  2. I think it'd be a great feature to have a "Report Issue" button or dropdown option on media. This way a user could could report problems like the media not working or subtitles being wrong and eliminate needing third party tools. This could even be a plugin.

  3. This thread is the very reason why I previously advocated that the Feature Requests needed to be tracked and prioritized into a true feature list. It's just good engineering practice. (1) Make a total list of requests; (2) prioritize based on immediate need vs nice to haves; (3) keep the list running based on what is currently being worked vs what is still in the upcoming stage; (4) make the list visible to all on where each request item is in the development cycle so that all can see and then they don't have to keep asking these questions (they can readily see what has already been requested) and you might cut down on some duplicate requests; (5) check off accomplishments as you go so that all can compare what has been requested vs what has been implemented. (6) major fixes and problems with current capabilities get priority interrupt over current development and future nice to haves. In my world its called the IMS & IMP (integrated master schedule, integrated master plan) but at its heart is just a simple prioritized "to do" list that can be checked off when things are "done". Otherwise you're just running an ad-hoc railroad and no one knows what time the trains get to any of the stations. It probably cuts down on having to give a lot of canned responses to "yes it's planned for the future". They can be directed to the list and see where it is in the future and probably stop bugging you about when. Just a suggestion. I myself have resigned to not worrying any more about when things are coming since the things I'm more concerned about seem to be a good distance into the future. But to give yourselves some well deserved peace at night (meaning sleep) as developers it might help to give folks a notional plan just to let them know where they stand in the pecking order. For me personally, the things that Emby can't currently deliver, I am having to use other platforms to augment. When and until Emby get's them I'll continue that way. I'll certainly be glad when Emby gets them but I can't deny myself using them knowing that they exist waiting on Emby to implement. Again I'm certainly pulling for you guys because I like the direction that you're going but for my personal use full functionality is not quite there yet. All of your efforts are greatly appreciated. Keep up the good work. We're all pulling for you. Thank you

  4. As I'm transitioning from Volumio and Plex to Emby to centralize my usage to one app, the one thing I'm missing the most is gapless playback. This is particulary annoying when listening to albums like "Dark Side of the Moon" by Pink Floyd. I'm experiencing a buffer of about 1 second in between songs, which really ruins the immersion. Would be awesome if this would be implemented in both the Chromecast, and web player.

  5. Pretty simple suggestion. I have multiple users for my Emby server. If I want to do continuous maintenance on the media, I have to tell everyone. some of them are harder to reach than others ( i.e. no Facebook or Skype chat etc. ) It would be great if say... on the admin panel, I could hit a check box that enables 'maintenance mode', where the server still runs does everything as normal, but instead of the login screen it displays a maintenance page saying the server is unavailable. Even better if I were able to directly put a reason in a text box that would then display on the login screen as well. Not really sure what others would think of this, but for me it would be quite helpful. mostly if I want to make sure no one is trying to access content I know won't work until I've done a full library scan again. Thanks for reading. -Kyle

  6. Goal To use Album and Title as well as Artist tags when identifying artists on Musizbrainz (not just artist) Improve Artwork and Biographies in Emby. A proof of concept to lend weight that more accurate matching is possible. Design Adds some flexibility into the artist match around common substitutions (started/WIP) Matches artist against MBZ lookup of album+artist+title, falling back when necessary to artist+title, then just title Using MBZ recording endpoint which provides artist credits (ready) and aliases (WIP/if necessary), increasing the chance of a correct match test mode logs proposed changes without actioning log includes links to old and new data to aid checking of results. My results 10% improvement (by number of correct matches) mostly made of correcting previously incorrectly identified artists via the automated emby fetcher + a few new matches. 1000 corrected matches. Some limited ability to work around errors in the source tags. Helped identify a number of incorrectly tagged data. ('99.9%' is matchable if correctly tagged) some example highlights... Artist=Final Fantasy, Track=Flare Gun Album = Indie/Rock Playlist: June (2007) correctly (fixed) matched by recording on artist+title to Owen Pallett (by obscure artist credit) https://musicbrainz.org/artist/6d394418-a565-4c16-9dec-f5a89e213cde Artist=Agnes Track=Release Me Album=Now That's What I Call Music! 73 correctly (fixed) matched by recording on artist+title+album disambiguated Agnes - male Swiss techno/house producer, who performed a track release me but but not on this album https://musicbrainz.org/artist/e9708921-d68d-43e2-a838-fdca7c68ad01 to correct Agnes - female Agnes Carlsson, Swedish Idol 2005 winner https://musicbrainz.org/artist/54e93235-2034-478d-b47b-a985828193b7 Installation requires latest Powershell, run script under latest version pwsh.exe tested on windows, although should be agnostic. requires an api key and url in config. Issues and suggestions welcome. caveats a bug in beta with character encoding is causing an issue with matching artists with special characters. keep in test mode until fixed. Changes V0.0.0.2 New - Only 1 example track from each album potentially used (if the one track is not found by album, unlikely 2nd will be) New - Add path of track into log to aid fixing tags, if there is no match then almost certain the tags are wrong. Fix - attempted to zero variables correctly at end of the loop Fix - references to hardcoded paths ArtistFetcher v0.0.0.2.zip ArtistFetcher v0.0.0.1.zip

  7. This afternoon I was watching a movie when the movie frozen, then Roku rebooted. When it came back to life the Emby Roku app had updated. I picked up where it left off and played the rest of the movie perfectly. The problem is the display of movies in a collection. Since the update now displays the movies horizontally with only 3 movies on showing without scrolling. The box surrounding the movie poster is laid out is landscape with the poster a portrait inside. What a waste of space. Can't this layout issue be fixed

  8. Hi, I vaguely recall there being some reference to upgrades to Emby Connect on the horizon at the end of last year? I typically haven't worried too much about this, as I was generally the only one using it while traveling in the past. And I could usually navigate around the issues. But during COVID I had the time to digitize all of my photos, old videos, etc. So naturally family members wanted to access and see this. What a nightmare. "Enjoying Your Personal Media Has Never Been Easier" is probably the furthest thing from the truth. It could be that remote access to Emby servers is not a priority on the production schedule? Would be good to know as I have invested hours in this process with elderly parents and relatives who should never know what an IP address is.

  9. I have noticed in some instances that Live TV (from both M3U and HDHomerun) can freeze for a split second a couple of times when initially played. It can last for up to 5 mins before it settles down. The fix I have for it currently is to pause the Live TV for 30 seconds at the beginning which seems to effectively resolve the problem. From the emby server page, it seems to happen with both direct streaming and transcode streams, however the issue is noticeably prolonged with a transcode stream. Is there a setting where we can increase a buffer size on Live TV? If not it would certainly be a useful feature. Thanks

  10. Decided to give this a try, Windows store has it as a 24 hour trial, however, I cannot seem to login. Says login failure every time... I've tried e-mail and password, username and password, etc... I've tried on a different pc in the house than the server, no dice... anyone got any ideas? If I can't get it to work during the 24 hour test, I will forgo purchasing it...

  11. Not sure if this is a bug or not, but I'd like to request this a feature of not. Extras etc... do not show if there are multiple versions of a movie grouped together.

  12. It would be really nice if a filter could be applied to exclude movies that are already part of any collections. I have a very large collection (1000+ movies) and right now the only way to determine if any particular movie is already a part of that collection is to open a movie and see if it's shows that movie collection icon. This gets tedious and waste a lot of time. If I could apply a filter which excluded movies that are already part of any collections, I would only see titles that haven't been added to any collections. Also, I was once told that the total number of movies in a collection would be viewable from web browsers again after that feature disappeared during a major update over a year ago.

  15. Again - this was the purpose of my post - to explore need vs. functionality. In my mind there are two use cases: 1. The owner of the Emby server wanting to access their server from remote locations. In this case it is assumed that the Emby server owner is somewhat technically proficient and therefore jumping through hoops to make it work is not a problem. I fall into that category and indeed I do jump through hoops to make it work - for example watching content while on a treadmill at a hotel while traveling - or at least I used to do that and hopefully will again in the future. 2. The owner of the Emby server wanting to provide access to their server to friends and family to share content. In this particular use case the process is not all user friendly. The assumption is that these people are not tech savvy and the steps that one has to undertake are beyond most of them. I usually have to get on a FaceTime call and walk them through each step and it fails about 50% of the time. The error messages are impossible to decipher - there is a problem connecting with the server. And when my remote users start poking around they start seeing options to add servers, they see a tile for the server that they were connected to but it of course doesn't work, and then when they dig further they start seeing IP address prompts etc. Again if this is not a desired use case then I will stand down on this issue. Regarding my specific problem that prompted this whole discussion. It appears that my server is no longer visible outside of my home network. I thought initially this was due to configuration issues with the remote clients. But inexplicably my server is no longer working remotely. The port shows open in my router and when I probe the port externally. Anything else I can do to test this?

  17. Yes, we plan to improve the way collections are displayed. Thanks.

  18. yes I understand that, but the layout is still the same. When I say dynamic layout, I mean you can have the my media as a bar on the side going down where the other half of the screen has a latest 2 items of each section. or if I wanted to split the home screen in 4 sections and just have a module show in each block. Think of something like wordpress or dotnetnuke, which gives you layout templates to work with or the community can create layout templates that you can use to change the layout of the site. With Emby, It doesn't matter who's Emby you look at, you have the menu bar on top and flow layout panels running down the page.

  20. As rule you should add an exclusions to Windows Defender by point to C:\Users\emby\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server and any media folder so that doesn't scan causes speed bumps even on SSD

  21. What is your system server spec list of all hardware and layout ?. In emby what is transcoding temporary path set to ?. what anti virus are you using ?.

  23. This is controlled by this option under the Users account Make sure you untick it for your users. That way, they won't be able to see other devices that aren't local to them.

  24. I've sadly had to turn collections off due to this change. It's an annoyance, but not as much as losing the grid layout. I somewhat understand the reasoning due to mixed media, but I'd venture a guess that's a smaller number of users than those of us who just group a category like "Movies" into collections so we don't have to see 9 Star Wars or 3 John Wicks or 300 Fast and Furious titles in the initial category.

  25. This is do to it being sorted by Last episode date added not Series date added.

  26. If I understand you correctly, I will get the display I want if no single collection contains more than 30 items. I have 2 collections that have more than 30 items so I deleted them and rescanned the database thinking that the display will change. The results are the same, can only see three items before I have to scroll right.

  27. A major face-lift for the Roku app - bringing it more in line with the other apps - is on its way to your Roku device. 4.0 brings the familiar "tab" style interface to this app. Allowing you to easily move between views in a library and set your default landing page in each of them. To set the default landing tab, simply enter a library and select the "cog" wheel at the top (or use the * button on your remote). In addition to the new library interface, the music player has been updated to the new view seen in the other apps as well. We hope you enjoy these long-awaited updates for our Roku app. Your device should update automatically when available. View the full article

  30. Appearance is for interfacess a lot like it is for marriages: And in this case Emby can really "cook" and she ain't bad lookin' either. So we have the best of both worlds. There is no reason to try to make the Mona Lisa prettier. There is something called "Gilding the Lilly"
