music, audiobooks, etc., and the files are stored in different folders, sometimes even disks. But when syncing e.g. with E4K the movie library to Kodi, it picks up stuff from the other libraries (e.g. music as well), which is really weird. In Kodi, I always play music by selecting/searching an album, haven't experienced any significant delays in this, but thanks for the links.

  29. It will use the first track since it is AAC if you direct play. It will also downmix on the device to AAC 2.0 if you leave the option to "Convert Multi-Channel AAC" to NO. If this is set to YES it will convert to AC3 and keep surround sound. Convert = use Emby server to transcode the audio. Roku cannot play back Multi-Channel AAC Audio.

  31. I don't think it is only you. I think Bill and I both can't test it because we don't have the hardware. That being said, if it is happening in your setup it is most likely happening in all the setups, but the plugin might not be in wide use. I have time tomorrow to work on this. We'll fix it, and appreciate your time here in this thread.

  36. It's really great the way the theme audio continues when navigating through info on a movie or series and fades when leaving. It would be great if the audio of video backdrops faded out also when leaving.

  39. Thanks. I finally figured it out, and I didn't even think to check to logs until you mentioned it. So the issue was that Emby needs to take ownership of the pfx file. Didn't figure that out until someone said. So, the process is as follows for anyone that needs a solution: -> Open port 80 and 443 Generate standalone certificate -> #certbot -certonly --standalone -d my.ddns.net Create a PFX file -> #openssl pkcs12 -export -out certificate.pfx -inkey privkey.pem -in cert.pem -certfile chain.pem -passout pass: Change file ownership to emby -> #chown -R emby:emby certificate.pfx NOTES: There are apparently other ways to automate the generation of certificates, I just haven't had time to explore these options
