-= PLEASE UP VOTE & PROMOTE THIS REQUEST IF YOU WOULD LIKE THIS FEATURE =- DO THIS BY CLICKING THE "LIKE" BUTTON ON THIS POST REQUEST: Properly pool multiple M3u IPTV sources, so when adding more than one with the exact same M3u emby treats them as one source with however many "Concurrent Streams" you set for each. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/63725-multiple-iptv-tuners-double-channels/?p=636718 https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/59607-duplicate-channels-one-tuner/?p=607031 https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/57420-multiple-identical-m3u-tuners-without-duplicate-channels/?p=560949 Basically once M3u #1 has used all 5 of its tuners, I then need to start using the login info that is within M3u #2... once those 5 tuners are used (now all 10 tuners), then emby issues "no tuners available". This is how emby treats HDhomeruns today, so it can't be to difficult. @@snodrog742 @@manolodf @@robrhedrick @@cayars1 point

As I'm transitioning from Volumio and Plex to Emby to centralize my usage to one app, the one thing I'm missing the most is gapless playback. This is particulary annoying when listening to albums like "Dark Side of the Moon" by Pink Floyd. I'm experiencing a buffer of about 1 second in between songs, which really ruins the immersion. Would be awesome if this would be implemented in both the Chromecast, and web player.1 point

Pretty simple suggestion. I have multiple users for my Emby server. If I want to do continuous maintenance on the media, I have to tell everyone. some of them are harder to reach than others ( i.e. no Facebook or Skype chat etc. ) It would be great if say... on the admin panel, I could hit a check box that enables 'maintenance mode', where the server still runs does everything as normal, but instead of the login screen it displays a maintenance page saying the server is unavailable. Even better if I were able to directly put a reason in a text box that would then display on the login screen as well. Not really sure what others would think of this, but for me it would be quite helpful. mostly if I want to make sure no one is trying to access content I know won't work until I've done a full library scan again. Thanks for reading. -Kyle1 point

CURRENT STATUS: SSO: Not yet planned LDAP: Development COMPLETED - BETA AVAILABLE >180 direct endorsements >30 MONTHS (>2.5 years) >12,000 views PLEASE BUMP - - - - - PLEASE LIKE - - - - - PLEASE BUMP - - - - - PLEASE LIKE - - - - - PLEASE BUMP This would greatly expand Emby's usage, and possibly more enterprise level adoption, user templating, user groups, SSO, etc. There are also users who have completely abandoned Emby and ended subscriptions due to the lack of this necessary basic functionality. Note: SAML2 is also part of this request. (header auth is also acceptable, at a minimum.) Context: I am trying to use something like openfire as a Instant Messaging solution which already supports LDAP and SAML2. So this would allow the current user of emby to seamlessly use web-based instant messenger with the same username and password as Emby without the need to enter them into a form. This would also allow universal login to be shared with my home PC's, Spiceworks, Ombii, Organizr, etc. The multitude of possible flexible functionality this could add is truly incredible. THIS NEEDS TO BE DONE, myself and others cannot manage a userbase with proprietary passwords for a single service (with no self-service password reset/recovery), when things that have only months of development implement it within days, easily. Status: LDAP - Development Completed - BETA AVAILABLE! Common LDAP solutions to test against:Open LDAP (Open Source) [use this] ApacheDS OpenDJ 389 Directory Server Microsoft Active Directory SSL is NOT actually needed, but Emby team insisted on it anyways: Simply offering a toggle option for auth to send plaintext or encrypted passwords would work just fine. It is ironic to claim the need to be overly security conscious of user passwords, while lagging behind on basic SSL. If SAML is implemented, a SAML request/response can just be signed by an x509 and it is just as secure as TLS using SSL. SSL does not need to be natively supported, as it is perfectly possible to run it through an SSL reverse proxy tunnel and have the same effect. SSL Feature Request: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/33983-ssl-integrationsupport/&do=findComment&comment=322526As of now username and password is encrypted client-side as security as SSL is not natively implemented. Emby team has said this impedes the adoption of both SSO and LDAP. Please see our SSL request topic; like, comment, and endorse it to show how many people would enjoy/gain from this basic security. Ways to satisfy this FR: Direct LDAP connector SAML2 connector General SSO functionality (SSO Header, etc) Allowing user header auth NGINX auth support RADIUS Authentication Other features that are inherently possible if this is implemented: Self service passwords Ability for users to invite users/guests Expiring Accounts (after duration/trigger) Unified credentials for many services Corporate level authentication security User groups Mass User management Update 1: I encourage others to work on this but I am currently seeing what I can do to develop a solution to this myself. If you have experience in this LDAP/SSO/SAML2/SSL/.NET contact myself, @@Luke, @@ebr or the Emby team to let them know, any help is greatly appreciated! By everyone! Update 2: I know there is always the question of "well how many users actually want/will use this", so I compiled a list of some of the other threads/sites where people request this (to apparently no effectiveness in motivating the team). Update 3 (18 MONTH UPDATE): This request has now hit 18 months in age, NO progress made thus far whatsoever. ( ) Update 4: This FR is now the 4th most liked post ON THE ENTIRE FORUM and the 3rd most liked FR ON THE ENTIRE FORUM (ever), the 1st most liked active FR ON THE ENTIRE FORUM and over 4000 views. Counting endorsements besides those on this thread show over 115 direct requests/endorsements for this basic functionality. Lets get this moving guys, this is getting to be a bit much. Almost 2 years waiting on this now. Source Update 5 (9/20/2017): This feature request is now the MOST DESIRED REQUEST EVER MADE TO EMBY, sadly, that has not merited any progress at all. The staff has been working on things they believe Emby users want or may want, but it is clear what people want. We can only hope now our wishes are respected instead of being told what we want and having our requests dismissed. Source Update 6 [2 year update] (10/17/2017): Two years and not a single bit of progress has been made. TWO YEARS!!! To say this is disappointing is an understatement. The entire reason I went from Plex to Emby was because of local user management. THIS IS THE ONLY REASON, so naturally I wanted to have complete control over my users, but after TWO YEARS, still nothing. Update 7 (3/6/2018): DEVELOPMENT HAS STARTED!!! Check Luke's recent comments, if you want to test it out, download the latest beta and install/configure the LDAP plugin to test and give feedback!!! Update 8 (4/6/2018): Development on the LDAP connector has completed from what I gather, not sure if this is only a beta or a primary release; SSO is still a plan for the future but has not been touched. Progress made by other users (looks to be nearly, if not fully complete): https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/pull/1885 https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/pull/2139 Exploits shown by other users against Emby (emphasizing the need for a centralized authentication solution): https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/12335-unauthenticated-access-over-the-internet-to-logs-folder/ https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/20376-all-folders-visible-to-all-users-after-upgrade/ Related FR that could be helpful: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/46635-support-for-logging-users-in-though-url-scheme/?hl=user Any of these could be interesting to have compatibility with: http://lemonldap-ng.org/welcome/ https://github.com/Jasig/cas http://passportjs.org/ https://www.nginx.com/resources/admin-guide/restricting-access-auth-request/ LDAP/SSO/SAML Requests (~180 endorsements) [>12,000 views] > 95 endorsements on this post ~ 30 endorsementshttps://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/issues/1146 > 35 endorsementshttps://www.bountysource.com/issues/24943821-authenticate-users-using-ldap > 14 endorsementshttps://feathub.com/tidusjar/Ombi/+122 > 4 endorsementshttps://www.reddit.com/r/emby/comments/5o44wd/creating_deleting_updating_users_with_the_api/ Interview, in article comments user said lack of LDAP STOPPED him from using Emby (Emby is actually losing customers due to the lack of this NECESSARY basic functionality):https://www.linux.com/news/software/multimedia/856128-exclusive-interview-emby-founder-luke-pulverenti Duplicate, user had no progress on first 2 posts (no one from Emby actually tracked this or even replied to him):http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/861-mb3-and-active-directory/ http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/867-mb3-and-active-directory/ Auth announcement, user 'Drashna' in comments requested LDAP/ADhttp://emby.media/community/index.php?/blog/1/entry-177-manage-your-home-with-emby-users/ Various similar requestshttps://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/issues/2494 https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/issues/2493 https://forum.yunohost.org/t/integration-emby/912 http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/13081-active-directory-integration/ http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/11200-media-browser-3-server-ldap-active-directory/ External SQL auth request:http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/27986-emby-and-shared-mysql-database/ http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/23509-authenticate-users-via-external-mysql-database/ http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/12001-external-login-to-mysql/ #ADFS #SSO #LDAP #ActiveDirectory #MSAD #SAML #SAML2.0 #SAML1.1 #PingFederate #OKTA #LemonLDAP #JASIG #authentication #auth #TLS #SSL #Usergroup #usertemplate #header #authheader #headerauth #security #hardening #authhardening #authenticationheader #externalauth #centralauth #centralizedauth #centralizeddb #exploit #authexploit #security #loginhardening #authenticationhardening #accesscontrol #.NET #SelfService #RADIUS1 point

Love the new radiance blue theme Can we get the option to set the default user theme globally in the admin dashboard?1 point

One thing that I would like to see implemented is the abilty to display lyrics in all of the apps. For those of us who have libraries with lyrics embedded in the actual files, it would be trivial. Simply scrape the lyrics from the lyrics tag and display them. As far as scraping from online lyrics databases, I don't see that working very well as just about every app that I have seen use it either doesn't get the correct lyrics or they are truncated with an add for the website.1 point

It would be great to be able to configure channel groups in LiveTV, which can be selected in the guide view (maybe as tabs) so that we can more quickly navigate to preferred channels using the d-pad. Perhaps start with Favorites by default, but be able to add custom groups (similar to collections) which we can add channels to (Network, Premium, Basic Cable, Kids, News etc.).1 point

I was just looking at the episode list of Hannibal season 3 to see how many episodes there were left and saw some major spoilers in the thumbnails which made me think that it would be a good idea if there was an option to hide thumbnails for unwatched episodes Thanks.1 point

It would be really nice to have an Android widget for things like music skipping or even somethink like showing how many active sessions are streaming from the server. Just a thought but figured I'd put it down. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk1 point

Is it possible to add a bitrate for users that are direct(whatever) something? It's good info, and readily available. Thanks1 point
-
Often times when I see "Reason for transcodng: Media bitrate exceeds limit." in the info I wonder, what kind of internet connection do they have? I know this can cover multiple scenarios like bandwidth limit set for user, server, client side quality setting, as well as AUTO bandwidth detection... Can you PLEASE add to the dashboard the returned client bandwidth capabilities? The value you are getting from the client that tells emby its bandwidth abilities. While you are at it tighten up the spaces between lines on the transcode items, and align the results to the right instead of center.. MAYBE SOMETHING LIKE THIS :1 point

Hello, I have translated some strings on the Apple TV app to Spanish as well on the main web app to Spanish and would like to see my changes included on a future release so that Emby apps can be easily used for family members. If you want more translations to Spanish, just let me know. Thank you for providing Emby and hope to hear from you soon, David1 point

To gauge interest... What if you had the ability to "Forget" a series for the purposes of Next Up display. That is, it would no longer show in Next Up - unless you watched another episode. Sometimes you maybe watch a series for a while and, even though there is more of it or more is made later, maybe it isn't as good as the earlier seasons or maybe you just don't have time for it anymore. So you'd like it to quit showing up in your Next Up list so it is less cluttered and you can focus on the series you are actually watching now. If you start watching it again, the "forget" would be forgotten and it would start to show up in Next Up again.1 point

But I do NOT want it to apply globally. I want most collections displayed just the way they are but I want some to display the collection and their contents and some to display just the contents and some to hide both contents and the collection itself. Mainly it is about "choice." The administrator of a server should have a choice about how each collection is displayed to each user and either collection tags (easiest) or a change to how collections can be displayed would allow that. This failure to honor parental controls for collections is a bug. It may be an intentional bug but it is none the less a bug and, if it is intentional, it is poorly thought out and needs to be fixed. Fixing this bug would expand not reduce the functionality of Emby and I want more flexibility at almost all times.1 point
-
Exactly, you nailed it, this is exactly the way i organize my games, and the same bug happens with you, that is just one theme.mp3 is played no matter what plataform, no matter what game, it's always the same theme, seems to be either a server or gamebrowser plugin problem, as this bug appears on android tv, android app, web interface and emby theater. If you need anything to help solve this, im here.1 point

Yes, pull movies from the Asustor Emby-Server to the TV works fine, only pushing from the NAS to the TV fails.1 point

Yes, it's nice for things like this. It's also nice to have a complete export of your media "just in case" you ever loose a drive or something without backup and want to know what was lost. Lots of uses for the data.1 point
-
@cayars This is awesome, thanks! I actually don't even need to export. The filter I need is right there in the GUI.1 point
-
No way to do that as a filter that I'm aware of but you could do this and might prefer it. Load the Reports Plugin from the Plugin Catalog. You can then use this to export your media to CSV or Excel formats. Once in Excel or Open Office Spreadsheet you can sort by the Parental Rating column.1 point

You can go into "Edit Images" for that film and choose a different logo if one is available, or just delete it or provide your own. Paul1 point

I understand what you are saying and I agree to many of the details. But in one point you are way off: No opportunity is lost because your are saying it and even less, right in the moment when you are saying it. There is a huge effort being made to deliver a great TV experience. But that takes time and it can't be accelerated. Neither do we want to publish any half-baked solution. If you cannot wait and are in need for an instant solution, you are welcome to look elsewhere. But we would be glad when you would take another look at Emby in a while, when we will have released the new TV experience. Kind regards, softworkz1 point

In my opinion your server should not have any other regular tasks except what is needed to support itself as an Emby server. It is also my opinion that servers should never sleep. A server is a specialized device and while the Emby developers try very hard to make Emby as able as possible to run with other programs it is impossible to assure stability when a computer is asked to do too much. Also, except for some specialized cases, the server must be running for Emby playback to happen. Emby is a client/server system and both parts are required for functionality. The media files live on the server and the server supplies them a piece at a time to the client. I have all my servers (3 of them) running 24/7 and they have all lasted longer than a coupe of others that have been regularly power cycled. Both computers and hard drives are designed for continuous and sleeping or any other version of automatically powering down is mostly just a placebo to make users feel better. So my advice is to make sure your computer never sleeps and the only part that turns off at all is the monitor and that mainly to darken the room.1 point
-
Thanks for the help. I learned a few extra things.1 point
-
Well, what many do is just let the computer run. Modern computers throttle down the CPU to a low voltage. HDDs can spin down, etc so the computer is still running but using far less electrical power. We just chalk up that leaving the server running will cost a couple of bucks a month for 24/7 availability and call it a day.1 point

Not sure what that means. Keep in mind when Live TV was added to Emby there wasn't as many supported tuners, there wasn't as many clients and especially the networks/broadcaster/cable companies weren't using nearly as many different codecs and weird things that really don't meet proper spec. Now some IPTV providers are doing 4K HEVC as well adding additional complexity. The native players on different devices had a lot more limitations compared to what they have now as well. As Emby has updated clients with new features & new players that support more codecs, it's expanded the way that Live TV can be used or could be used if things were done differently. It's an evolution. You only want to patch things so much before you redo the architecture for the future and adapt to the new hardware, new codecs, new players, newer clients and new features you want to add. You think they "missed the opportunity" but I think they are "seizing the opportunity" with the new Live TV project.1 point

Now you have a true directstream on this specific media (TrueHD 5.1) TranscodeReasons=DirectPlayError 17:05:37.165 Stream mapping: 17:05:37.165 Stream #0:0 -> #0:0 (copy) 17:05:37.165 Stream #0:2 -> #0:1 (copy) This would suggest a issue with "DTS-HD MA" to me also since it was converted. I looked at the beta 22 and think we are going in the right direction and it looks really good. Thank you in advance for your work. I still have a few things that would definitely improve the design. Please forgive me for the pictures because I photographed them from my 4K Projector. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Home Screen Picture 1 - I miss a ramdom backdrom that the design doesn't look too dark and the lower part from the Own Media menu is cut off Picture 2 - the same with missing backdrop but additionally Buttons too bright. and everything looks different, sometimes with shadow then sometimes without. The watch has a different font. Picture 3 - You can see a Random Backdrop without a menu item being selected and looks nicer. I am aware that the web version has a mouseover function, but that has nothing to do with it because the random backdrom is selected by itself. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Movie Thumbs The arrangement looks very good, but the scaling of the hooks seen is poor and uneven. The icons of the hooks are too big in my opinion. The transparency of the top bar doesn't really look good either and could be better adapted to the web version. watch have other font and colour. In the web version, only the title and year are under the covers and that looks more coherent and calm. not like in the AndroidTV version with language and rating, too much Information. All Informations are on Details Page. The overlay for the highlighted film is not exactly perfect. You can see it very nicely in Picture 2 at Spiderman. the sorting and filtering menu looks great in the web version, maybe you could also position it under the top bar in the Android version but on the right with new fresh icons is also good. Actually only the overlays of the buttons look crap. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Movie Details as you can see the arrangement is different in the web version but I don't think that's bad. However, the milky backdrop overlay does not match that of the movie thumbs view. The overlay from the movie overview page looks better in any case. The scaling of the buttons and selection buttons is distorted. It also looks strange that the information such as language, resolution, etc. is stored as if you could select it. Pls, slightly more transparent and round off the edges. Fits the overall picture better. The background to the description is also too bright and should be less visible. more transparent and a little darker. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ As I said, really great work and I hope that one or the other will still be implemented what I suggested. I still have one, we have the Emby Classic Theme and Dark Theme, both of them hardly differ. It would be nice if the Green from Buttons in the Dark Theme was removed or lightened and the Buttons made more transparent. In the movie list the right menu is also more transparent than the top bar and that looks better because the dark green looks very bad and old on TVs. You have already changed this in the Apple TV theme and it looks much better.1 point
-
Me too. As emby's main purpose is to act as a library for your media, not being able to correctly archive your dvd and blueray collection of TV shows is a major shortcoming. We shouldn't have to mess around with renaming shows with special prefixes or bundling several seasons of extras into one unwieldy unsorted folder or even video-editing files to combine them into one and using specialist software to create chapters, all workarounds that can work but totally counter intuitive, especially as you have the already intuitive system of extras folders for movies that you could just replicate.1 point

I'm not sure about what anyone else feels on it, but I would think the best place to start would be internal, having the ability to display the lyrics saved within the meta data, and then later on possibly introducing fetching from other sources if it's not in the metadata.1 point

Yes but only in Theater, and only on the season screen. What he's asking for is a universal feature throughout all the apps, and I think it's a nice idea.1 point

I'm brand new to Emby, but does the feature in Emby Theater (Windows Desktop) under Settings -> Default Skin -> "Enable Anti-Spoiler Features (hide details for episodes beyond the first unwatched)" do what you want/need? It seems like in theory that should be aiming for what you're wanting.1 point
