  2. For those needing immediate relief, I believe this is already resolved in the 4.6.0.6 beta channel. I apologize for the issue. I can see there is one more change I missed when backporting the updates from 4.6 to 4.5, and that's what caused this. Just be aware that if you do go up to the 4.6 beta. you cannot roll back to 4.5 later due to database changes. You will have to wait for 4.6 stable to be released in the next month or two. We'll have a 4.5.4 update out in the coming days to correct this. Workaround in the meantime is to not create a conversion job on a top level folder, or use the 4.6 beta.

  3. Be able to create playlist based on a certain criteria, like genre and or year, in order to create a dynamic playlist that it refreshes automatically when new content is added. This way you can for example, create a tv comedy playlist from the 90's, or a new sci-fi Movies playlist. Some other criteria for rules could be the rating, watched/unwantched, score, tags, language, audio codec, etc The possibilities could be endless

  4. Feature Request: Have User Groups and all settings applied at the Group Level That way you can just assign users to the appropriate Group and all settings will be inheritated.

  5. I am switching over from a Win7 box running MBC to Chromecast dongles. With the Win7 box I had a HDMI to Cat6 setup that allowed me to stream to up to 4 displays/TVs simultaneously. It was great while it lasted, but involved stapling cables to the ceiling to run it from room to room - plus it has borked Can there be an option to multi-cast to several receivers at once? i.e. simultaneously play to Chromecast dongles in my office and living room and kitchen simultaneously so i can walk from room to room without stopping and restarting the movie or show all the time? I realize that bandwidth could POTENTIALLY be an issue, but i have a fill gigabit network and a multi-port NAS so that really is the least of my worries... Thank you!

  6. While Emby already has recommendations built in based on previously watched items I find they are not all that helpful. They seem to be based on genre only, for example, because you watched a comedy here are other comedies in your library. I do like how the also directed by/appear in recommendations work though. What would be great is if Emby could incorporate Trakt's recommendations as they are much more sophisticated. Trakt's recommendations are not only based off of what you have previously watched but also what your Trakt friends and other Trakt users have watched. It takes user ratings and trending/popular media into account. Ideally Emby would include full Trakt integration allowing users to rate media after watching, view lists and recommendations, and view upcoming media all from within Emby but for now I think recommendations would be a nice addition. Trakt has the potential to give Emby that community feel and allow users to discover new media, find something to watch, and recommend media to other users. http://docs.trakt.apiary.io/#reference/recommendations

  7. Feature Request. A present I have several user accounts setup for family members. When we sit down together to watch a movie we currently log into one account (Mostly mine), so obviously only this account gets the watched status. What happens then is everyone uses my account because there's isn't up-to date and it's "just easier". This results in my account telling me I've watched something when I haven't... I would like the ability to log into my account and select/deselect which other users are present so that when a movie/TV episode is watched together, their watched statuses are updated accordingly? The next time you log in again all other users would have been deselected. It could be implemented so each user account can do this, or only select user accounts can. Even a special "Family" user account, or multiple viewers button as long as everyone's watched status is correct. Even just ticking the users present on the login screen before login into an account.

  8. I would like to be able to mark individual media items or even perhaps entire libraries to be excluded from media scans. If I have retrieved all the metadata and images I want for a particular TV series or Music collection and I know that the files will never change and the metadata should never change, I would like to be able to exclude it from scans to a ) reduce scan time b ) decrease the likelihood of unwanted changes being made c ) reduce network utilization I've noticed that even with series that have not had any new episodes in years (and no changes have been made in my filesystem) there is still information being downloaded from metadata providers. I suppose that is to check to make sure it is current/complete, but it is a waste of my network resources which are not plentiful. Perhaps this could be implemented by adding the option to not rescan media that has been marked as locked.

  9. I would find it useful to use Emby in the car under Android Auto. Kind regards, Paul Roelandse

  11. Yes, happens especially if after sync if the artwork was not cached. I've removed some skin-reloads for testing cause they take quite a lot time. Mostly it's not required, but sometimes they really are. I'm working already on a solution. Yes, I will do that especially on player events like start, stop, pause etc.

  13. I'm seeing a lot of issues with this stable release. Is there a fix coming very soon? Maybe this release should be pulled until it is properly sorted. I've used Emby since MB 2.x.x and haven't seen this many issues in a stable release in several years.

  15. @Luke I've helped users remotely tripped up on this. Could we add a little blurb to the web setup screen for this if they choose UK and Emby Guide Data?

  16. Rokus that support aac will still turn 5.1 aac into stereo. So Emby transcodes 5.1 aac in order to preserve the 5.1 channel data. Stereo aac won't trigger transcoding.

  17. Please provide the ffmpeg logs Nerd Stats should tell you why also. AAC issue Multichannel AAC is not supported on all Roku models. Roku TVs, Roku 4, and Roku Ultra set-top-boxes support multichannel decode to PCM stereo. Stream copy is not transcoding but yes the server needs a place to store the segemented media for this different method. If you do not enable Transcode throttling, Emby will transcode the entire item. Where throttling will transcode about 2 minutes of playback pauses and transcode as needed to keep up with playback. Moving to Roku Section.

  19. @quickmic here is most of what I know about how video backdrops work. In Emby these are collected at least for me via four server plugins. There is a separate respective plugin for Movie, or TV theme songs or videos, and they require Emby premier to show up in at least the Emby clients but most likely Kodi also. When Emby collects these, it places them in a folder titled backdrops for each video, and names the backdrop theme.mp4. For these backdrops to show in Kodi, the Kodi plugin TV tunes is required, and the skin has to support them, or at least the skin cannot cover up the videos on pages like the movie details page. I have at least heard the music playing for a video backdrop in every kodi skin I have tried so I think as long as the skin author doesn’t cover up the fanart backdrop then theme videos will work in the skin. For testing I know these worked in Embuary although there is no explicit support in that skin for video backdrops. TV Tunes can be configured to play the backdrops either while browsing video list views, or only on the video details page, which is how I leave it configured. Before the themes will play in Kodi, I have to run a command in Emby for Kodi to sync theme media, which still works in the current versions of 4.x you have been pushing out. Synch theme media has some user documentation here: Actions · MediaBrowser/plugin.video.emby Wiki · GitHub I also have to specify a directory in Kodi via the TV Tunes settings where TV Tunes will store the sync’ed videos. After I sync them I can then go to said directory, and I will see a copy of my theme media there. I’m guessing E4k just points TV Tunes to the location of the theme videos on Emby Server when I run the sync command, and TV Tunes moves them into Kodi’s directory, then the skin has to do all the work from there. Additionally there is an option in TV Tunes to use local trailers where a video backdrop doesn’t exist, and that has never worked in E4k as far as I’m aware. I asked for the feature to be added right after AngelBlue dropped support but I could never get it pushed through. TeamB helped out a little, and pointed me to a code snippet that might help located here: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/plugin.video.emby/blob/647af73c74c3bd4dbd1e057bd0be4ddcccaa8ae6/resources/lib/entrypoint/default.py#L1023 So My feature request these: -Continue support for video backdrops via the synch theme media command -Add a button the E4k options menu that performs said sync (it was removed in some version before you took over but used to be there). -Add support for sync’ing local trailers where theme media doesn’t exist. The support thread for TV Tunes is located here: TvTunes (584) (kodi.tv) I can also get ahold of latts9923 and see if he can help. I hope I have explained everything so that it is clear enough, and if you have any questions I will try my best to answer them based on my limited knowledge of how things work. Thanks again for working on this.

  20. Confirmed! This was the solution. I needed to install the Kodi Companion server plugin. Thank you for your help!

  21. Wow! I didn't know that was there! Set it to max and it is working with no transcoding. Performance seems fine, other than some expected delay when skipping forward/back. Only thing I'm not 100% sure of now is whether the HDR is actually working. The image is not "washed out" like it was when being trancoded...however it seems a little "less colorful" than when watching it directly off a USB stick plugged into my TV.

  24. shut the emby server down and delete the activity.db file restart server activity.db will be recreated (blank) Repeat as often as you need or setup a simple script to do it Not perfect but as a work around will work fine.
