  1. I suggested in a totally different thread a bit ago about possibly adding Discogs as a meta fetcher... https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/79280-duplicate-music-artists-entries-how-to-get-rid-of-them/ That thread has had a few +1 reply posts. As such i figured adding it to the feature requests was the proper way to gauge interest. If you have used MP3tag you should be familiar with Discogs. Its a GREAT alternative to Musicbrainz.

  2. We'll add audio and subtitle language filters for the next release. Thanks.

  4. Over the last month, my custom genre posters have been deleted. I have gone back and reverted them by "uploading" the custom pictures, but within a week or so they revert back to the "tiled" movie poster.

  5. I'd really like this feature as well. Emby creates a backup from all smartphones and it contains all those crap things that people send over WhatsApp etc.. So a feature to select multiple pictures for deletion would be really really awesome! For me it's the last thing left to have.

  6. The latest firmware has an issue playing back mpeg2 for some people. So until they get that fixed it's hit or miss for Live TV depending if your channels use mpeg2 or h.264.

  7. I know this is an old thread, but this is something I would love to see implemented as well. I have a substantial collection of Movies and TV, and this would help myself, my family, and friends to pick something to watch without endless scrolling, to see if something catches the eye.

  8. If these people will not be using Live TV then I'd go with the MiBox S as long as it supports the audio they have. To me it's either this or the Shield TV. You could also check out the Fire TV type boxes but I'd just go with the first two.

  9. Both are still maintained. We've never been listed in flathub or snap's store yet but we're working towards that. For now you'd need to install the downloadable packages.

  10. You just need to be sure that your AVR is on before you wake up/turn on the Mi. Otherwise, it will get limited audio capabilities reported to it via the HDMI connection.

  11. OK, now that I understand Emby's naming conventions a little better the problem was easy to solve. Yes, due to the way they were named Emby was seeing these films as parts of a single video rather than as distinct movies. (I guess it's a judgement call as to which way is better but I'm accustomed to seeing the movies listed individually.) I renamed the movies as follows: Atlas Shrugged I (2011).mp4 Atlas Shrugged II (2012).mp4 Atlas Shrugged III (2014).mp4 Scanned the library, replaced metadata, and now all 3 movies show up as distinct entries with the appropriate artwork and metadata.

  13. It may be old technology but I now have it working perfectly and considering I have 3 XBOXs as extenders I'll use them as long as they serve me. I have 2 FIrestick TVs and I tried them but I have to purchase the APP and you cannot apply that purchase towards the price of Emby Premier and I am currently in testing mode and although I am strongly considering Premier the decision will depend on getting it working with what I have now since all my equipment is supported by your software. XBOXs may be old the but the video format your software prefers has been around a long time, I purposely encoded them into this format or Emby, and XBOXs have no problem playing them. All the issues I have been having have been Emby's need to transcode. The same files that cause hang ups and freezes play absolutely fine through WMC and the Movie Library. I traced the issue to every movie having problems had Dolby Sound. I have it working now and even if I have future problems I will make EDGE the default browser for Emby which supports Dolby. Your software is really great, I really like it and am now able to enjoy my movies. It is currently on the top of my list to replace WMC when I make that decision. If you run an end of Summer sale this year like last I'll probably just buy Premier and use it across all the equipment I currently own. I don't need it for live TV yet but that is on my list. Thank you for this nice software. Learning to tweak it has been fun. You have done a really nice job. Keep up the good work.

  14. the usual "modern" way via hdmi (tv -> avr -> Mi Box) No issues on my apple tv 4k. But I read in some other thread that the emby theater version I was running could have caused the issue. I'll test again more intensive today, thanks.

  15. There's the exisiting issue with this file. Another file i tried to play and it did start. But when I tried to skip FFWD the adverts, it crashed and exited the app. Haven't had time to see if it played. I will record some other programmes and do some more playback testing this evening.

  17. This has been previously discussed, but I take this opportunity to comment again, since it is related to the OP. This is why you cannot stream HEVC MKVs to Apple TV using native player. Developers say it is very hard to implement and requires major changes to the Emby server. So the only option left is to wait for improvements in the MPV player.

  19. Thanks @ebrI can appreciate your frustration, and apologies for the vent. I have now installed File Explorer and side loaded 17g as per @Frostbyte 's guidance (thank you). The process was easy as and I don't know why I waited so long I understand I can join the Beta program but I have noticed that on occasion some Beta's can be problematic and with my devices being family devices I do not want to further risk their dissatisfaction :). At least now I can selectively choose which beta's to side-load. Thanks to all who contributed, much appreciated.

  23. Thanks for the help. Emby is now working correctly, I think you were right but there was another mistake I had made was that I didn't create a mount point in the Jails/Mount Points dialog in FreeNas, however I think even if I did do that earlier I would have still faced the permissions issue. Regardless it is now working and thanks a bunch.

  25. It would be nice if this could show up as a notification on mobile apps, and also a pop-up when rebooting the server that Emby is installed on. I often forget to check if something is recording when I restart my server after an update. It would be nice if I was warned before restarting if something was recording. Or at least just have a better way to see if something is recording. Maybe a notification in the task bar.

  27. Thank you for the suggestion Riggs, Just to give the background. This was a brand new install. The SD card was imaged using the MacOS imager tool from the raspbian site. 29. First and foremost, I want to thank Luke and PenkethBoy from this forum for a ton of help (oh, and an honorable mention to Google!). If anyone finds errors, or missing info, please reply to this thread, and I will edit appropriately. I have been working on a couple scripts to automate some processes in my Home Theater, and I wanted to share what I have created. This thread is specifically to do the following: Use FFMPEG to transcode a recorded TV episode, but ONLY after watching it, and ONLY shows that I have pre-determined that I want to keep. It will write to a new location. The filename will be something like Bull - S01E02 - Episode Name.mp4 The path will be \Series Name\Season #\Filename As of v 2.0, Closed captions and Comskip will be extracted Delete the original file as long as no errors were returned by FFMPEG (IE: the transcoding was a success). I know this post is SUPER long, but if you like automation as much as I do, this may help you get started! I will be sharing another script in another post soon on how to auto create EDL files for automatic commercial skipping, and how to use KODI as a front end on either a PC or Nvidia Shield to make it work. I didn't want to use the post processing built in to Emby because Nvidia soft limits your encoding sessions to 2 encodes at a time, and there are times where I am recording more than that, AND I didn't want it to interfere with current recordings or streaming sessions that were in progress. This allows me to use the Windows Task Scheduler. Here are a few things about my setup. First, this is done in Windows. I record TV episodes to a library called ‘Recorded TV’, and I have a separate library called ‘TV Shows’. The latter being shows that I have gotten from DVD or Blu-Ray rips, or in this case, shows that I have already watched that I want to keep for possible future watching. It would take a lot of disk space to just keep the shows in their native format, so transcoding was needed. I used to transcode to 854x480 h.264, but just recently, I got a new Nvidia GPU, and the HEVC encoding on the newer gen cards (RTX, or GTX 1660) is so much better than it used to be, I decided to keep the videos in their native resolution/frame rate and use h.265 (HEVC) to compress. This results in a very good quality video, with anywhere from 50-75% space savings. I still haven’t figured out how to include Closed Captions in the encoded video, so if anyone knows…or really any suggestions that would help make this better, I am all ears. Since I am using Nvidia NVENC with FFMPEG, it does require the use of a modern Nvidia GPU unless you modify the VBS script appropriately. You will probably also want to install the latest driver from Nvidia. You also need to understand that I am not a programmer/scripter, so I have no doubt that this code may not be optimized, or perfect, but I will say it works well for me, and I am pretty sure that I have gotten most of the corner cases taken care of, but there are no guarantees that it will work for you. I am in the US, and NO testing has been done by anyone other than me. I am not responsible for any file loss or damage if it occurs. OK, so here we go…I hope this is helpful to someone! First thing is there are 2 scripts. I’m sure this could be done in 1, but I am mostly adept at VBS, but to actually get a list of episodes was easier in a PowerShell script. If you create a document in Notepad (or, like myself, NotePad++), and save it as “Emby_Find WatchedEpisodes.ps1” as the filename. Or whatever you want to name it as long as it has the .ps1 extension. Paste the following code into the file, and change the username and password to the appropriate values. This is designed to be run on the actual Emby Server PC, but it could probably be modified to run on a different PC if needed. If you are not running the script on the Emby Server, simply change the $embyServerURL variable to the correct IP address/port. $embyServerUrl = "http://127.0.0.1:8096" $BasePath = "O:\OneDrive - Personal\AutoCompress\TVEpisode.csv" $Emby_User_Name = "xxxxxxx" $Emby_User_Pwd = 'xxxxxxx' # if you dont have a password leave as '' Function Get-StringHash([String] $String,$HashName = "MD5") { $StringBuilder = New-Object System.Text.StringBuilder [System.Security.Cryptography.HashAlgorithm]::Create($HashName).ComputeHash([System.Text.Encoding]::UTF8.GetBytes($String))|ForEach-Object{ [Void]$StringBuilder.Append($_.ToString("x2")) } $StringBuilder.ToString() } $embyClientName = "PS-Find Watched Episodes" $embyDeviceName = "PowerShell" $embyDeviceId = "7" $embyApplicationVersion = " - 1.0.0" Function Get-EmbyAccessToken ($Username, $Pwd) { $authUrl = "{0}/Users/AuthenticateByName?format=json" -f $embyServerUrl $sha1Pass = Get-StringHash -String $Pwd -HashName "SHA1" $md5Pass = Get-StringHash -String $Pwd -HashName "MD5" $postParams = (@{Username="$username";pw=$Pwd;password="$sha1Pass";passwordMd5="$md5Pass"} | ConvertTo-Json) $headers = @{"Authorization"="Emby Client=`"$embyClientName`", Device=`"$embyDeviceName`", DeviceId=`"$embyDeviceId`", Version=`"$embyApplicationVersion`""} Write-Verbose ("authUrl={0},Username={1},sha1Pass={2},md5Pass={3},params={4}" -f $authUrl, $Username,$sha1Pass,$md5Pass,$postParams) return (Invoke-WebRequest -Uri $authUrl -Method POST -Body $postParams -ContentType "application/json" -Headers $headers) } $authResult = Get-EmbyAccessToken -Username $Emby_User_Name -Pwd $Emby_User_Pwd $user = $authResult.Content | ConvertFrom-Json $MediaUrl = $embyServerUrl + "/emby/users/" + $User.User.Id + "/items?Fields=width,height,Path&Recursive=true&IncludeItemTypes=Episode&IsPlayed=True&IsMissing=False&ParentId=6f25559632c2aca7578b4fdc30acb587&SortBy=IndexNumber&SortOrder=Descending" + "&api_key=" + $User.AccessToken Invoke-WebRequest -method GET -uri $MediaUrl | ConvertFrom-Json | Select-Object -ExpandProperty Items | ConvertTo-Csv -NoTypeInformation -Delimiter '^' | Set-Content $BasePath Exit You will need to find the following line: $MediaUrl = $embyServerUrl + "/emby/users/" + $User.User.Id + "/items?Fields=Path&Recursive=true&IncludeItemTypes=Episode&IsPlayed=True&IsMissing=False&ParentId=6f25559632c2aca7578b4fdc30acb587" + "&api_key=" + $User.AccessToken And change the “6f25559632c2aca7578b4fdc30acb587” part to match your recorded TV library. The way you find your ‘parentid’ is to navigate within the Emby webapp to the library (simply click on the Library within the ‘MyMedia’ heading. Once you are there, look at the URL in your web browser, and find the part the says ‘parentid=’ and then a string of characters. This string of characters is what you want to replace “6f25559632c2aca7578b4fdc30acb587” with. You will also need to change the $BasePath variable to whatever suits your needs. I have this set up so that all the scripts are run from the same folder. Most likely you would want this variable to be the same directory where you saved the PowerShell script. Once the above changes have been made, save the file and set aside. What the above does is use the Emby API to return a list of episodes in a CSV formatted file that meet the following criteria: Is a TV Episode (IE: not a movie) Is ‘played’ (IE: you have watched it) Is actually on the disk Is in your recorded TV library In order to get this script to run, you may need to change your PowerShell Execution Policy (Google is your friend here!). If you run the file on your library now, it may or may not return any episodes, but it should write a file that you can take a look at in either Excel, or NotePad++. Now that you have a list of episodes that need compressed, we need a way to automatically compress them without intervention on our side. As I mentioned earlier, I am way more comfy with VBS scripting, so this script is in VBS, you can create it the same way as the PowerShell script, but instead of the .ps1 file extension, use .vbs. BasePath should be the same $BasePath as the PowerShell script, and should probably be where the script resides RecordedTVPath should be the path to your recorded TV files. ArchivedTVPath should be where you want to save the transcoded files. That should be all that is needed to be changed for this script, so save it as a VBS file and set it aside. OK, the last couple details are what needs to be in the folder with the scripts. Below is a list of files that should be included in your ‘BasePath’ directory (again, where these scripts are located). FFMPEG should be here. You can download a pre-compiled version and just copy ffmpeg.exe to this folder. You should have a ‘AutoCompressList.txt’ text file in this directory as well. This is simply a list of Series that you want to auto compress. 1 series per line The script will do a simple comparison, and the way I have it set up, if you have Marvel’s in the file, ANY series that begins with Marvel’s will be a match. If you have Marvel's Agent in the file, then Marvel's Cloak will NOT be a match. You should run the PowerShell script before the VBS script, so there should be a TVEpisode.csv file in this folder as well. A log file will also be created at run time. The 2 scripts should also be in this folder. So, there should be 5 files in this folder (not including the log file that will be created after first run). As of version 2.0.0, if desired: -Create a CCExtractor folder in your BasePath, and put CCExtractor files inside this folder -Create a Comskip folder and put Comskip files inside this folder *If you don't want CCExtractor or Comskip to run, change the variables on Lines 7 & 8 (subject to change!) to false. Personally, I use Windows Task Scheduler to automate this completely. The PowerShell script runs at 11:15 PM every night, and the VBS Script runs at 11:30 PM every night. But there is no reason you can’t run these manually if you choose. I would suggest backing up a few files first and testing the scripts only on those to make sure everything works for you. Versions: v2.0.0 -Lots of Changes to the log file -added variable to determine how many log lines before archiving log. default is 500. -Changed default FFMPEG quality to QP based instead of set bit rate. -Added: -CCExtractor commands to extract Closed Captions -Comskip to create an EDL file -In order to use the above (Comskip and CCExtractor), a CCExtractor and Comskip folder needs to be created, and the files for the respective components go in these folders. -You can turn these off if you don't want them by setting the variables to false on lines 7 & 8 (line #'s could change in future versions). -Various bug fixes v1.5.0 - 03-14-2020 -Rename the log file with a time stamp once it becomes over 1000 lines. v1.4.0 - 03-10-2020 -If the CSV file 'Date Modified' property doesn't match the current date, then the script will exit since there is likely no new information to process. v1.3.0 - 03-02-2020 -If the file is marked as watched, and is in the AutoCompressList.txt file, but is NOT a .ts file, it will be moved, but not compressed. v1.2.0 - 02-22-2020 -CSV output changed again for an unknown reason. I am now parsing the season and episode from the path of the file. -Added a bit more logging -Fixed a bug where a ":" should have been changed in the filename to a "_" but was instead changed to a " ". -Removed characters on the String Replace function that would not cause issues. -Added a sort order to the powershell script to hopefully get all info each time v1.1.1 - 02-19-2020 -Fixed bug introduced in last revision where original file would not be deleted v1.1.0 - 02-19-2020 -It appears that the output columns in the CSV can change order, or content, so I implemented a change that would map the correct column to the variables v1.0.0 - 02-17-2020 -Initial release

  31. You can kill 2 birds with 1 stone here with Skip intro/skip chapter button. What I really need is to skip intro, but I figured when Emby already is capable working with chapters then Im asking this.

  32. For users with Samsung Tizen SmartTVs (2015 - Present) who want to test the latest version of the Emby client app before it's submitted to Samsung for release in their app store. These installs should be considered beta until approved by Samsung, however they are the same ones submitted to Samsung monthly for inclusion in the Samsung store. Samsung's policy is that the only official way to distribute apps is through the Samsung store and that usb installs should be used for testing purposes only. Because of this policy Samsung has mandated that usb distributed apps must expire within 30 days of compiling. To help with testing you will be remined to update to the latest beta release as the app expires to ensure you are using the latest version when reporting issues. This install will also work for those who don't have access to the official client app in the Samsung app store. However, the same rules must be followed as indicated above. Release notes and version number For the latest release notes and version number click on this post https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/31461-emby-for-samsung-smarttv-release-notes-tizen-orsay/ Installation instructions Download this zip file: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/raw/master/tizen/tizen.zip Format a USB 2.0 stick using FAT16 (some larger USB 3.0 hard drives have been found to not work) (newer models may support other formats, check your users manual) Copy the tizen.zip file to the root of your USB stick Extract the contents of the tizen.zip file to the root. (This should create the folder 'userwidget' in the root of the USB stick and the folder should contain the two files needed) Turn on the TV Make sure your TV is connected to the Internet Plug the USB stick into the TV's USB port. Installation should start automatically. (There will be 3 quick messages in the upper right corner of the TV) Click 'OK' once the installation is complete. Optional, add the Emby app as a shortcut to Home Start the app from the Smart Hub or installed apps section of your TV. Troubleshooting If the installation does not start automatically, then please ensure your TV firmware is up to date and try again. If you get an installation error, try the process again with the USB stick formatted ass FAT32. We've received reports from users that installing from USB 3.0 hard-drive devices does not work, so please make sure to use a USB 2.0 thumb-drive device. Also, make sure the thumb-drive is unlocked/writable before plugging it in. The TV will need to write to your thumb-drive. Users with 2015 Samsung SmartTVs may experience an issue where the USB version of the app deletes itself upon restart of their TV. This is a security measure implemented by Samsung in which we have no control. If this is the case you may have to leave the thumb-drive in the TV and reinstall upon reboot, or install the latest release version of the client found in the Samsung app center. Updating from a previous USB install The app will notify you when an update is available. To update a previous USB install just repeat the instructions above. Notes: Certain Samsung SmartTVs have an issue where the app won't upgrade from USB drive if there is already a USB version installed. If this is the case you'll simply delete the old version before inserting the USB and then repeat the same installation process to install the new version. Also, try power cycling your TV after deleting the previous version if you have problems.
