longstreath 5
I have just installed Emby on my Synology DS918 After running the Emby app from the server, I tried to add a movies folder using the wizard, but get stuck with Emby not being able to find the path. My actual path is Synology DS918/volume1/Movies/Movies I would then want to add another movies folder in Synology DS918/volume1/Movies/Cartoons When I try to get to either the Movies folder or the Cartoons folder, it tells me that it cant find the path. The actual Synology access link is: https://MYSERVERNAME.synology.me:60000/index.cgi?launchApp=SYNO.SDS.App.FileStation3.Instance&launchParam=openfile%3D%2FMovies%2FMovies%2F Where I have replaced the server name with MYSERVERNAME. If I try to enter this, it also cannot find the path. What am I doing wrong here?
Solution Carlo 4331 Posted July 4, 2021 Solution Share Posted July 4, 2021 This sounds like a permission issue. Did you give /movies/movies access for Emby for read/write permissions?

Yes, I have given Emby the R/W permissions, but it does not seem to want to get through the second part of the path so just stops at volume1/Movies and wont see the second folder. What about chmod +X on that directory to allow reading the subdirectory tree? Edited July 4, 2021 by speechles

Then "su emby" to become the Emby user and see what you can see and not see. Edited July 4, 2021 by speechles
