psykix 97
I currently have photos scattered on my NAS, on removable drives, on iCloud, on my phone and on some SD cards. Some are probably duplicates, and also since I have gone through a stack of cameras they prob have duplicate filenames but will be different photos. Anyone got a recommendation of how I can consolidate it all onto my NAS in folders which make sense? I noticed a load of the files have incorrect date/time stamps, but presumably the exif data will be correct. I want to ultimately use MBS to view the photo library so don't want the photos in proprietary libraries etc.. I'm using a Mac, and I have Aperture 3, iPhoto and have access to Lightroom if any of that would help? Cheers!
CBers 6771
For my photos, I have them in year/month/event. For example: X:\Photos\2014\05. May\Holiday X:\Photos\2013\12. December\Christmas Etc. Just a suggestion on how I do it. . Edited August 1, 2014 by CBers
psykix 97
For my photos, I have them in year/month/event. For example: X:\Photos\2014\05. May\Holiday X:\Photos\2013\12. December\Christmas Etc. Just a suggestion on how I do it. . Yeah, it's not so much the folder structure, but the dealing with the possible duplicates and messed up date/time stamps. From what I can see Aperture and iPhoto use proprietary libraries, but maybe that is just a database and it leaves the photos alone? I'll have to do some more reading! CBers 6771
Duplicates you have to sort out, but the date/time can be amended by using an exif data editor. I use Romain Peter's Attributes Changer.
Deafpapa 4
For your duplicates give Anti-Twin a try: http://www.anti-twin.com/ Freeware that has not been updated in years but still does the job.
psykix 97
I ended up using Lightroom. That filtered out duplicates and allowed me to sort in Year/Date folders. Cheers!
