I ensure the Series/Show has a Specials or Season X folder to allow the empty Shows to remain. Same for adding New/future Shows.3 points

so just to wrap this up, first you willingly removed empty folder support completely, instead of just adding an option to hide them, jsut because some users cried, cause they see sth that is actually present on their filesystem, then refused for 2 years to bring it back or change anything and now one comment on a resurrected thread is enough to confirming to change everything back to what was there in the first place?2 points

I mentioned it in another thread, but thought I'd put it here since this looks like a new section--just for posterity. Would like to have a bulk meta data editor function. For example, if I have 750 videos whose producing studio is the same, I want to select those videos and apply the name of the studio to those videos. Similarly, if there is a custom tag I want to apply to a subset of those movies, I want to be able to select them in bulk and apply the tag to those videos (instead of selecting them one by one).1 point

Guys, The ebook side of Emby/MediaBrowser has been long stalled or rather stagnated. I would like to offer up a couple of suggestions. Many people use calibre as an ebook/comic book tool for scraping data and general management of their collection already. This program is absolutely astonishing in its ability to pull metadata from post calibre scans, as well as draw in metadata from the file source and/or directory structure. http://vaemendis.net/ubooquity/ Its a self contained .jar server/reader combination. And honestly I am very impressed by it's small footprint and wide range of abilities. The other option is COPS , which was written specifically with calibre in mind. It is open source, so making it work with emby I would think would be fairly easy. https://blog.slucas.fr/projects/calibre-opds-php-server/ Ever since the original release of MediaBrowser's bookshelf I have always wanted something that would allow me to 'read' my collection, rather than being basically nothing more than a place-set for images of books I own. I am sure that those who mainly have audiobooks are thrilled with bookshelf , but it's nothing more than an extension of the music library IMHO, not new features. We can have both right? Here I give you two suggestions free of charge.. Just because I love you, and Emby Personally I plan on running the Ubooquity Server along side of Emby from now on, just because of it's massive functionality and tiny footprint. But I sure hope that someone decides -- "yeah, ebook support should be in here too" and do something about it - rather than allow this now very very ancient issue to continue to remain an issue. And so I don't have to have 20 different ports open, some with SSL support - some not, because Emby isn't delivering the 'complete package'. (Please take some of this with humor, I know you have your hands full with improvements/bugs/suggestions/requests)1 point

You can report here but only core issues, mainly playback and database issues. I know, a lot of features which are still available in the settings (playback) are not working at the moment.1 point

quickmic, shall we report issues we might encounter right here or shall we wait until a beta is released? I am quite excited seeing E4K being improved and actively developed again.1 point

I put it on the todo list, but priority is still re implement 4.X functions in 5.x Mostly I'm rewriting the player and database code. For the rest, I keep as much as possible as it was in 4.X. Even if there is plenty of room for improvements. But I will not open too many cases at once. Update: Multi Video selection is working. I will release it in a few days. I have to perform more tests and optimize the code.1 point

I'm not sure how much of the code you were able to reuse from 4.x but maybe the theme media portion still works. I remember being able to run a script that calls the sync theme media command and with proper skin support, video backdrops would work in kodi. If you look in the wiki for E4K here, https://github.com/MediaBrowser/plugin.video.emby/wiki/Actions you will find plugin://plugin.video.emby?mode=thememedia, which I was able to use to synch theme media. At one point there was an option in the e4k settings gui to do this but I think it was taken out of e4k at some point. Calling the script still worked but there wasn't a button to do sync theme media in the settings menu. I had also asked about trailers, and TeamB was able to point me in the direction of some code in 4.x that might do the trick here: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/plugin.video.emby/blob/647af73c74c3bd4dbd1e057bd0be4ddcccaa8ae6/resources/lib/entrypoint/default.py#L1023 Angelblue was already gone at that point, and even if I had found someone to merge the new change, I don't think it would have been possible. I understand this plugin is still in its early phased but perhaps at least the theme media still works, which I will test on my own. If this doesn't work I hope this at least points you in the right direction. Thanks again for keeping this alive, and I'm really impressed with it so far.1 point

I do it already by enabling "forwardfor" on my reverse proxy. However this isn't a guaranteed method since it's only adding to the http header and requiring the internal app to recognize it (which Emby does). My system is working properly right now; I wanted to send in the request since external address reporting isn't always visible the way it is in pfSense and highly depends on how the user enters the firewall (VPN, Reverse Proxy, Port Forward, NAT, etc.) I work in cyber security so I find myself always trying to add additional layers and precautions. I think adding the default gateway to Emby's "remote" list would be a great improvement to help cover the various router configs I mentioned above.1 point

I just paid 6.49 to unlock Emby on my Nvida Shield but the nagging screen still shows up each try time I try to watch a movie. I logged out and then back in again but that did not help. I find this quite annoying since the reason I paid the fee to unlock was to get rid of that nag screen. Turns out that to fix this problem. I had to click on the "Restore Unlock" icon on the Nvidia Shield which seems weird since if you've just purchased an item a few minutes ago, why would you need to do this. At least the nag screen is now gone.1 point

Wow this escalated quickly There are two things going on here that need to be separated 1. getting rid of incorrect image references from the db 2. Missing images for people They are not the same issue - although to an end user they appear the same for 1 the nulling of the image links with the sql i uploaded with the where clause fixes those images as it makes emby go an look in its cache and reload them. for 2 the nulling by just image type is not enough as emby never had the images in its cache so they come back blank for those people - i suspect ,as have not tested this, but one of the other null'd fields kicks emby to go and have another look for the images with the refresh people task or a metadata refresh of the movie/tv show. this is very likely PresentationUniqueKey = NULL or less likely ProviderIds = NULL Somebody would have to test systematically to confirm my assumptions. However, none of these work arounds are for the average user - thats on @Luke to add extra functionality to address both issues which have been outstanding for sometime. But if people are careful and to some extent adventurous then an enhanced version of the where sql will work - as i would not advise the whole sale nuking of 5 columns of data - as we dont know in detail, as not tested or supported what other implications it would have. If there are other issues that crop up then you are faced with using a backup or starting from scratch each has its obvious downsides.1 point

yep - thats why you had two various artists as the mbz id for various artists had two different values - and why i ran it through picard to get things consistent Just because you change a AA name - its not enough - you have to change the MBz id as well - or remove it - as you are giving emby two different pieces of information that conflict - so it does its best to give you - effectively what you asked for - even if you are not aware of it.1 point

I'm sorry but you just don't understand what's taken place or you wouldn't be saying what your saying as it's not true. You think you found "gold" because a reset of some fields fixed a current issue for you but you don't understand what that code would do on other systems with much larger data sets. I do which is why I questioned you on updating all rows and orphaning the records. Imagine for a moment if I'm a wholesaler and give you access to my backend. You download the master list of product info and the links to pictures for your use. You go off and build your website incorporating all of this. While you're doing this we reorganize our database and change IDs of products and do no referral URL mapping on our website. You now have dead links or pictures on your site because of changes I made. Is this your fault or mine (besides choosing me as vendor)? Would you accept that, it's your fault? Of course not and you would know the wholesaler messed up and made changes without thinking of how it's customers use the data. No different here. We play by the rules they give us and load the graphics on use and if they change from when we grabbed them to when you need them... This hasn't affected only Emby but all tools using their data! They could/should have left a redirect to the new location of the data but didn't do this. So I repeat it's NOT an Emby code issue. Emby is trying to handle this, but isn't going to keep wiping things out on your system while the meta data provider is still making all these changes. We'll address it a step at a time as it makes sense. We have to take into consideration the different sizes of system and how long a "wipe" would take on some systems to refresh. I've got a pretty large system personally and if I ran your SQL on my system I'd be nearly half a week recovering from it. The size of your library comes into play. You can't just wipe info on everything when someone has a quarter million videos on their system like I do. But your code didn't wipe just videos but albums and songs as well, actually all graphics. Add 2 or 3 million rows on top of that as well for music artists. My personal system would limp along for a good solid week trying to recover from that SQL. On a smallish system it can rebuilt in a hour or two but on a system with a decent amount of videos/tracks you have a massive problem. Can Emby handle this? Surely we can and Luke has already put some code in place to help with this. We refresh people on a 30 day basis so it will improve over time but we can't bombard the provider all at once. A "fix" or solution just isn't as easy as you think it is especially while the underlying problem is still taking place and likely will till around EOY when they (meta data providers) expect to be done remapping things. You threw in other issues which aren't related and I don't disagree with a few of them, but they are different issues and there are threads on those. I'll say it again, if you want temporary relief use your process as a whole but use Happy2Play's SQL. This will not cause DB problems with nulled IDs and will reset only people.1 point

You can do what you like. You were as useful at the start of this thread as tits on a man. The method worked. Didnt involve reloading anthing including libraries and within two hours everything was restored. If this is what you call help @Lukeneeds to look at who is actually helping. The end user is me your customer and the fact people sit and wait getting answers like this with no solution is extremely disappointing. You all have the ability to criticise but you never said here run this sql on your database and it will all be good. Your thing to do is bitch like old moles about something you could have come up with instead of saying run a plugin thats useless or just delete everything. Stellar help when customers fix their own issues.1 point

Adding DLNA access in the Activity log on the Dashboard would be a helpful feature. Currently I can only see when a user logs in. It would be helpful if it would show DLNA devices activity.1 point

Emby no cambia tu ip remota (ip pública), dicha IP la cambia tu operador. Puedes usar un servicio de DNS dinámico para evitar ese problema.1 point

Before I retired I was a network administrator for a couple of decades... There are many articles on the web that talk about this, e.g.: https://www.pdfblog.at/2011/06/windows-service-access-to-network-resources-what-to-consider/ or https://stackoverflow.com/questions/13268559/network-access-to-windows-service. Note there are some details to get right. Note in particular that @Luke's advice doesn't apply to a service - a service cannot use a mapped drive letter, but requires the UNC path. Paul1 point

As Luke already pointed out but I want to re-iterate - this is absolutely untrue.1 point

Most of jellyfins GitHub commits have Luke's name on it. Like their APIClient for c#, has Luke's picture on the top of the repo.1 point

@bonbonking that's really not true at all, and you can see for yourself by looking at the commit histories on the repositories. Let's take the server repository for example: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/graphs/contributors From some quick math, our paid staff was responsible for roughly 98% of the commits, and I am solely responsible for 95% of them alone. You'll see similar numbers in the other repositories. By the way, guess where the majority of our paid staff comes from: community members and volunteer contributors. Over the years we've rewarded and hired our community members who have shown interest, strong technical ability and initiative to get involved. So really, we are not bad people. We're just a team of software developer (and others) who are trying to earn a living.1 point

So it sounds like this is something that is not just specific to me, but something we'll all need to wait for EMBY to be able to recognize that AC4 audio stream. Sound correct? (puns intended)1 point

The only issue I see with the People Fix plugin is the developer used some additional custom sources and you will end up the odd shaped images in some cases.1 point

If any Emby developer or user is interested in making a metadata plugin for IFDB (https://ifdb.fanedit.org/), one starting place might be the IFDB metadata bundle for Plex. https://github.com/tomfin46/IFDB.bundle That's about 280 lines of Python code. I know Emby plugins are written in languages supported by .NET and Mono, usually C#, but perhaps it could serve as pseudo-code or at least give an idea of how to begin an Emby plugin. The github project has no obvious license (open source or otherwise) listed on it that I could find. Also of note, that project has five forks, but I looked at each of them and it doesn't appear that any of them were created with an Emby version in mind and none of them seem to have added anything significant that isn't in the original, nor do they seem any more up-to-date than the original.1 point
