The Governor 1
I've got a few films which are split into two files, for example Lord of the Rings which I've ripped off the DVD is split over two discs. In XBMC as long as they're named "Moviename-Part1" and "moviename-Part2" when playing it just picks up the second part of the file at then end of part one and plays seamlessly. I was watching a film done in the same way on MB3 but at the end of the first file it just stopped? Is this expected behaviour in the latest version? I'm on Version 3.0.5309.26857. Anohter thing I've noticed on a separate note is that I get regular cache file cleanup failed errors, "Access to the path 'E:\System Volume Information' is denied", even though I have no security set on that drive... any thoughts? ebr 14929
What app is "on MB3"? MBC will play the parts consecutively (as long as the server has recognized them). I'm not sure if the other apps have implemented seamless playback yet.
thefirstofthe300 291
I too am wondering about this. I have had this same problem with XBMBC3 and just haven't gotten around to reporting this problem. I also noticed that the web client doesn't seem to auto-start the next disc either.
The Governor 1
Sorry about my shorthand, I meant Mediabrowser3 Server I'm not sure what MBC is... obviously I haven't got the lingo down yet
DigiTM 60
Sorry about my shorthand, I meant Mediabrowser3 Server I'm not sure what MBC is... obviously I haven't got the lingo down yet All cool. These are some of the "lingo" terms you might see flying around the boards. Hope this helps a bit. MBS = MediaBrowser Server MBC = MediaBrowser Classic (the client app that runs in Windows Media Center) MBT = MediaBrowser Theatre (the standalone client app) And some lingo algreba, MBS+MBC/MBT=AWESOME

DigiTM 60
i just join these into one using mkvtoolsnix That's the easiest. Using MKVMerge GUI makes it nice and easy.
The Governor 1
Although the easiest easiest method is rename the files "part 1, Part 2" and the player plays them seamlessly...
ebr 14929
The web app does not play them together but the second part is right there on the detail page so you can start it. I think MBC is the only app that has implemented seamless playback of multi-part items.
The Governor 1
Would you expect the app that is delivered on the Sky Now box to also allow me to select the second part? I'll have to look again as I;'m sure I couldn't see it through that interface...
ebr 14929
There are at least three possible apps on that box. Which one do you have and is it up to date?
The Governor 1
I didn't know that, the one I got installed is by following the instruction on the link below, I thought there was only one app for the Sky Now box? http://mediabrowser.tv/community/index.php?/topic/689-how-to-install-media-browser-on-now-tv/
ebr 14929
Okay, please ask about it in this thread: Media Browser for Roku Beta Channel
The Governor 1
Thanks ebr - I've reported it there. I'm kind of giving up a bit on Mediabrowser I'm just finding it a bit flaky, which is a shame because I can see loads of work is going into it, but I get too many regular issues, playing videos with subtitles, playing videos works sometimes then doesn't for no apparent reason. I can't play files though my web browser, I just get "There was an error playing the video" - which is sort of fine because I don't watch my media sat on my PC, but does indicate a problem somewhere. All of my media plays fine on other devices, WDTV LIve, AC Ryan PlayOn Mini and my OpenElec XBMC PC, so it seems to be something to do with the Mediabrowser server/client. It's a shame because it was a really neat solution for me as I have Now TV boxes all over the house.... thefirstofthe300 291
Although the easiest easiest method is rename the files "part 1, Part 2" and the player plays them seamlessly... Here, here...This would be the best option, IMO. However, in the meantime I did take the advice of @@DigiTM and use MKVMerge. That fixes the problem but is a bit of a pain to get the two files merged. The web app does not play them together but the second part is right there on the detail page so you can start it. I think MBC is the only app that has implemented seamless playback of multi-part items. I can understand why the web client isn't high on the priority list (who would want to watch on the web client unless they are at work or on the road). I would however, think that it would be something that XBMB3C should at least implement for all the HTPCs out there that currently use the MBS as the backend. Should I open a new thread over there? ebr 14929
You should ask but, honestly, multi-part items haven't been a big priority because they aren't encountered all that much anymore. It is very easy to merge the two files.
