netzgauner 0
Luke 37289
Hi there, in order to use https, you need to setup an SSL certificate in Emby Server network settings, or setup a reverse proxy. Have you done that?
netzgauner 0
Hi thanks for the answer. No. but I'm also more concerned with the connection problem with emby connect.
Solution Luke 37289 Posted December 15, 2020 Solution Share Posted December 15, 2020 If you don't have https setup on your emby server, then you need to use the http version at http://app.emby.media
netzgauner 0
I see. ok then it's clear. but an unsecured transmission is out of the question. Can the certificate be self-signed?

Can the certificate be self-signed? The login requests to our Emby Connect servers are still done over https either way. You can use a self-signed certificate, but you may need to override the browser to force it to accept. And then with Emby apps on other devices, you may see connection failures if the devices don't accept your certificate. On some platforms we can force it to accept your self-signed certificate, but on many others we can't. That ends up leaving you with the choice of either using a trusted certificate, or not using one at all.
