Thanks for the input, gents! I've decided to rather error on the side of caution and go with the nVidia shield TV (the sex toy version). As much as I would like to get a new TV, my current one is already 4K. I just can't justify the cost versus the benefit. Edit: Hmm, seems I can only select only a single answer as best answer, but thank you @FrostByte and @SamES for your valuable inputs as well. Seems the TV market can stand with a bit more shoring up feature-wise3 points

This is a smaller extras request that I haven't seen posted yet. While it's being decided how extras are advanced, can we get a sorting order for the various extras folders? Right now, I can sort them into Interviews, Deleted Scenes, Specials, etc. However, once uploaded to Emby they just mash together alphabetically, leaving you with this: Deleted Scene, Interview, Deleted Scene, Special, Featurette, Interview, Behind the Scenes, Featurette, Featurette, Deleted Scene, Special. It would be great if each Extras folder had a numbered value. That way the line in Emby looked more like: Interview, Interview, Deleted Scene, Deleted Scene, Deleted Scene, Behind the Scenes, Featurette, Featurette, Featurette, Special, Special. This would go a long way in making the Extras look much neater in their current state.2 points

@arrbee99 - Your high end soundbar has 2 HDMI inputs and 1 HDMI output for a reason You do not need to even concern yourself with ARC or eARC, and certainly you do not need any HDMI 'splitter' equipment. As has been said above - Simply connect your Nvidia Shield to one of the HDMI INPUT's on the Samsung 850 and connect the HDMI OUTPUT to your TV. Set the Shield to Auto (Sound Settings) - and it will passthrough every HD sound format just fine. You do not need ARC (Audio Return Channel) as you are not passing Audio back, you are receiving it directly from the Shield. The Soundbar is passing the VIDEO to the TV, just like a Receiver would do.2 points

X2. Don't get the tube. In addition to everything else the one thing they don't tell you on their website is that it's only 32-bit2 points

If you want to play high bitrate 4K remux's - then I suggest you stump up the extra for the Pro. The tube version is hobbled by it's OS architecture and memory constraints - and is not recommended...2 points

I'm deleting my test library to add the full library. When removing the library I get the following warning: Remove Media Folder Are you sure you wish to remove this media folder? The following media locations will be removed from your Emby library: /mnt/share1/Q I see how this does make sense in the mind of the person who wrote the code. As a user I have to admit I had to read this 10 time and still I made a copy of the "media folder" (real video in the filesystem) as it's not crystal clear in my opinion that this will remove the Library from the emby database and NOT the media files on the file-system. So I just thought you might (or might not) want to re-phrase that warning message :-) my 2 cents1 point

It looks like they've become a subscription service already the way the TVdb website presents things. The subscribe link now shows up at the top of the page, taking me to the url you provided where I can agree to pay them money. What a crappy way of going about making this change. No announcement of the change on the homepage with the exception of the subscription link at the top. And the real scumbag move, they disable their forums before implementing this change making it difficult for users to ask questions or get clarification on how this is being rolled out or when a subscription becomes mandatory. Having said this, I don't visit the actual website frequently...I just let Emby do it's things to retrieve TVdb metadata and images. So maybe they were more forthright with the announcement and I just missed it. I sure hope so. Edited to add: I don't have an issue with them wanting to be paid for the hard work they put in to maintaining the website. I'll probably hold off a bit before paying for a subscription on account of the issues they've caused me with their failed API changes in the past. But I recognize the value in what they are providing, and will likely subscribe when it becomes necessary.1 point

We have an emby app for the iPad that you can use to play files from your emby server. Is that what you're asking?1 point

What you want to do is go into the python27 folder to install any modules you might need. When you start the python script you can specify the version of python itself as well on the command line.1 point

That is exactly how I did it and you only have to do it once .. if you do not change the tvg-name to match EMBY .. you ill have the same problem if you ever have to redo it again.... So a little more work now will save you headaches down the road.1 point

Es gab einige Probleme mit der .24 Version welche aber in der .25 behoben wurden. Ich rate Dir also die .25 zu installieren und in Kodi ggf. den Cache, falls das geht, zu löschen.1 point

But if the square is smaller than the hole it fits just fine. Kidding aside I'm not very familiar with AT&T nor the info in their guides. But I'd not think this would be to difficult to get mapped (with a bit of time).1 point

I completely forgot to provide feedback on this. Sorry guys. It turns out that the XTeVe docker image doesn't adjust its timezone based on the TZ environment variable. This resulted in Emby attempting to pull XMLTV info after the pool was dry. Seems my IPTV provider only supplies 24 hours at a time. I adjusted the frequencies to pull XMLTV in both XTeVe and Emby, and it's been working like a charm.1 point

If you setup Emby inside your own LAN (home network) you won't need to do anything if you only want to access the Emby server from your house. But with the server setup in the cloud you HAVE to access it remotely as you aren't on the AWS lan. Let's start with with knowledge base article which should have enough information for you to get remote setup working. https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001849007-connectivity Let us know how you make out.1 point

As you plan to use the Oppo 203 as the playback client (DLNA), then you need a server that can deliver the digital media via DLNA. Emby can do this, but it's is not the best way to view your media as DLNA is pretty limited on what it can do. Install Emby SERVER on your Mac Mini ( https://emby.media/mac-server.html). Setup a test library (using the guides available here) and get it working ok with a normal web browser. Then turn on DLNA within Emby, and your Oppo should then 'see' Emby as a server - allowing you to select the file from your library and play it. I hope this helps.1 point

Thanks. I'm on the beta, but will wait before upgrading. There is a thread on reddit, suggesting that we should install Emby in docker, then it works. As once you've installed DSM7.0 you can't go back, you may want to look at that, unless @Luke or another mod can confirm they are working on getting Emby compatible with the new DSM version.1 point

Yes it's something we'll be looking at revamping in upcoming updates. Thanks for the feedback.1 point

Oh yeah, you can totally request a baseItem by name, and cast that tier to the device:1 point

Hi, where did you create the new account? Are you trying to login with Emby Connect, or with your local server credentials?1 point

I think a simple parenthetical after the existing statement would suffice: (no files will be deleted from your file system)1 point

Been really wanting to ditch Xfinity DVR equipment for an Emby setup. One question mark for me is how does Emby handle recording sports? Can I set up a list of favorite teams and it will record any new game that they play? Short of that, are there any sports fans here that have come up with a way to make sure all your teams games get recorded?1 point

Why bother even downloading the sample in the first place? And even if you do download it, why keep it? I add only the main movie/episode files to my collection.1 point
