For Example - When in the artist home page - it would be nice to have the option to Skip to the next Artist Home page Rather than backing out and clicking on the next artist So a forward and back icon next to the metadata edit and image edit icons at the top would be a good addition - not on the more menu as that adds another click This could be applied to any item type e.g. Movies/Tv Series/Seasons etc and even Albums and Music Videos etc A simple usability addition which would make navigation simpler - especially if you are checking data or comparing data etc - besides the basic nice to have issue and less clicks to get to another items home page etc.5 points

Be able to create playlist based on a certain criteria, like genre and or year, in order to create a dynamic playlist that it refreshes automatically when new content is added. This way you can for example, create a tv comedy playlist from the 90's, or a new sci-fi Movies playlist. Some other criteria for rules could be the rating, watched/unwantched, score, tags, language, audio codec, etc The possibilities could be endless1 point

I've been dying to know if this has garnered enough interest to be worked on. I found Emby (MediaBrowser 3 at the time) and its bookshelf plugin while I was searching for something that was like Plex for comics. Plex doesn't do this (and probably never will), Kodi doesn't have what I'm looking for either, and ComicRack seems to be dead at the moment. Unfortunately the bookshelf plugin doesn't work the way I had hoped. I was dissappointed to see it only offer a download to the file to which I can open it to the program of my choosing. Even browsing through the books I only had the option of going through folder-like directories and couldn't browse by author like the people section in the other media types. I would love for it to be fully integrated into Emby where I can open and read a comic right on my phone and tablet or even my web browser as I could with my movies and tv shows. Also, I hope to god somone is working on the "Games launching in android" feature you mentioned on your up-for-grabs blog post. That would be awesome!1 point

What about adding new option to link calibre to emby as the plugin to link emby to kodi so we can have all our books ready to download via interface of emby .If we want, we can link the calibre libraries to emby, so we can use all the abilities of calibre of conversion and cover fetching etc then display the resultant libraries in emby I think this can be added by one of three ways: 1-Connect to calibre content server 2-use the db file found in every calibre library and read it to present the book without interfacing with calibre at all but using ready made libraries directly 3-parse the opf files of books to create the database of books of Emby1 point

I love the additional subfolders for Movie Extras (eg, Shorts, Scenes, Interviews, etc.)! I would like to propose an additional folder: "Galleries". Within the Galleries folder the user would place subfolders (only one level of nesting) and each subfolder could contain any images the user chooses. Then, Emby would display the subfolder name as an Extra (in Emby Theater) and opening that extra would launch an image gallery of the containing images. For example: Movies\Disney\The Sword In The Stone (1963)\Galleries\Scrapbook Movies\Disney\The Sword In The Stone (1963)\Galleries\Film Facts "Scrapbook" is what would be listed among other Extras in Emby Theater, and the Scrapbook folder contains various images to be displayed in a slideshow that the user can navigate with their left/right arrows. This feature request is motivated by the following related post: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/55912-video-ts-folder-no-longer-recognized-in-movie-extras-folder/ Basically, sometimes there are extras such as image galleries and text content which are only available via the DVD menu. I have found that I can use FFMPEG to extract all the frames from a video file, and so use that on the appropriate VOB file from the original DVD. Then I can use VisiPics to delete all the duplicates, resulting in content I can then sort into folders (eg, Concept Art, Storyboards, etc.). All I need is for there to be the above support for a Galleries extras folder, which could contain multiple subfolders (only one level deep), each containing images to be displayed as image galleries in Emby Theater, etc. Thanks for your consideration! PS - If this is something you might like to see implemented, be sure to "Like" this top/first post (as well as any subsequent posts in this thread that highlight particular aspects of what you are interested in) -- "Liking" the top/first post helps the Devs to know how much interest there is in a given Feature Request.1 point

While Emby already has recommendations built in based on previously watched items I find they are not all that helpful. They seem to be based on genre only, for example, because you watched a comedy here are other comedies in your library. I do like how the also directed by/appear in recommendations work though. What would be great is if Emby could incorporate Trakt's recommendations as they are much more sophisticated. Trakt's recommendations are not only based off of what you have previously watched but also what your Trakt friends and other Trakt users have watched. It takes user ratings and trending/popular media into account. Ideally Emby would include full Trakt integration allowing users to rate media after watching, view lists and recommendations, and view upcoming media all from within Emby but for now I think recommendations would be a nice addition. Trakt has the potential to give Emby that community feel and allow users to discover new media, find something to watch, and recommend media to other users. http://docs.trakt.apiary.io/#reference/recommendations1 point

Hi, I created emby plugin that gives ability to create smart playlists. It works just like iTunes smart playlists -> based on specified rules, playlists will be automatically updated during library changes. to set rules user must have rights to manage the server rules are specified inside plugin configuration section(in current logged user context): "Manage Emby Server" -> "Advanced" -> "SmartPlaylist". name of smart playlist determines which playlist will be updated playlist will be created automatically if did not exist before playlist will always be updated after saving rules user can set 3 types of update:Live -> update playlist if library changes with conditions -> update after 1000 changed items or update after 2 minutes of inactivity or update after 5 minutes Manual -> update playlist only after saving rules ShuffleDaily/ShuffleWeekly/ShuffleMonthly -> update playlist daily/weekly/monthly rules can be grouped groups can be nested strings are compared in case insensitive manner tested on Windows/Linux with Emby 4.4.0.16 beta Feel free to test. v1.3.0.0(v0.9.1.0 - for emby 4.3.1.0): filter by: Actor\GuestStar, Director, Path, Tags, ReleaseDate, ParentalRating, CommunityRating, Runtime sort by: SortName, ReleaseDate, ParentalRating, CommunityRating, Runtime, Episode(combination of SeriesName and SortName) fix setting proper MediaType for new playlists fix Random sort removed Series MediaType -> use Series criteria instead v1.2.0.0: filter by series -> add "MediaType: Series" and criteria: "Episode Name", "Series" filter by movie name Source code: https://github.com/ppankiewicz/Emby.SmartPlaylist.Plugin SmartPlaylist v0.9.0.0 - for emby 4.3.1.0.zip SmartPlaylistv1.2.0.0.zip SmartPlaylist v1.3.0.0.zip SmartPlaylist v0.9.1.0-foremby4.3.1.0.zip1 point

My apologies if there is already a feature request for this, I searched but couldn't find anything. My experience is with the Roku and Android TV apps but it may apply to other apps as well. With the "Up Next" and "Recently Added" rows on the homescreen one almost never needs to dig down deeper to find something to watch. A view I think is missing is a random unwatched movie view which would allow more spontaneous selections when you can't decide what to watch. I am an indecisive person and when given a choice of a 1000 movies I will never decide on one, but give me a choice of 20 movies and I will find something quick. I realize this would be a personal preference having this view so if it could be made an option like how the "Show Premieres Row" currently works in the Android TV app everyone would be satisfied. Yes I am aware of the filtering options but the point is to take as much user intervention out of the process and help one pick a movie they might have not otherwise chosen.1 point

It would be great if we could open the on screen live tv guide by the dedicated guide action with every video, not only when we watch live tv. With dedicated guide action i don't mean the "Up" button, but the "Options" or "Guide" button we can already use on some remotes or in case of Amazon devices the "Menu" button. Currently these buttons will open the standard osd when playing library items. That's redundant because we can do this already by pressing "Down" or "Info". So when we get the possibility to open the osd guide we won't loose but gain a feature. And for people that don't have those extra buttons on their remote, they won't miss anything.1 point

Yes, it's all fixed now: Hardware decoders will no longer be chosen for mpeg2video with profile 4:2:2 (none of them supports this) It is not longer necessary to disable the MP2 hardware decoder . Video color format will always be converted to YUV420 (= nv12) in hardware (second red arrow below) Encoding H.264 with YUV422 is legal, but browser support for this varies, that's why it had been working in some cases for you but not always. The fix will be included in the next beta version. Thanks for reporting!1 point

I'm not sure if this has been brought up before or not, but I couldn't find it with the search function. I've got a channel set up to only play "Walt Disney Classics", but I've only got 23 titles in this category (each using a custom tag); I've got "Continuous Playback (Live)" set up for this channel, as well as sorting by "Random Movies" and that seems to work fine, but once the plugin has gone through these titles, the channel is blank until I force a guide refresh (which sets all of my other channels back to playing TV shows from the very first episode again). Is there any way to have the plugin loop through titles, even if they've been played already? To keep it simpler, I'd even be fine with it to just loop the entire playlist that was generated on the last guide refresh (until some kind of algorithm was figured out to properly randomize it, while still keeping episodes ordered, etc.)1 point

Someone wrote a PS script to create extrafanart and move the appropriate jpg files. You could use that in the meanwhile. Emby still supports the folder, it just doesn't create them anymore. I run it from Win10 to my server on Synology.1 point

You will have dueling systems as Actors exist in Movies and TV so the two libraries have different provider orders so who would have the higher priority? The image above can from The Simpsons. https://thetvdb.com/people/255156 The issue is TVDB does a Character image per show, looks like movies also now. So the only current way to avoid this is not having TVDB as the first provider (that I am aware of). I assume the new api will have a options of media character image or the person image. But we have no idea if Emby will be using TVDB in the near future with the Subscription route they are going.1 point

It's not about validation, but the ability to see the format through Emby client. Adding it to SFN would be really an awesome feature. Another scenario is when my receiver shows Atmos when Emby shows TrueHD. So adding atmos to the SFN will be cool as well.1 point

Yes we'd like to do that but first the tools the server uses have to support it and then the server has to support it and then we'll get it in the apps. Thanks.1 point

Not all TVs show that. It would be better to show it in Emby client also. Additionally, would it be possible to get info on these "special formats" to the UI where info about a movie or an episode is shown? For example, show if an audio track is Dolby Atmos in addition that it is for example, TrueHD. Also show if the video is Dolby Vision in addition to HDR.1 point

Not sure what is going on as it looks like you go info from TVDB 7 time (4 in English, 3 in Swedish), the another Refresh 3 in English, 3 in Swedish. I don't see the initial query for the series but you go a en.zip first and it does not provide links for the image. en banner.xml <Banners></Banners> sv banner.xml <Banners> <Banner> <id>62368558</id> <BannerPath>series/389761/backgrounds/5f8e81d18a7db.jpg</BannerPath> <BannerType>fanart</BannerType> <BannerType2>1920x1080</BannerType2> <Language>sv</Language> <Season/> <Colors/> <Rating>0.00</Rating> <RatingCount>0</RatingCount> <SeriesName>false</SeriesName> <ThumbnailPath>series/389761/backgrounds/5f8e81d18a7db_t.jpg</ThumbnailPath> <VignettePath>series/389761/backgrounds/5f8e81d18a7db_t.jpg</VignettePath> </Banner> <Banner> <id>62365771</id> <BannerPath>series/389761/posters/5f8ad1198439c.jpg</BannerPath> <BannerType>poster</BannerType> <BannerType2>680x1000</BannerType2> <Language>sv</Language> <Season/> <Colors/> <Rating>0.00</Rating> <RatingCount>0</RatingCount> <SeriesName>false</SeriesName> <ThumbnailPath>series/389761/posters/5f8ad1198439c_t.jpg</ThumbnailPath> <VignettePath>series/389761/posters/5f8ad1198439c_t.jpg</VignettePath> </Banner> </Banners> I am guessing preference is not set or properly following language options. But can not see the true show query only the language zips by id. What is the Emby Display/system language? What is your library and image language option set to? I had no issues testing this setting library Preferred metadata download language, Country, and Preferred image download language to Swedish. 2020-10-26 14:14:47.463 Info HttpClient: GET https://www.thetvdb.com/api/GetSeries.php?seriesname=Lyckoviken+(2020)&language=sv 2020-10-26 14:14:48.518 Info HttpClient: GET https://www.thetvdb.com/api/GetSeries.php?seriesname=Lyckoviken&language=sv 2020-10-26 14:14:49.104 Info HttpClient: GET https://www.thetvdb.com/api/B89CE93890E9419B/series/389761/all/sv.zip 2020-10-26 14:14:50.285 Info HttpClient: GET https://www.thetvdb.com/banners/series/389761/posters/5f8ad1198439c.jpg 2020-10-26 14:14:50.532 Info HttpClient: GET https://www.thetvdb.com/banners/series/389761/backgrounds/5f8e81d18a7db.jpg 2020-10-26 14:14:51.140 Info HttpClient: GET https://www.thetvdb.com/banners/series/389761/episodes/5f8e7ef9d6783.jpg1 point

For anyone else here is a quick fix. UPDATE MediaItems SET Images = NULL WHERE type=23 AND Images LIKE 'https://image.tmdb.org%'; This removes good and bad TMDB urls. Then do a Refresh-Search for Missing or Refresh all if you like to repopulate image urls. Don't have a system with bad urls, but modifying a couple to bad urls seemed to work.1 point

Couldn't you do this now by using a collection to hold recommendations? Then all need is notification of additions.1 point

Just be sure you are aware that those instructions are for the beta version. For the latest release go here https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/releases/ and replace the pkg add -f release with the latest stable1 point

yes - library size is irrelevant - just make sure you have a backup db file you may need other fields set to null - depends on somebody (nobody has yet) actually testing further and which problem you are trying to fix.1 point

For TrueNAS core, there are 2 default options for Emby in Plugins under community. "Emby" (NAT) and "Emby Server" (DHCP). You can also create a jail and use the FreeBSD instructions at https://emby.media/freebsd-server.html.1 point

I dont have this issue but.... i modified the sql a bit so it's more specific to the problem rather than nuking all images from all items! UPDATE MediaItems SET Images = NULL WHERE type=23 type 23 are people so this removes the references for all image for just people running the scheduled task - refresh people - makes emby look again and pulls the images from the cache i believe Now just doing that may not be enough to fix the problem - but you can add in the other Set X - Null if they are really needed note if you need to do other media types - say Artists then they are type 13 So.. UPDATE MediaItems SET Images = NULL WHERE type=23 or type=13 A library scan brings the Artist Images back1 point

@bonbonking that's really not true at all, and you can see for yourself by looking at the commit histories on the repositories. Let's take the server repository for example: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/graphs/contributors From some quick math, our paid staff was responsible for roughly 98% of the commits, and I am solely responsible for 95% of them alone. You'll see similar numbers in the other repositories. By the way, guess where the majority of our paid staff comes from: community members and volunteer contributors. Over the years we've rewarded and hired our community members who have shown interest, strong technical ability and initiative to get involved. So really, we are not bad people. We're just a team of software developer (and others) who are trying to earn a living.1 point

Is it possible to adjust the subtitle offset while watching a video? Emby appears to be downloading the correct subtitles for some of my tv shows and movies, the timing is just off by a few seconds. I get this in Kodi as well when downloading external subtitles and the best course of action is usually to adjust the offset.1 point

Hi, I am new to emby and I would like to use it for organizing my music library. I am only using the browser-UI right now. I have set up my music library and can play back songs - so far so good. Now I was wondering how I can create playlists, such as "Classic Music", "Metal" or things like that, based on the tags in the music files. I must be stupid, but I cannot find a proper playlist management interface right now. Thanks in advance1 point
