  1. Be able to create playlist based on a certain criteria, like genre and or year, in order to create a dynamic playlist that it refreshes automatically when new content is added. This way you can for example, create a tv comedy playlist from the 90's, or a new sci-fi Movies playlist. Some other criteria for rules could be the rating, watched/unwantched, score, tags, language, audio codec, etc The possibilities could be endless

  2. Hi, I would like to have an option to choose H265 instead of H264 in the Transcode option. It will be smaller for all bad bandwidth (2~5Mbit ADSL), but will have a great quality. Mobile phone can benefit of it greatly too with the 4G and the limitation of download.

  3. It would be nice if MBS could incorporate a Commercials.XML file generated from Comskip or ShowAnalyzer and use this to automatically skip over commercials in the web client. Ideally, I'd like to see this work like DVRMSToolbox's DTBAddin. You would have a setting in LiveTV for commercials location. During a media scan, it would match the .XML file name to a recorded TV file and generate the appropriate commercial markers based in the commercials files. When streaming from the web client, it would use this data to automatically bypass the commercials, but allow the user to go back if section was marked incorrectly. Option 1: Translate the commercials file into the chapter/scene markers. Users could manually skip to the next scene. Option 2: Make special commercial markers and automatically skip like DTBAddin Maybe this could expand later where you could have MBS scan files as well.

  4. Hello. Would be great to be able to adjust subitiles delay in Emby Theatre or Web client like we can in VLC with "H" and "J" shortcuts (up and down). Thanks !

  5. Edit (12/19/2020 - Cleaned up code, Re-wrote guide for step-by-step method) Hi everyone, I recently decided to ditch my server's landing page and just use emby itself. I've been making changes to the login page to give it a "Netflix" style and have come up with this: Now, if anyone is interested in accomplishing this, you should know it isn't just CSS. Steps First, there are some edits in manuallogin.html: 1. Find the line <div is="emby-scroller" class="view flex flex-direction-column scrollFrameY flex-grow" data-mousewheel="true" data-horizontal="false" data-centerfocus="card"> and add "custombg" as a class, like so <div is="emby-scroller" class="view flex flex-direction-column scrollFrameY flex-grow custombg" data-mousewheel="true" data-horizontal="false" data-centerfocus="card"> 2. Find the line <div class="scrollSlider flex-grow flex-direction-column padded-left padded-right padded-top-page padded-bottom-page"> and add "custombody" as a class, like so <div class="scrollSlider flex-grow flex-direction-column padded-left padded-right padded-top-page padded-bottom-page custombody"> 3. Find the line with the <form> tag and replace it with <form class="customoverlay"> Optional: If you'd like to add custom buttons, simply place and alter the following code after a </button> tag <a is="emby-button" class="raised block emby-button" href="https://myforum.com">Forum</a> Then, in your Emby settings, add this Custom CSS: .customoverlay { background-color:rgba(0,0,0,.75); -webkit-border-radius:6px; -moz-border-radius:6px; border-radius:6px; -webkit-box-sizing:border-box; -moz-box-sizing:border-box; box-sizing:border-box; display:-webkit-box; display:-webkit-flex; display:-moz-box; display:-ms-flexbox; display:flex; -webkit-box-orient:vertical; -webkit-box-direction:normal; -webkit-flex-direction:column; -moz-box-orient:vertical; -moz-box-direction:normal; -ms-flex-direction:column; flex-direction:column; margin:0 auto; min-height:515px; padding:40px 40px 40px; width:100% } .custombg { background:url('https://i.imgur.com/ynv9BKl.jpg'); background-size:cover; -webkit-background-size:cover; -moz-background-size:cover; -o-background-size:cover; height:100vh; position:fixed; background-position:center center; background-repeat:no-repeat } .custombody { height:100vh; overflow-y:auto; overflow-x:hidden; -webkit-overflow-scrolling:touch } Optional: Add the following css as well in order to hide the "Forgot Password" and "Cancel" buttons. .btnForgotPassword { display:none!important } .buttonCancel { display:none!important } You can now replace the background url with any image you want to use. I've kept in a temporary one. Note: In order to see the changes to manuallogin.html, you likely have to clear your browser cache. Hopefully someone might find this post useful. Special thanks to @Happy2Play for always answering my CSS questions.

  6. I'm having a intermittent issue of when I'm watching a TV show every so often it hangs on the "Loading" screen between episodes, this only happen on my TCL 50S425 Roku TV after the most recent update. I gave a while to make sure its not a one time problem or just with a specific type file. Is anyone else having this problem ?

  7. This afternoon I was watching a movie when the movie frozen, then Roku rebooted. When it came back to life the Emby Roku app had updated. I picked up where it left off and played the rest of the movie perfectly. The problem is the display of movies in a collection. Since the update now displays the movies horizontally with only 3 movies on showing without scrolling. The box surrounding the movie poster is laid out is landscape with the poster a portrait inside. What a waste of space. Can't this layout issue be fixed

  8. https://github.com/Dador/JavascriptSubtitlesOctopus It "Displays subtitles in .ass format via JavaScript. Supports all SSA/ASS features, easily integrates with HTML5 videos." I've been meaning to ask about this for literally two years, I just keep forgetting EVERY time I see it in my bookmarks.

  9. Oh that's cool, yeah I'd rather something automatically just make collections for the most part, then add custom ones if I need to. Thanks I'll try it!

  12. I am using Roon for music but that is not working on android tv (nvidia shield) That is why i am trying emby, better support for those devices. I do not have find one solution platform that is performing good in all fields of music/movie streaming. @cayars I like integration with tidal/qobuz.

  14. Okay, so I'm thinking maybe it is the UK 1080p h264 channels that won't play without transcoding...? We're trying to narrow this down so that we can make the app "just work" instead of having to tweak all of these options.

  15. As far as I know there are no browsers that support mkv containers currently, that is why the media gets repackaged. You should see in the ffmpeg log that the codec audio and video are copied to a new container. Go to html5test.com and look at the Streaming-video codecs section every browser will have slightly different capabilities.

  16. From a purely personal BIAS, I'd rather not have Emby filtering stuff. Some things should be the responsibility of the user or curator to only feed valid files to the system. This particular problem is super easy to solve outside of Emby that we shouldn't cause other problems like you experience with "Joe Sample" or "Free Samples (2012)" etc.. But that's just my very personal vote.

  17. I also upped the 'limit' to 200 on both lines. So far I haven't seen a problem on my Shield. I am not sure of the ramifications of that, but my assumption would just be memory or speed, and so far, no issues with either.

  18. Nothing wrong with leaving the feature request for enhancements but I think you have to be realistic about when it might get worked on given the frankly huge list of outstanding requests and your acknowledgement that what is there suffices for the most part.

  19. Would really appreciate someone looking over this from the Dev team and throwing some ideas for troubleshooting at us, sounds like a few people have the problem, or at least a similar problem.

  20. @Luke, I've gone ahead and installed the server package for my ASUStor NAS. I'm pleasantly surprised at the performance over my NVIDIA Shield. My dual core ARM NAS with no H/W acceleration capability is actually transcoding near instantaneously and isn't suffering from my problem in this thread. It looks like I will be retiring the server on the NVIDIA Shield and opting for my NAS instead. Doesn't make a lot of sense on how it can outperform it but I'm not complaining.

  23. Cayers, you were correct about my DDNS Client. I can't honestly say that I know exactly what the issue was however, deleting the synthetic record from google domains, and creating a new one helped. I also found an article here https://askubuntu.com/questions/719616/ddclient-with-google-domains-dynamic-dns-to-ssh-into-my-desktop about google neglecting to tell users they needed quotes around their password for DD Client. That was final piece of the puzzle, and once I did that my external access worked again. I'm going to take this whole thread, and make notes about what could have been wrong, and I'll probably try to share those on the forums. I read through some of my old posts when I originally setup SSL, and I ran into the same issue last time. Thanks again for everyone's help.

  25. ok ,so I found MinSegments=1 in the log. I believe this is the issue. I think that I'm already done playing that first segment before the second one has been written and the m3u8 updated. Is it possible to change this to 2? I believe that would solve this. If it were a toggle in the transcoder config that would be even better. Thoughts?

  26. @muzicman0 Yes you can, you need to build the target plugin URL though, EmbyCon can do this for you. Open EmbyCon and navigate to the Emby library node EmbyCon -> Emby libraries scroll down to your desired library and select it. when the list of nodes shows (Show All, etc) scroll down to the Recently added, this is probably the best one for what you want. then with Recently Added selected bring up the context menu and select Add to favorites. Now you need to go to your favorites in Kodi to make sure it worked. If it worked and you can seleted it in your favorites and you see the Recently added Movie list then move on the the next step. if not you added the wrong thing tot he favorites above. Now open your favorites.xml file from the following DIR \Kodi\userdata\favourites.xml In this file you will see the RAW url used to access the above items, it should look like this: <favourites> <favourite name="Movies - Recently Added (20)" thumb="C:\Users\shfaulds\AppData\Roaming\Kodi\addons\plugin.video.embycon\icon.png">ActivateWindow(10025,&quot;plugin://plugin.video.embycon/?media_type=movies&amp;mode=GET_CONTENT&amp;sort=none&amp;url=%7bserver%7d%2femby%2fUsers%2f%7buserid%7d%2fItems%3fIncludeItemTypes%3dMovie%26GroupItemsIntoCollections%3dFalse%26Recursive%3dTrue%26format%3djson%26Fields%3d%7bfield_filters%7d%26CollapseBoxSetItems%3dFalse%26IsMissing%3dFalse%26ImageTypeLimit%3d1%26SortBy%3dDateCreated%26Filters%3dIsNotFolder%26ParentId%3df137a2dd21bbc1b99aa5c0f6bf02a805%26IsPlayed%3dFalse%26SortOrder%3dDescending&quot;,return)</favourite> </favourites> You want to extract the EmbyCon URL from the above, it will look like this: plugin://plugin.video.embycon/?media_type=movies&amp;mode=GET_CONTENT&amp;sort=none&amp;url=%7bserver%7d%2femby%2fUsers%2f%7buserid%7d%2fItems%3fIncludeItemTypes%3dMovie%26GroupItemsIntoCollections%3dFalse%26Recursive%3dTrue%26format%3djson%26Fields%3d%7bfield_filters%7d%26CollapseBoxSetItems%3dFalse%26IsMissing%3dFalse%26ImageTypeLimit%3d1%26SortBy%3dDateCreated%26Filters%3dIsNotFolder%26ParentId%3df137a2dd21bbc1b99aa5c0f6bf02a805%26IsPlayed%3dFalse%26SortOrder%3dDescending Its the bit inside the &quot; Then use the above in your Home.xml movies content like this <content sortby="random" limit="50">plugin://plugin.video.embycon/?media_type=movies&amp;mode=GET_CONTENT&amp;sort=none&amp;url=%7bserver%7d%2femby%2fUsers%2f%7buserid%7d%2fItems%3fIncludeItemTypes%3dMovie%26GroupItemsIntoCollections%3dFalse%26Recursive%3dTrue%26format%3djson%26Fields%3d%7bfield_filters%7d%26CollapseBoxSetItems%3dFalse%26IsMissing%3dFalse%26ImageTypeLimit%3d1%26SortBy%3dDateCreated%26Filters%3dIsNotFolder%26ParentId%3df137a2dd21bbc1b99aa5c0f6bf02a805%26IsPlayed%3dFalse%26SortOrder%3dDescending</content> And boom you have backgrounds only from that library and only the most recent ones. This can be done for any of the menu noes in EmbyCon.

  28. It's something in your configuration that will cause it. It could be as simple as creating thumbnail images in the background during it's initial loading. Not using Hardware transcoding if available, etc. As an admin users log into your Emby Console and look to see if anyone is playing anything and if it's transcoding. Click on the Schedule menu and look to see if any processes are running (like thumbnail images). If you don't see anything download TeamViewer and send me a PM with your ID and one-time use password and I'll give you a hand remotely. NOW that's a difference between Plex and Emby. You can beg Plex for help and <crickets>. Here we offer help and will go the extra mile.

  29. Overload the subtitle method with an offset millisecond-integer parameter sounds like a quick addition to the core. After that, the client code could simply call the overloaded method by adding the offset from a slider in the GUI. You'll be done by lunch.

  30. We actually did upgrade the hardware. However, there is a lot more involved than just the back end server. I think probably the additional delay you are perceiving now is due to the fact that the forum now refreshes as you go back. The old one did not - you got stale data from the cache. But, just like people work - software tends to consume the resources available to it.

  31. Please bring back the Grid View in Collections on the Roku. A "single" line view is unacceptable and renders Collections as nearly unusable. Thanks for all that you do to make Emby a great product.
    1 point
  32. I too was surprised by the update... my collections used to be a nice, navigable grid, and are now a single horizontal line showing three items at once. This is virtually unusable! My collections are all of the same type of media, and I desperately want my grid view back. We always open a collection (for example, current TV shows), and browse the grid to see what we want to watch next. This was a beautiful, intuitive, and functional interface that has now become unusable. One more thing that changed for the worse (dropped back, actually): the number of episodes shown on the folder in the collection view used to diminish by one each time you watched an episode. Now you need to exit the collection and re-enter to update this number (this is how it used to be a long time ago – we've regressed!). Please fix these issues! Thank you.

  33. Appearance is for interfacess a lot like it is for marriages: And in this case Emby can really "cook" and she ain't bad lookin' either. So we have the best of both worlds. There is no reason to try to make the Mona Lisa prettier. There is something called "Gilding the Lilly"

  34. I think that the Emby Team has shown that they can make change. That being said, it's a small team, and functionality does take precedence. The design has evolved incrementally over time, and I expect it will continue to do so. A "complete redesign" of the Emby ecosystem would be extremely costly, and could likely kill the project as we know it. I don't think anyone wants that.

  35. Thanks all - I've just plugged in the Shield Pro and had a play (still on the 5.1) but all I can say is wow with the True-HD and DTS-X .. I didn't really think it would be that much different to AC3/DTS tbh but how wrong I was. Sound depth and imaging are a massive improvement - I cannot wait now to get the Atmos speakers in ! Also had a quick play with the Shield AI Upscaler - now the LG OLED C8 has a pretty good upscaler built in, but the Shield upscaler has blown me away - I really had to double check the quality of some of the SD content I was testing it with to check it wasn't a HD source. VERY impressed with the Shield Pro so far .. .. well worth the wait.

  36. For me not even one of the "points" matter at all. I only use the interface to select media to watch or I use the web interface only to maintain my library and "pretty" matters very little but functionality matters a lot and Emby is very functional. I "watch" my media I do not "watch" the interface. In fact as long as the interface is easy to use, as it is, the appearance of the interface is virtually meaningless to me. I think Emby should not waste development time and resources making Emby "prettier" they should spend their resources improving and enhancing the functionality.

  37. I'd suggest you catch more flies with honey but honestly, who wants flies?!? You win more converts with compelling arguments. That's better. 'You all suck, I know, I'm an internet expert' isn't a compelling argument. If you have good design ideas the team will listen. You might want to back them up with some before & after screens showing the improvement. Your screenshot showing your own personal tweaks hasn't been well received but that could be an attitude thing...

  38. Can you actually give examples of what it is that you do not like about the appearance of Emby? Otherwise there's no way to improve on it. Personally I think it looks great on my ShieldTV's in the AndroidTV app.

  39. Fixing hung and invisible streaming sessions is a worthwhile endeavor, but perhaps just implementing a rotating transcoding buffer (configurable or based on EGP program start/stop times) would be more productive. I had transcoding-temp fill up an 80GB volume quite a few times. I frequently just leave TV on for background noise while I work, and often without changing channels. I got tired of restarting Emby, or changing channels just to manage the temp files, so I bought a pair of 512GB SSD drives to upgrade the volume, and getting religious about exiting from Live TV on my Roku every single time. I've still had two or three instances of a completely full volume, 450+GB of temp files. If Emby would rotate transcoding temp files every 30 minutes, or when a program ends, per the EPG, then the smaller volume would have been enough.

  40. From the reporting that @ has been doing on the progress of the underlying mpv development it sounds like the tonemapping is getting much better. If you have any needs outside of running Emby it may sway your decision. Other streaming apps, running the server on the same hardware, gaming, power/noise, remote, updates, etc. For me it really came down to not wanting a Windows PC in my setup, I want a simple media device not a full blow computer but other may feel different.
