  1. That is a loaded question as not every app is capable of the exact same formats.

  2. When will this be available for Windows PC - Emby Theater and Android TV?

  3. I would like to see a plug-in developed which allows for transcoding to be offset. My thoughts are for a transcoding server (high powered pc), running cut-down/transcoding only version of Emby. Then on my main Emby server a plug-in which offsets transcoding to the high powered pc (if available) Originally I had thought of this as being a high availability server https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/41443-emby-server-high-availability But thinking about this more, my requirement isn't for high availability but simply to offset the transcoding elsewhere.

  4. I've been dying to know if this has garnered enough interest to be worked on. I found Emby (MediaBrowser 3 at the time) and its bookshelf plugin while I was searching for something that was like Plex for comics. Plex doesn't do this (and probably never will), Kodi doesn't have what I'm looking for either, and ComicRack seems to be dead at the moment. Unfortunately the bookshelf plugin doesn't work the way I had hoped. I was dissappointed to see it only offer a download to the file to which I can open it to the program of my choosing. Even browsing through the books I only had the option of going through folder-like directories and couldn't browse by author like the people section in the other media types. I would love for it to be fully integrated into Emby where I can open and read a comic right on my phone and tablet or even my web browser as I could with my movies and tv shows. Also, I hope to god somone is working on the "Games launching in android" feature you mentioned on your up-for-grabs blog post. That would be awesome!

  5. Hello. Would be great to be able to adjust subitiles delay in Emby Theatre or Web client like we can in VLC with "H" and "J" shortcuts (up and down). Thanks !

  6. I am just throwing something out there which I have been thinking of for a while. There are many requests like this one considering some customization options. I think more customization is always good but there are of course 2 levels, user customization and server customization. I would like to see an option for some server side customization to enable/disable features for all users at the same time. For example the "upcoming" section, or "favorites" which could then be disabled server side so no user sees this. Also that the server can set a certain lay-out (continue watching as first section, my media, etc.) which then would have every user see the sections in that order. Perhaps this is annoying since some might want a different order, but it would help with when new users get this basic setup in case they get confused by the amount of information on screen (thinking about my parents for example). I'm not sure this is possible seeing as things might get reset everytime when the server changes something and other more experienced users could get annoyed when they have set things up the way they like and it gets reset. However I would love to have some more customization options of deleting things from view, and not having to do this for each user but being able to set this up for myself, kids and parents in an easier way. Maybe having this server sided as well as per user might cause trouble with eachother? But while I got things set up properly for the first account, when adding a second you have to start all over with the lay-out/interface. Was also thinking about server sided customization of the background (not just webversion CSS, since that won't change things in Emby Theatre, TV app, or android app). For example a slider for the opacity of the background would be nice since I think the movie backgrounds (or tv show backgrounds for that matter) are often somewhat dark. I get that that is what makes them backgrounds, but I would still like them to pop out a little more when looking at movie information and actors. With the CSS this is possible to make it a bit brighter which I think is nice. Sadly this does not translate to the other apps.

  7. Why is the Halloween theme not kicking in automatically this year?

  10. No, it's not Exo, it's mpv. It's much better. I'll attach it and you can try it. Just unzip the folder anywhere you want. In that folder, you'll see the Installer folder. Open that and run the mpv-install.bat. And then just double click on one of your videos and it should simply play. mpv.zip

  12. I made it. I used a plexi two way mirror, and a Phillips monitor, with the bezel removed. Then I used a raspi. The plexi two way mirror was from Amazon.

  17. MagicMirror.zip I think this is it. I don't remember how to use it. It's been a while. I'll look over the code and try to remember what it does. However once it's installed you can check the swaggerUI for the endpoint and see what it says.

  20. It will be cool if we would be able to change the order of the library in the server settings so that the order becomes available to all users in the homescreen, currently it can only be change per user in the Home Screen settings. Right now I have to login to each user to change the order of the library in the home screen.

  21. Note, for instance, that if you are using the CRF setting, values for h.265 are in a different range from those for h.264. The Handbrake documentation doesn't mention this. Values 3 to 5 larger are likely to give equivalent quality. Paul

  22. the size difference is likely to be the bitrate of the output file bigger size usually the average bit rate will be higher this is down to the settings you have used with ffmpeg handbrake has many defaults and usually they are aggressive by default - so smaller files size - not always a good encode result - i used it a few years ago but have found if you invest the time in ffmpeg options you get a better result thats in your control and less of a black box cpu encoding although slower generally gives you a smaller size for the "same" settings vs a gpu encode - but this is significantly quicker at the expense of slightly bigger file sizes so its a trade off in the end - but can quickly become a rabbit hole you disappear down chasing the difference between options but if you cant tell much if any difference when watching the output and you made a space gain in the process - maybe time to stop

  23. I solved the CPU utilization problem, let's see if it solves the other problem....I went into the config file and switched it to ffmpeg being the first to try instead of handbrake and now ffmpeg is encoding in about the same time but using 50% less CPU.

  24. Don't worry, I'm a stubborn German....I never give up and you're right, I will get it I am just frustrated is all. I just checked the H.264 encoding I made of the same file and it is 500 MB smaller than the H.265 so something is way borked up here.

  27. Hi @Luke , everyone's answers where super helpful, thx! It was very cool of @cayars and @Happy2Play to hit me back with their offers of help and suggestions. Right after I made the initial post I just uninstalled and re-installed Emby Server...I was being a little impatient (that's my fault tho...).

  28. Hi Thanks for keeping this project going, I just side loaded into laptop Windows 10 Kodi 18.8, and dual booting windows10/Libreelec The results on both platforms is amazing, playback is very fast, the only concern that I observed is shouting down Libreelec takes a while to complete. let me know if you need a log report. Thanks this awesome, one last question, is the addon ready to be tested on Kodi 19 or not

  29. Emby is a C# app, windows supports INotify, nas mounted shares thus likely support it. This is the Linux forum.

  31. Hi, Is it Google Drive? You may be able to use https://rclone.org/commands/rclone_mount/ which a lot of people use. With that said accessing media across the Internet isn't always super reliable but is a cheap means of storage.

  35. Damn it.... my sister wants "keeping up with the kardatshians" on my server. I dont want to see new episodes of it pop up under "latest TV shows" in my user homescreen. It would be nice if i could right-click/long-press on a recent episode and "hide this show from homepage" for my user account.

  36. Hi, we don't currently have an option for this, but i think it's a good idea to add in the future. Thanks for the feedback.

  37. THIS ASSUMES THAT YOU ARE USING WINDOWS AND THAT YOU KEPT THE DEFAULT INSTALL PATHS FOR HDHOMERUN SOFTWARE. If you open HD Homerun setup you can find your Homerun ID from there. Write that down and make sure that you have it exactly. From there open notepad and copy and paste this into notepad. c:\Program Files\Silicondust\HDHomeRun\hdhomerun_config.exe" <Homerunid> set /sys/restart self Replace <Homerunid> with the id that you have just found through the HD Homerun setup. Finally save this file on your desktop or somewhere where you can easily access it, but when you save it change the dropdown box where it says File type: text file to all files and give it a .bat extension. In a situation where your HDHomeRun box is locked up or the tuners are not freeing themselves from Emby you can just execute that file. It will send a reboot command to your HDHomeRun box instead of having to reboot your emby server. I find that's a better situation than booting others off of Emby for a device that is not actually Emby's.

  38. This isn't working for you because you're assuming that read permissions are enough to browse that folder as other, in unix systems directories require the executable bit to list their contents. From reading your post, your folders need 775 and files 664, there's an easy way to do this using the capital "X" parameter of chmod; this will ensure that only directories are executable. So: chmod -R u+rwX /Movies chmod -R g+rwX /Movies chmod -R o+r-X /Movies Contrary to above chmod -R g+s is not setting the sticky bit, but setting the gid, this ensures that all new files/folders inherit the parent group. Again setting the default permissions for new files, as noted above can be achieved with acls - which also support the capital "X" parameter: setfacl -R -d -m u::rwX /Movies setfacl -R -d -m g::rwX /Movies setfacl -R -d -m o::r-X /Movies It really all depends on how you want things set up, for me I wanted four things: To have a common group that allowed write access on my folders. For all new files within those folders to be owned by that common group automatically. For all new files to be writable by that common group. To still allow those permissions to be overridden on a case-by-case basis. I wrote a small script for another user on the forum, a while ago that does all the above for you: #!/bin/bash # -------------------------------------------------- # Usage: script.sh <username> <group> <path> # -------------------------------------------------- declare -r USERNAME="$1" declare -r GROUP="$2" declare -r MEDIA_DIRECTORY="$3" function tests { local thisScript=`basename "$0"` # Check for arguments if [ -z "$USERNAME" ] || [ -z "$GROUP" ] || [ -z "$MEDIA_DIRECTORY" ]; then echo "Usage: $thisScript <username> <group> <directory>" exit 1 fi # Does the user exist? if ! id "$USERNAME" >/dev/null 2>&1; then echo "The user $USERNAME does not exist!" exit 1 fi # Does the group exist? if [ ! `getent group "$GROUP"` ]; then echo "The group $GROUP does not exist!" exit 1 fi # Does the path exist? if [ ! -d "$MEDIA_DIRECTORY" ]; then echo "The path $MEDIA_DIRECTORY does not exist!" exit 1 fi # Am I root? if [ "$(id -u)" != "0" ]; then echo "This script must be run as root!" echo "Trying sudo..." sudo sh "$0" "$USERNAME" "$GROUP" "$MEDIA_DIRECTORY" exit $? fi } function cleanup { # Cleanup any leftover acls / execute bits chmod -R a-x "$MEDIA_DIRECTORY" setfacl -R -bn "$MEDIA_DIRECTORY" } function ownership { # Set ownership and set gid chown -R "$USERNAME":"$GROUP" "$MEDIA_DIRECTORY" chmod -R g+s "$MEDIA_DIRECTORY" } function permissions { # Set conservative permissions chmod -R u+rwX "$MEDIA_DIRECTORY" chmod -R g+rwX "$MEDIA_DIRECTORY" chmod -R o+rX "$MEDIA_DIRECTORY" } function acls { # Enforce default permissions via acls setfacl -R -d -m u::rwX "$MEDIA_DIRECTORY" setfacl -R -d -m g::rwX "$MEDIA_DIRECTORY" setfacl -R -d -m o::r-X "$MEDIA_DIRECTORY" } tests && \ sleep 0.5 && \ cleanup >/dev/null 2>&1 && \ sleep 0.5 && \ ownership >/dev/null 2>&1 && \ sleep 0.5 && \ permissions >/dev/null 2>&1 && \ sleep 0.5 && \ acls >/dev/null 2>&1 && \ echo "Done." I've also noted that a lot of people are using more permissive masks on their filesystems, which negates the need to do a lot of the above. I don't like that idea, the above is a fairly robust solution that I've been doing for a number of years.

  39. The metadata editor doesn't appear to allow you to do anything but add or delete people as far as I can tell. I suppose you could delete everyone and add them back in the order you wanted, since the order does appear to match, but that seems a little painful. Perhaps either drag-n-drop or arrows to rearrange them would be a decent Feature Request.
