Okeur75 6
Hello guys, I have some trouble with transcoding in Emby since a few days.. Issue : Movies that require transcoding take ages to be displayed on smartphone and chromecast. Affected : All Chromecast and smartphone. Users confirm it takes time to start a movie on these devices but it starts immediately on the Web. Version : 4.4.2.0 (also tried to downgrade to 4.3.1.0 but no change) Transcoding : Nvidia GTX 1050 On the smartphone : Logs attached StreamTranscode failed twice with code 1 error and the movie takes 133 seconds to start On the ChromeCast, controlled by the smartphone: Logs attached StreamTranscode failed once and the movie takes 90 seconds to start The Dashboard show the movie as "Direct Playing" for few seconds (15-20), then it goes to 0 and starts again as "Direct playing", then it disappears and eventually it shows the transcoding and the movie starts. On Firefox: Logs attached Movie starts almost immediately A pic to summarize what I see on the dashboard: Cheers, On-ChromeCast.log On-Firefox.log On-Smartphone.log

Luke 37113
In all of these cases you're burning in subtitles. Does this only happen when that is the case?
Okeur75 6
Hmm nice catch yes. If I disabled the subtitles it starts immediately.

Okeur75 6
Hello, Problem solved, I had an hardware failure on one of my HDD and the raid was in degraded state trying to reconstruct itself indefinitely by adding the faulty drive again and again. So the HDDs were highly used, thus creating the issue. Thanks,
