  1. I understand that those polished formal statements are not really likeable. I also understand the somewhat unfortunate history that this subject has undergone over the past years. But try to see it from the other side - what to say? Would we say, "more than a month but less than a year", it would appear like we'd be joking with users. Would we say "second next month for sure" to keep users' hopes high, we could fall down badly in case we'd fail to deliver. Would we say "next summer" to be on the very safe side, this would be a big disappointment for many and it wouldn't even matter when we would be done earlier. I thought about saying something like "I believe in Santa" - but that would have still been wrong in the same way as it would be like promising to have it ready by xmas. I might have become a punching ball during holidays, not to speak about all the disappointment this would have caused. It turns out that - sadly - the only reasonable and responsible answer is of that kind like the one that @ebr has given above. Though, there's one thing I can assure: We have that. It exists. It's not just a number of words on a task list (please refer to mine and @cayars's recent posts).

  2. Careful with "marketing specs" too There is a difference between a .ogg audio only file and audio embedded inside other containers. We're working on improvements in all these areas though (see above app referenced by Luke with updated Exo).

  3. ok, I checked with certutil and did not found anything obviously. Anyway, I went through the process of creating a completely new cerfificate and now everything is fine. I'm with SSL now. thanks for your support bye Michael

  5. It is benign. Like for example, if you don't even have that hardware, that's part of how we detect that.

  6. Could Emby add support for Fan Edits and their associated metadata? The best source on the web for the metadata is: https://ifdb.fanedit.org/ and it would help streamline in the same way the metadata pull does for regular videos. I currently list my fan edits separately from their original movie so that I can have independent metadata and then group them with the original as a collection. I've thought about using the new multi version feature but from what I can see that shares the metadata between all versions so I'm thinking my current method is the best as the metadata can very significantly from the OE movie.

  7. Avoid 4.5.1.1456 QNAP Firmware Update Besides causing issue with using Emby it has numerous other issues - which is very common these days from QNAP Please avoid jumping on new firmware updates till they have a couple of weeks to be tested - especially if you a running critical apps on your NAS and especially if you consider Emby to be critical to you. See https://forum.qnap.com/viewtopic.php?f=142&t=157375 for some of the other issues people are facing. Luke has posted they are working on getting the cert sorted but thats not going to happen overnight.

  8. Ok this is going to be a long post. In this thread I will show you 2 different ways in which I setup a HTTPS connection to my emby server. Both ways require a certificate which again I will show you how i got mine using Lets Encrypt on Windows. I will break the posts up into Sections. Part.1 - Setting up a DDNS (Dynamic DNS host) Only require if you ISP IP is dynamic i.e. changes. Part.1.A - Setting Up DDNS using your own Domain Name Part.2 - Getting a Domain Name (Optional but looks fancier) Part.3 - Getting a SSL Cert from Lets Encrypt the easy way. Part 3a - Using LE.exe to get Certificates (recommended) Part.4 - Setting up HTTPS by changing default port to 443 Part.5 - Setting up HTTPS using reverse proxy

  10. Forum is a waste of time as QNAP do not monitor it you need to open a support ticket to get them to even notice the issue then publicise the ticket number then all the Emby qnap users can raise tickets and quote that reference That usually gets them interested in doing something but it wont be quick and we may get other issues @Luke - please note the above as well.

  13. Yeah I'm on Windows. I'm utilizing MCEbuddy.... one of the things that kills me though is there's no great ways to organize the files after. So they just dump back in to a general folder. Unless you have a conversion set up for each folder/show etc. Kind of a pain in the a**

  14. I also felt always that this a nice feature of Emby4Kodi that is not included in Emby itself. Pre-cached is often much faster in large libraries than immediately loading it from the network at that moment.

  15. Thanks for the quick response. I've seen answers like this and you've been working on it since 2017... so just trying to nail down a tiny bit of expectation from the user perspective. I'm sure this comes off as negative, but really just want to know if I should be giving up and coming back in a year.. or a month. I'm sure others are very interested in a possible delivery date as well.

  16. Well, in general the pre-caching is not a bad option if it's working correctly and in the background as a low priority task. At least that's what I'm trying. I use it for WAN clients to minimize delays while browsing threw the lists but still there is some research todo how to implement it. And there are other issues with artwork caching at the moment. Caching uses nativ emby-server pathes. This works if you always use it from LAN or from WAN. If cached artwork was performed in LAN and you access it from WAN, it will not work. -> e.g. Laptop I tested to pipe it threw the webservice 127.0.0.1, but this could overload the local Socketserver. Anyway, additional testing is required before I find a good approach.

  17. Hi. We are not an "IPTV app" and do not try to position ourselves that way. One of the many features of Emby Premiere is access to Live TV and one source of that is via an m3u. We are working on improvements to that experience right now. Thanks.

  18. Hi, Wow. some serious drama up in this forum. No thanks. Can we get back to the issue at hand? The issue I have is I paid for premium service of Emby for my server and my Android TV and I can't use IPTV. I've loaded up my M3u for IPTV and noticing there is no channel groups... which means IPTV on Emby is useless unless you have maybe.. 40 channels total. Seeing as I came here from the fact PLEX doesnt have IPTV option.. leaving Emby as the obvious go-to.. why is this issue taking so long to be addressed? Very few IPTV users have less than thousands of channels. The easiest way to alleviate this issue is simply to have the ability to browse based on provider groups. When I do some digging I see this issue is over 3 years old and it's been said "it's coming" and "soon" for almost the entire time. Forgive me for thinking this, but why can't you provide an actual ETA of some kind? Asking for money to use the IPTV service is fine, not being able to provide basic IPTV functionality is not. Please for the love of all things good, provide channel groups so users don't have to utilize xteve or whatever else I need to learn and do and don't have the time to do so. Sure customizing the playlist and all would be really cool features to have and would love to see them in the future. But for now, you really and I mean REALLY need to add the ability to see the m3u as the provider has set it up... with groups.

  19. I think it's time to post server logs and transcoding logs from your tests. Also might be worth testing with low bitrate SD content if you have it and post those logs. Low enough bitrate that it can stream without transcoding. It's not clear yet if your service is just bad on the upstream, if your server can't keep up with the transcoding or like the others said if your ISP is detecting and traffic shaping your video streams.

  20. Ofcourse....Thanks for this tip: thats exactly what I meant and what was intended by the designer: GREAT of Emby ! Thanks & best regards, Peter

  21. No, there were no server/s listed period just as the screen shows, I have been chasing down possible vpn issues and it would appear that it is in fact the vpn causing the issue. On my home network I entered the IP and it then showed the server. So the problem has been resolved but it still puzzles me how a VPN could cause the problem, I have been using VPN's on all my devices for years, never seen or heard of this before, but like I said problem resolved and I have full access and control again. thanks for the reply

  22. That not easy, I will see if I can do this, no promise about this, but I will update how it turn out after testing.

  23. That version is the release version, try installing either Dev or Canary from https://www.microsoftedgeinsider.com/en-us/ and see if you still see the same issue.

  24. Netflix is irrelevant if it is indeed a Chinese Knock off then thats probably the root of all your problems

  25. Try some of the less popular speed testers (I always use nperf) that use https to see what upload they give. if they give a decent upload, then so should emby using encrypted ports. You could also try a non standard non-ssl port, but they are likely using packet inspection to it may not make any difference.

  26. I've seen it before and normally one of these is the issue: Try restarting the computer/nas/device running Emby if you haven't done that already. Turn off any browser extensions you may have running. If using a PROXY of any kind try it without the proxy involved. Try http vs https and see if the problem disappears as it's likely related to an SSL issue.

  27. Yes and also 4 to 9mbps is pretty low to begin with so any latency issues just magnify the buffer problem.

  28. Hi, yes I saw your posting about that. We will go over and respond to you. Thanks !

  30. Maybe something like this if you need more spacing otherwise you would have to target specific sections. div.itemMainScrollSlider .verticalSection:not(.detailMainContainer) {padding: 1em 0 0 0;}
    1 point
  31. Something like this div.itemMainScrollSlider h2.sectionTitle {margin-top: 0;} div.itemMainScrollSlider .sectionTitleContainer {margin: 0;} div.itemMainScrollSlider .verticalSection-extrabottompadding {margin-bottom: 0;}

  32. That list really isn't accurate for ATV though. It's not just what the Shield supports, but also what Exoplayer supports. I have lots of WMA that direct plays in VLC, but Emby transcodes it because Exoplayer doesn't support WMA. Though I see Vorbis listed in certain containers https://exoplayer.dev/supported-formats.html I'm hoping the Emby version of Exoplayer will support WMA some day

  33. Worked perfectly thank you, exactly as described and has features that are very welcome such as random, did not find a place to set the amount of time a picture is shown....also much much faster than the roku version, I guess the hardware for the samsung tv is better? Dunno.... Thank you very much for your prompt reply...you have solved my problem...I hope to see this in the Samsung app store...it is pretty baked...seems very solid...thanks again...and finally if I end up using this a lot will certainly buy your premium subscription...

  37. HI, yes we're looking into the issues with the older armv5 devices. For now what I might do is update the website to point to the older 4.4.3 server release so that you can use that for now.
