fogpuppy 1
Does anyone know a way to specify a "default" use for login for the web app. Ideally I'd like any person connecting to the web interface to use a the same default user (i.e. "guest".). It would be nice if I could also do this for other apps like the Emby app or Roku, etc.
Luke 37099
Hi, there isn't, no, but it will remember your login.
fogpuppy 1
Yes that good enough for most cases.. But I have quite a few real "novice" users and if I could cut down the even one step of presenting the user to them it would streamline stuff a bit. Basically if there is only one "visible" user defined and that user has no password, just go straight in. If there were more than one visible user I can see asking which one ... and then remembering. I say "visible" because I do have an admin user defined but hidden. It's not a big deal but it would simply usage in the most basic of cases. fogpuppy 1
Hey Luke, One follow on Question. Because my system has a nginx server acting as a proxy in front of Emby I have the option of the nginx page opening Emby via a URL other than the default http://<eembyserver>>:8096 which take me to the login page. If I could execute a URL that is the equivalent of the click on my default user ... then I could bypass this in my proxy. is there some URL that I could call that was essentially telling Emby "open and login as user "guest" in one shot? Something like http://<<embyserver>>:8096/login?user=guest or something similar ....
Luke 37099
Officially no, but I think some users have figured out hacks along these lines. I'm not positive though.

akex0lawliet 2
i'd love to see this feature in the upcoming update, there is a another point to be carefull with : 1 ) the link adress like (see below) should be accessable in the first attempt (1click), avery new client should be automaticly log into default and until logout, never auto-logout 2 ) maybe put a buton some where to reset to "default user", if/when a noobie logout and broke the thing or if want can't do it now or never please resolve the redirection problem after login-in, this bug force the client to connect first, only then click to access link (see below) to see the content. but if you use one of the link below without already being login the site redirect the client on the home page and not the adress page. https://!!!!!!!!!!/web/index.html#!/item?id=12171&serverId=7461c4d6342b499ba30e1221bd5364ca https://!!!!!!!!!!/web/index.html#!/list.html?parentId=501d8112ae5cabc7fab75ea84491b33e&serverId=00e8a65712a741a3bec5beaccc67b6a4
