Done, by default there are currently no followers.  So you should only get the notification of the split.

Unless @Abobader knows of a fix this is the only drawback of splitting posts to new topics.  The posters know they were moved but will not get further notifications unless they specifically follow the new topic.

Strange behavior: For this split, I received a PM about the split, but not via e-mail.

Also, in this topic, I see a moderation menu - but not in the others:

I think this will depend on what privileges you have been given and where within the forum sections.  But Abo would have all this info.

To me that is the desired behavior but I very very rarely follow any topic.
