I've not tried playback via USB, though the episodes work fine when viewed from another device. Overall, I think I'll count this as a one-off, as I've not encountered this issue with the many other media files I've used via this Samsung Emby app. (I also don't want to get anyone into a goose chase, when we don't have any log files to reference :)) I'll bump this thread / open a new one if I encounter this again. Thanks for the quick replies!1 point

Ah, gotcha. I was assuming it would have been a recently added file that would be causing the issue since all the other files are static and don't change. But you're right, I guess a file corruption could cause an issue since a monitored file might be recognized as being changed.1 point

Certainly! I'll give it a try and report back.1 point

I found out how Nvidia Shield was able to "see" my external hard drives, there is a setting that "mounts" those external drives. I told Beelink how Nvidia was able to mount the drives, and they are going to see if they can do something similar........1 point

Ok I forgot about that, sorry. It must be using a windows api that requires the desktop shell.1 point

Yes, this is all that is required for the fix you are after. We're sorry but know that any frustration you are feeling we have ten-fold. This is completely out of our control and maddening. Google holds all the cards and if they want to screw us around, they just do it seems.1 point

Hi. Smart playlists like that are in our future plans. Thanks.1 point

I would also like to see themes. Then we could have a proper dark (black) mode.1 point

I use the one from Anker like in your link. Real easy and simple file explorer Download apk in zip https://emby.media/community/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=72278 Once the store catches up/surpases it will upgrade over top1 point

Just the client on Samsung TV. The server is still running version 4.4.2.0.1 point

This is something that we're working on resolving. Thanks for confirming that it worked on 1.0.76 prior to you updating. @FrostByte, can you please check version .76 and see if this works for you?1 point

On Windows you can often find an offending folder/file by just dragging a whole folder to another location. It's not uncommon to get an error doing this. I usually shut Emby down first so that it doesn't start going crazy doing directory scans. I've done this a few time remotely finding issues like this. So if you had c:\media\movies you could drag the movies folder to c:\movies. Once it moves everything if you didn't get an error drag it back. Hard to believe but this work a lot. The other method is to split a library. For example create a movie2 library and start to move media from movies to movies2 while testing scanning of both libraries to see which has the issue and using process of elimination to find the fault. If you do find a problem file, save it and let us know. Devs could use this to improve scanning by being able to handle the situation causing the problem and allow scanning to continue vs stopping.1 point

Then point the plugin to the parent folder of your A to Z folders. If it's only about actors and directors then only fill in the person folder path, leave the artists folder empty. Remember the plugin will only restore images of actors that are already in your library. It will not create new persons. Existing images in your database get overwritten.1 point

ebr also mentioned in another thread that Emby is in a slower review category at Google so it will probably take longer then Plex for things to get reviewed and to make things worse once he submits a new update the time resets. Once you side load the app for the first time you will wonder why you didn't try it before it's so easy Basically, Download the zip extract the apk to a usb or network drive Install File Explorer app on Shield Use Explorer to navigate to where the apk file is located and click on it1 point

Go complain to Google then as they control when new versions get released - not in EBR's control1 point

Can you post a server log showing a library scan. Other similar topics would suggest a issue with a specific item within that media folder. Unfortunately it can be had to find the exact item. You may have to setup a new library with new Name and Folder and gradually move items from old library to new to find the item/s that could be causing this issue.1 point

That sounds like a job much better done at the file/folder level than in a media display system to me.1 point

First question is why are you replacing your Shield TV? Sent from my SM-G960U1 using Tapatalk1 point

@CelticShady we can provide an option for this in future updates. thanks.1 point

Thank you, from the programmers to the users, to the contributors. I would like put my 2 cents in. I like this idea and it makes sense. In order of my preference: 1. I would settle for having the extras (specials as it is named now) under each Season. I have two examples. ST: Voyager has ~13 extras per season, so that is 91 extras in the Season 0 folder. Law & order has about 5-7 per season but has 20+ seasons, so 100-140 extras. That is a lot to page through. 2. I would also settle for having the extras folders NOT scanned and updated from online. Since there is no DB for this, at least have them not updatable. Maybe pull from the title. When put in Season 0, they are scanned and are trying to be identified as episodes. 3. From there, it would just be nice to see the folders (as labeled by "funwithmedia" in the original post) under each season. I do not mind putting the extras in the right folders and labeling them, so just having them in the seasons under a folder would be amazing. Thanks for the consideration. And "funwithmedia" needs more loving, so like his posts (LOL). Don1 point

Yeah, I'd love for their to be an online DB for all DVD/Blu-Ray extras!! And thanks for your support of my idea / feature request!1 point

I have actually created additional episodes in metadata for Friends, as TVDB doesn't support DVD and Blu-Ray extras and never will. It is quite time consuming and annoying that there is no online database that deals with this information.1 point

This is a great idea! This would be very useful for DVD/Blu-Ray items.1 point

Just giving this a bump for visibility. I've got a bunch of TV shows I'm in the process of converting so am reminded of how much this feature would speed things up.1 point

I want to clarify that it would be great if these various "extras" folder types could reside within each Season folder. So for example, within a Season 1 folder we could then have an "Extras" folder, a "Deleted Scenes" folder, a "Featurettes" folder, etc. I don't see this as replacing the current Season 0 functionality, but rather being really useful for the various TV extras for which there is no TVDB entry. When an extra has a TVDB entry then naming it appropriately (so that it gets identified correctly) and sticking it in the Season 0 folder is definitely the way to go. But it would be super-useful if we could have various extras folders residing within each Season folder, and then that various extras content be automatically displayed at the end of that season's content (probably after any Season 0 content that applies to that season). This would be sooooo much faster than having to edit the metadata for each item when you're dealing with things like deleted scenes that are specific to a particular season. Actually, while I'm wishing for things it would be further nifty if we could even define these various extras folders (which reside within a given Season folder) to refer to a specific episode. So the idea would be that "\TV_SHOW_NAME (2005)\Season 1\Deleted Scenes\" would be Deleted Scenes for all of Season 1 (and so display at the end of Season 1's episodes), and then something like "\TV_SHOW_NAME (2005)\Season 1\E1 - Deleted Scenes\" would be Deleted Scenes specifically for Episode 1 of Season 1 (and thus could be displayed after Episode 1 automatically). The goal with all of this is be able to more easily add various TV extras which don't have metadata (because of not residing in the TVDB) and have them better organized in how they're displayed without having to manually edit a ton of metadata. If I have 6 Deleted Scenes for an episode it is way faster to be able to just name a single folder properly and put the files there than to have to edit the metadata for each file in order for it to show up in a useful place within the episode order. Thanks for your consideration!1 point

Can you change the behavior of extras for TV shows to work like movies? There is a big problem with how it works right now, and that is conflicting with TVDB specials. For example, I am trying to rip the extras for Season1 of a show currently airing season 3. The extras in Season 1 are not in TVDB as specials, so according to the above instructions I should pick an unused specials number for the extras. BUT the show is currently airing, and new specials are constantly being created, so eventually whatever number I pick as an "unused special" will be used in Season 3, or Season 4, or some other season years from now. When that happens, my special will conflict with the ones in TVDB. I think the best solution would be to just make it work like it does for movies, make an extras folder under the season folder, or an extras folder under the main TV show folder. /TV /Show /extras or /TV /Show /Season 1 /Season 1/extras It would also be preferred if the filename was used for the name of the extra, like it is for movies, instead of relying on the MKV metadata. Thanks!1 point

So for TV Specials: (0) Turn off Emby Server or work in a scratch folder (1) Check TVDB for known Specials. Incorporate this in file naming / ordering (2) They go into a single Season 0 folder in the root series folder, with file naming such as this: Season 0\ Dollhouse - S00E01 - Behind the Scenes Season 1.mkv Dollhouse - S00E02 - Cast Interview Season 1.mkv Dollhouse - S00E03 - Behind the Scenes Season 2.mkv Dollhouse - S00E04 - Cast Interview Season 2.mkv (3) Edit metadata of files to have the desired title set in their Metadata, which is what Emby Server will use to assign their names I used MKVtoolnix ( https://mkvtoolnix.download/index.html ) to edit the MKV title property to be the name I was using in the filename for my "specials". I set the E01 episode to be the Unaired Pilot that TVDB knows about. That yields the desired results. (4) Move Files and Folder into TV folder or turn Emby Server back on. Scan Library.1 point

The app is indeed in Dark Mode there. We actually use the Apple TV (tvOS) default colors for dark mode. If you switch your appearance setting under Apple TV to Light you’ll notice it’s quite a bit different.0 points
