You could save a message, select the user accounts you wanted the message to appear on, and when they logged into their account the message would display as a modal dialog with a "Got it" button. Perhaps there is a way to get messages working they way you'd like. What were you thinking you'd like to see happen? I'll add the ability to keep messages for new items until each user views them as well. I just want to make sure I have a good understanding of what kind of messaging system you'd like to see.
