Can't Connect to New Emby Server Install on Nvidia Shield

Good afternoon All,

I oringinally installed the emby server on an Nvidia Shield for my brother-in-law back in 2019 to be used with a portable harddrive. When in use this install worked well and and he was happy. He is not very tech savy and wasn't really using the Shield but came to me recently (last month) to start using it again. To my surprise the Emby Server app said that it was not compatiable with the current version of Android that was currently on his Shield and could not be accessed.

As a result, I decidied to uninstall this version of the Emby Server app and installed the latest version (4.5.4.0). Once installed, as normal, I get an IP address to login. For some reason I cannot login to this server. I tried using a laptop, my phone and even a browser on the Nvidia Shield. All devices are on the same local network and I have no problem logging into my person Emby server using these same devices. See screenshots below.

Can someone please help me with this?

Thanks

Take a look at the router DHCP assignment to verify if that is the correct IP of the shield.

Let us know what you find.

Just checked and can't find a device on my network with that IP address.

How can I resolve that?

Thanks

Were you able to find the Shield TV IP in the DHCP list?

OK, so make sure Emby server is started and then try connecting to it again.

Hi. What happens if you put that address directly in the browser address bar instead of trying to go through app.emby.media?

Dang it, thought I mentioned to do that earlier. :(

Hi there, are you sure emby server is started and running on the server machine?

Right so what happens if you open a web browser on your PC and enter

http://192.168.1.16:8096 in the URL line up top?

He showed that above.

I think the only conclusion is that something on the network is blocking access or the two devices are on different networks.

From your PC if you open a command box can you ping the Shield TV?

ping 192.168.1.16

Let us know if you can do that.

Also are both you computer and Shield TV on the same network and connected the same way?  IE both ethernet or both WIFI?

What should I do about that?

What happens when you try?

Sounds like you have WIFI isolation or maybe using a guest network.

What is the IP of the PC?
