Starlionblue 80
Good afternoon. I have a Roku Streaming Stick + without Emby installed (since there's no Emby server in that location and Internet service is poor). I want to cast a downloaded Emby movie from my phone to the Roku stick. I can cast from YouTube on my phone to the Roku, but I don't get the option in the Emby casting menu. Any ideas? ebr 14912
Hi. The app needs to be installed to cast and it will come from the server, not your phone. Does that answer your question?

You can also use the Miracast feature of the Roku to do this. The Roku should show as a casting device on your phone. You can mirror anything from your phone to the Roku stick this way. On your phone will be some way to select which casting device it will use. I know Android supports this behavior. If the media is already on your phone you do not need to use Emby to send it you can send it direct from your phone to the Roku. Emby requires a server to do this and if you are remote it will be a poor experience over the internet. Doing it direct to your Roku via miracast will be much better experience. https://support.roku.com/article/208754928-how-to-use-screen-mirroring-with-your-android-or-windows-device
Starlionblue 80
Hi. The app needs to be installed to cast and it will come from the server, not your phone. Does that answer your question? The location is another flat, with a TV that has a Roku, but no reachable Emby server. I've downloaded the content to Emby on my phone from my Emby server, and now want to play it on the TV by casting to the Roku. I'm pretty sure this is possible with Netflix offline content btw. I tried this with an iOS screen mirroring app but the performance was horrid. I'll experiment a bit.
