  2. It would be great if i could set the server to delete certain shows after a user has watched it. I happen to watch "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" and "The Colbert Report", everyday, and with "News"ish type shows, there is no need to keep the episodes around. So i would like to set MB to auto delete those 2 shows, 3 days after one user has watched it.

  3. I would like to request a sleep timer function for the Emby app. For example, when a song is playing, it should be possible to quickly and easily set a sleep timer to shut off the song after a desired interval. Options could include 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 45, 60, 120 minutes. If it had this, I would be happy to purchase Premiere.

  4. hey what I'm really missing is support for audiobooks. Simply saving the resume point for those mp3s would be absolutely enough, no need to fetch metadata etc.

  6. To me since you have disable transcode video and audio options you would potentially be pushing more then the connection can handle. &TranscodeReasons=ContainerBitrateExceedsLimit >>>>>> User policy for Uwe EnablePlaybackRemuxing: True EnableVideoPlaybackTranscoding: False EnableAudioPlaybackTranscoding: False 22:09:50.470 Stream mapping: 22:09:50.470 Stream #0:2 -> #0:0 (copy) 22:09:50.470 Stream #0:3 -> #0:1 (copy) You are forcing a 20Mbps stream to a device that returned a 3Mbps limit. I would assume connection detection has fails a Auto quality is being used. &VideoBitrate=2616000&AudioBitrate=384000 The User Media Playback note There are lots of errors but have no idea if relavent. 22:09:50.302 [h264 @ 0x1ac6240] SPS unavailable in decode_picture_timing 22:09:50.302 [h264 @ 0x1ac6240] non-existing PPS 0 referenced 22:09:50.302 [h264 @ 0x1ac6240] decode_slice_header error 22:09:50.302 [h264 @ 0x1ac6240] no frame! Unless it is a Emby config it would appear the server is not keeping up with the stream either (speed=0.989x). But this seems wrong as it is a stream copy.

  12. It's not so much the development or software but the time they spend on the media itself. Keep in mind there is not one version of a movie or show but around 15 to 20 different rendered versions that get used so they don't have to transcode on the fly. Emby is actually much more advanced in this regard. But just like Netflix you can prepare you media so it will direct play on your equipment and this includes not just the video but all the audio. Adding a default stereo track is the way to do this!

  13. they are cached and dont come from the slower media storage once they are cached - so ssd for cache folder/metadata folder etc however if they have not been loaded before then emby needs to process them and then cache them - so initial loading can be slower for a new item or one not viewed before etc also the cache expires after 30 days so will be re read

  15. I’ve finally found a way to get the Emby app usable within a Freetime profile. I can’t take all the credit as most of the know how was lifted from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/amazon-fire/help/how-to-youtube-kids-sideloaded-google-t3839714 Takes about 30 minutes of setup but once done not only is Emby usable but you can (as far as I can tell) use many other apps available in the Google Play Store. Things you will need: • SDCard is ideal, maybe possible if connecting a file explorer to cloud storage but I had an SDCard to use. • A File Browser installed via the Amazon Appstore (I used Astro) • The “GoToApp” app installed via the Amazon Appstore Here are the steps I took. 1. Identify the Model of the Tablet Easiest way is to log into your Amazon account and go to “Manage Your Content & Devices”. Click Devices, then identify the tablet you’re using and note the Model & Generation. 2. Install Google Play & required Apps on the Adult Profile: • Install “Astro” File Manager from Amazon App store (other file managers from Amazon Appstore may also work fine) • Install the “GoToApp” from Amazon App store Go to the following website to identify the correct versions of the 4 Google Play apks below: https://www.androidpolice.com/2020/10/03/install-play-store-amazon-fire-tablet/ Use the model name\number obtained earlier to ensure you get the correct ones. If you already have Google Play on the tablet make sure you uninstall all 4 aspects and begin again with the very latest. I failed to do this on one tablet and was unable to download apps from the Google Play store within the Freetime profile until I removed everything from both profiles and installed the latest versions……. • Download and Install Google Account Manager - This may prompt you to allow Unknown Sources from Settings • Download and Install Google Services Framework • Download and Install Google Play Services • Download and Install Google Play Store Finally sign into the Google Play app. 3. Add Content to Child Profile: From tablet Settings->Profiles and Library, select child profile Add Content, Share Content Click Games & Apps Select Astro (or alternative file manager) & GoToApp 4. Uninstall “Google Play Services” This has to be uninstalled before it can be installed on the child profile. Once you have completed all steps however this can be re-installed on the Adult profile and the Play store will work in both the Adult and Child profiles. Settings->Apps & Games->Manage All Apps, Uninstall Google Play Services If the uninstall button is greyed out do the following & try again: Settings->Security & Privacy->Device Administrators, Uncheck “Find My Device” 5. Move Google APKs to the SDCard: On the newer tablets file managers running from a child account are unable to access the internal storage but can see SDCards. Some older Fire tablets appear to not have this restriction….. 6. Install the Google APKs on the Child Profile: • Switch to Child Profile • Open Astro (or alternative file manager) • Install the Google APKs - This should prompt you to allow Unknown Sources from Settings • Open GoToApp From the GoToApp you will be able to see lists of the installed apps on the tablet. Go to the “All Apps” list and locate the “Play Store”. Sign into The Play Store and install Emby. Before leaving I also disabled auto updates of apps from within Google Play. I then created a new Folder within GoToApp, added in Emby & any other app I wanted to be visible to the child into it. Then I hid all the other Folders so that when my children launch the app they are presented with only one view with just the apps I want them to use. It may be possible if you have tech savvy children for them to access other apps so it will be up to you whether this method is suitable from a parental control viewpoint. Personally I was just very happy to finally be able to use the proper Emby app! This process has worked on all three of my children's tablets and no issues so far. I hope this helps others

  17. Right. Use ffmpeg to set the default track for media files with multiples. Use ffmpeg to add a default stereo track for media files with only x.1. It can be scripted. You have a big server and big storage, put them to work...
    1 point
  18. Here's the thing. You want the ability to force stereo mixdown on the server and you might persuade the devs to give you that option. But I suspect that you just might not be satisfied with the results. Six pages of thread would demonstrate this is the case. The capabilities to mixdown from x.1 to stereo are different for all of the devices you have. Some may be good and some may be horrible. So, take your media and add a stereo stream that meets your criteria. Make the stereo stream the default audio track and then all of your devices should play the exact same audio to your satisfaction.

  19. The new media info is a horrid addition and others have posted on how to take away the background of each media stream this leave a large gap between items - so..... /*--- Adjust width and spacing of Media Stream Cards ---*/ [data-type="MediaStream"] {width: 250px !important} will fix them at 250px and if this is not enough the text will wrap for things like the srt file name etc

  20. In a recent update 4.6.x i think the text was increase by 20% for the buttons/text/links at the top of an items detail page. which is now way to big even from 10ft away so i have reduced mine back to 100% but you can now play and see what % works for you /*---- Control how big the text is for movie/tv etc detail page as Luke decided 120% was a good idea ---*/ .flex-grow.detailTextContainer.details-largefont {font-size: 100%}

  25. @ProAce - The availability of your CPU-integrated graphics is controlled by the BIOS. The default, it's often working in a way that the integrated GPU gets disabled when a discrete graphics adapter is installed. You'll need to check your BIOS setting to find a way to have both active at the same time. Where did you have a choice to do a "headless install"? Which AMD driver did you install exactly? Could you please post the hardware detection log?

  30. Thank you for your help. Unfortunately nothing has worked so I recovered the system from an earlier backup. Things are working fine now and I am slowly bringing the system up to date. It is always a little unsettling when you can't identify what caused a specific problem. I was hoping we could get to the bottom of this so it would be of help to others. Anyway, I do appreciate people taking the time to post suggestions. This Emby community and moderators have always been a credit to the platform.

  32. That's how we did it in the very first version, we did it this way then due to the emby server not supporting http HEAD for images and kodi requiring HEAD to check resource status before loading the image. It worked well and once kodi had the file cached locally it never had to load the image again so it scaled reasonably well. We dropped this approach when emby server added Head to the image endpoint. In EmbyCon i cache images in the background one at a time while the screensaver in kodi is active. I have it so it triggers once when the screen saver is activated and then it listens for new content using the websockets and if new content is detected it triggers again. I found this works well.

  34. It is, yes, but you're not using that on your Android TV devices are you.

  35. You need to supply in-app logs from the Android TV app as well as server logs covering the same time period. Without these, the developers will be unable to assist fully. Also, please confirm that it is indeed the Android TV app you are using and also which version it is. Which version of server are you using as well please?

  37. The app does that now. It checks the capabilities of the end device and transcodes/remuxes accordingly. If it is not doing that, then you need to follow the instructions in the How to Report a Problem thread.

  38. Follow the instructions in the How to Report a Problem thread mentioned above, especially the section about submitting the in-app logs, and @ebr will be able to tell you.

  39. There are many UK TV users here on the forums who don't have issues. Perhaps we need to go more in-depth on an issue by issue basis. Have you gone through all of the settings in the ATV app ? There is a resolution match option (can't remember exactly what it's called), but even if you don't used , which I don't on my Shields, playback should be fine. If you follow the instructions in the How to Report a Problem thread mentioned above, you can send in-app logs to the developer of the app, @ebr. In the Audio settings there is a "Downmix to Stereo" option.

  41. Expand on "play back is awful" ? Also, aren't those options the device's options, rather than the options within the app ? Have you explored all of the options within the ATV app itself ?
    1 point
  42. OK, perhaps it's the original Amazon sticks that are under powered. No-one is suggesting you but a 7.1 system, so you may have misread that. Not all client devices are the same, so tinkering with options to suit your needs within the capabilities of the device are required. Also, you may need to change some settings on the server to accommodate remote user's needs. It's upto you what you decide to do, but if you decide to stay and work with the people in this community, your experience will only get better. If you decide to go elsewhere, then that is your prerogative. Thanks.

  43. @OllieP From reading your posts above, it seems you have a mixture of Amazon devices and non-Android TV devices. The Amazon Stick devices are quite underpowered for what they are, so any kind of "magic" being done on the device may cause issues. I assume you are using the Amby Android TV (ATV) app on them all ? Make sure that they all have the latest Stable release of the app available (see below). There is a beta channel with all of the latest bug fixes etc., but probably best not to use for your remote users. Emby for Android TVGoogle DevicesStable: v1.8.24g (2020/08/13)Beta: v1.8.41g (2020/10/12)Amazon DevicesStable: v1.8.24a (2020/08/13)Beta: v1.8.41g (2020/10/12)Stable Release NotesBeta Release Notes There is an "Emby: Latest Versions" thread that tracks the latest version of the most popular apps etc. If you have any issues with any clients, or the server, you can always follow the How to Report a Problem link and supply the information requested within it. In the ATV app, there is the DOWNMIX TO STEREO option that you have already found. For your users that don't have any HD audio capabilities, then set that option to be used always (I have done that for my relatives who have a under-powered servers and struggle to transcode/remux). The Nvidia Shield TV devices are the best available at the present time, but they are expensive, so it's understandable when people buy cheaper devices. Please bear in mind that not all of the cheap Android devices are Android TV compatible, so you may run into issues again. There is also the Knowledge Base that has loads of useful tips and help. Any further questions, please shout.

  44. Idk about you but to my recollection of a decade and a half or so, fragmentation and packages for different distros has always been an issue. I get that you don't like extra overhead, I don't either, but I would much rather have an app be a flatpak or snap than not at all. MS teams is a perfect example. It downloads the things it needs and tbh you would be downloadinf dependencies anyway from a native install.

  45. To add, if you are using Radarr - then within Radarr itself in the 'Media Management config' - if you modify the 'Movie Folder Format' to include the Emby recognised ID details, then you should get a direct lookup every time. Same with Sonarr as well. For example -
