  2. Bro, it doesnt matter, The damn server is idle lol.. Nothing is playing or doing anything, It is sitting idle, why would these settings make any difference when nothing is playing or transcoding? It has been sitting idle for hours. Anyways I dont want to go off topic here. I will start a new thread if it continues to happen. I will monitor for 24 hrs and see how it goes. Thanks for trying to help. I appreciate that.

  3. I meant, if you have issue with your Emby server/Apps that running on mac OS, then best to post about it on the correct forum based on your OS, so the dev can help you to solve the issue.

  4. As I'm transitioning from Volumio and Plex to Emby to centralize my usage to one app, the one thing I'm missing the most is gapless playback. This is particulary annoying when listening to albums like "Dark Side of the Moon" by Pink Floyd. I'm experiencing a buffer of about 1 second in between songs, which really ruins the immersion. Would be awesome if this would be implemented in both the Chromecast, and web player.

  5. Pretty simple suggestion. I have multiple users for my Emby server. If I want to do continuous maintenance on the media, I have to tell everyone. some of them are harder to reach than others ( i.e. no Facebook or Skype chat etc. ) It would be great if say... on the admin panel, I could hit a check box that enables 'maintenance mode', where the server still runs does everything as normal, but instead of the login screen it displays a maintenance page saying the server is unavailable. Even better if I were able to directly put a reason in a text box that would then display on the login screen as well. Not really sure what others would think of this, but for me it would be quite helpful. mostly if I want to make sure no one is trying to access content I know won't work until I've done a full library scan again. Thanks for reading. -Kyle

  6. Hello, I think it would be great to have a HA option to have 2 emby server totally redundancy. What do you think about that?

  8. Hi, It would be helpful if you add collections to search results. If you have a few hundred collections, it become a chore to find what you are looking for by sorting through them manually. The same argument could be made for Genres, specially with genre cleaner plugin and Emby's ability to handle custom genres. Optional: If polluting the results is an issue then perhaps a search syntax could be added that you can type in the search box to make the results more specific. example; collections: search-query (only returns the results from collection) genres: search-query (only returns the results from genres) custom-media-library: search-query (only return the results from that specific library) Thanks,

  9. If you nuked the library.db and disabled or removed the MusicBrainz plugin and are still getting these id, then they would have to be in metadata within the folder or embedded in the album tracks. Ideally you would need to use ffprobe to read the info from the tracks as that is what Emby uses. I believe you have to look at extended tags in mp3tag to see musicbrainz tags if tagged.

  10. And reading through these and others is why I signed up to the lifetime deal After 24 hrs the CPU has settled down. As you said it could have still been doing the thumbnails etc. Thanks again to offer help. This is indeed rare these days.

  11. Best guess would be the Musicbrainz metadata match. Select edit metadata on the item, what externalids are shown?

  12. My files are named like ... Parasite (2019) - 720p Parasite (2019) - 1080p Parasite (2019) - 2160p Parasite (2019) - 1080p B&W ... and it works fine. All in different folders. Version 4.4.3.0

  13. Replying to an old topic, but I do kinda integrate Netflix and Amazon into my Emby library in a hacky way that might be something that can be expanded upon. 1. I have scripts that create dummy video files with Netflix or Prime in the name for shows on Amazon 2. Emby scans them and adds them as normal 3. I have a script on my NVidia Kodi that launches Netflix or Amazon whenever these are played and marks as watched correctly It does not automatically launch that show, just the app, but it is good enough for my purposes of just keeping everything we are watching under the Emby umbrella. What would be nice for me would be a way to do #1 from inside of Emby. xnappo

  14. I know this will not directly address your issues about the popup and you very well might have a point as far as it being intrusive but I, as a former Plex user and a current Emby user with lifetime premier licenses on both platforms, I can very comfortably say that Emby, for the purpose of watching owned content, is vastly superior and well worth the low price of a premier license. I suggest that, if the popup is so irritating to you you spend the very low monthly fee for a month or two to see if it is to your liking and then, if it is, upgrade to yearly or lifetime. If it is not then just stop the premier renewal and let the license lapse. It really is a small price to pay to have an uninterrupted viewing experience to evaluate Emby. You may be very correct in your assessment about the nag message but you can also be assured that Emby is not going to change their policies based on the complaints of one potential paid user. Emby has its warts but they are different and less intrusive than the ones Plex has. The big advantage of Emby is in its responsiveness to user problems. They almost always answer questions or fix reported bugs about as fast as it can possibly happen, The actual developers respond to most issues and they do listel to their users but, just like the Christian God, they here and answer all prayers but sometimes the answer is "no." Again I recommend you try Emby with premier for a few months and the either drop it or go lifetime premier. It is a small cost to be absolutely sure. One more thing: It "sounds" like you are watching using the same machine you are running the server on I recommend that you use a client box instead. Emby is really designed as a client server media solution and it seems to really work smoother that way. The clients I have tested and use are: Roku (Ultra and 3). Fire 4K stick, Fire TV, Shield TV and, of course, a free standing computer running as a HTPC. I use Roku Ultras almost all the time because of their ease of use and stability. You can take my advice or not. It is offered just as an idea to move forward in watching your media.

  15. I hope you're not intending on using the horrible ET OSD in the ATV app?? It should be the other way round.

  16. In the end the solution was to create libraries named docu1 and docu2 docu 1 -movies (baraka recognized only like a movie ) docu 2 -series (planet earth\blue planet recognized only if is a tv series ) Thanks for your help @Riggs

  17. Yes, please elaborate a little more. In your example above, it is from the web app which is designed for desktop use. We do use some slightly different sizes and layouts for 10' (TV) use but, for the most part, they are fairly identical. For example, the item detail screen is designed for a bit more emphasis on the background art since it is displayed on your big screen TV. The playback OSD is currently undergoing its unification. This app was last because I know old timers are going to scream bloody murder about it. As for specific theme colors - we've found we cannot use the exact same colors on web and TV due to the way TVs are usually calibrated. Colors that look good on a desktop or phone are over-saturated and "blow out" on a TV device. So we have adjusted those a bit as well. However, a bit more unification on the actual choices is next on the list after the OSD.

  18. The way you're mounting the external drives is likely the problem. The path used (/run/media/user/partition name) is an indication that Automount (udisks2?) and/or GUI is involved. Two issues: 1. They're mounted within the context of the user who performs the action - your permissions. 2. The /run tree is recreated on system reboot - all changes to the structure are lost (ownership/permissions). Create entries in the fstab for the drives, using UUID, the correct fstype and to permanent mount directories. Start with 'defaults' for the options and work from there. Once you get it working they should mount on boot or 'mount -a' if attached when the server is running.

  19. Ohh I think That I saw the problem. You put that documentary inside a TV Shows library, and that documentary should be treated as a movie

  20. @@thrillcat This isn't meant to be adversarial, so please don't take it the wrong way... You speak of home theater power users and those who will spend big $$ on getting the best of everything. You've proposed a tiring of the application pricing for those users with more features. In the mean time, for some reason, you are stuck on using ATV (a fine media device I'm sure) as your preferred streaming device... A device which is really not a high end, audiophile, home theater power user, device. It's meant for basic streaming from the internet of content that Apple approves or creates. It is Apple that really has created this deficiency that you associate with Emby. Have you reached out to Apple to ask why they produce a device that fails to support bit-streaming of formats that true power users want? What about trying to convince them that they should build a media streaming device that would meet all the needs of the true home theater power user? If for a moment, you could get their ear, the same answer would be given. That's not what the market wants. They have produced a device for the masses, not for the niche home theater power user market. So how can we expect Emby to suddenly have more resources than a media bohemoth like Apple? The Emby team is constantly working on a LOT of improvements to both the server and all the apps. Those improvements have to be prioritized and balanced based on what the customers (masses) want, and what is technically feasible.

  21. Just a point of clarification: Our standard device limit is 25. We still believe that to be more than enough for any reasonable household (and extended family). And we have options for more above that so this has nothing to do with the control of your own users.

  22. This is a double-edged sword for us. The reason this is much easier for them is because they capture the end user as a user of Plex - not a user of your system. We would like to get better multi-server features but, when you are in complete control of your server and users instead of us, it becomes a much harder thing to do. The primary reason they are designed this way is because the moves they are making now were in their plans all along. They had to be because the real money to be made is by capturing the user and being able to present content to them from any number of sources. We have not taken (and do not plan to take) that approach. Plex, I'm sure, has always planned to because that would really be the only path to the returns their original investors will require.

  23. That fancy new integration does/will come at a high cost. Already, Plex has turned it's back on a lot of other features in order to try and be the central hub for all content from different providers. Personally, I think it's doomed to failure. The media industry has too many restrictions, and apps move too fast. No media service is going to develop an API that third parties can actually use. I would much rather buy a good media device (Nvidia Shield, or Roku) and use that to be my portal to all of the different services. In that way, those services create the apps and keep them up to date. I started using Emby because it supported LiveTV and Plex did not. The support and feedback from the devs here is light-years beyond what I saw with Plex. One reason I continue to use Emby hasn't really been covered. I'm in complete control of my server and users. This is an area where Plex has really (IMHO) trampled on the rights of those running servers. Plex treats your (the server admin) users as their own. Seeking to control what can be seen done at the user level. By contrast, Emby allows me to run my own server and control my own users. Nobody has to create a separate Plex account to access anything. You don't "have" to use Emby Connect in any way if you don't want to. Personally, I ran the two side by side for quite some time until I just found myself not using Plex anymore, so removed it. All of my users are extremely happy with Emby and the ease of use.
