SunnyZ 0
Hi everyone. I've setup my Emby server, everything working beaut. It's got remote access all working fine. However when I'm at the missus house, she doesn't have a smart TV, no browser to access via TV my Emby site like I can at my mates house. So I try to send the stream to her chromecast that's connected to her TV. But it cant pick it up, only detects my local TV's. I can send youtube videos to her chromecast, just not Emby vids. Seems like Emby can only cast videos to local devices on my home network, not stream videos via a remotely connected device to remote TV on the same network as the remote device. Any hints or tips on how to do this? Or is this just not feasible with Emby? Thanks. Edited July 20, 2020 by SunnyZ
Painkiller8818 203
DLNA or lets say UPNP is local and isn't working over the Internet. This is why people need to Stream things from your server. This is like discovering printers in YOUR Network. The only way is to play the movie on your phone in the other persons WIFI, and then stream it to the chromecast, but not sure if it is a Problem with DRM. You better install Emby on the Chromecast or buy a Fire TV for this person. Edited July 20, 2020 by Painkiller8818
Luke 37096
Chromecast is supported on a remote network. The Chromecast dongle and the device you're casting from just need to be on the same local network when you try to do this.
Carlo 4330
Chromecast casting and DLNA work differently as they have different protocols and functionality.
