Shamshiel 0
Since my Apple TV updated the emby app to the newest version (version from 2020-05-20) all of my ASS subtitles (they contain chinese/japanese characters) don't work properly anymore. I'm a huge fan of emby but this was a very important feature to me and without these subtitles the app is almost useless to me... My current workaround is to use my iPad Pro via HDMI on my TV but I would prefer to use my Apple TV app again. Is it possible to get the subtitles to work again? They worked fine until the last update Edited May 22, 2020 by Shamshiel
corey 312
Hi @@Shamshiel -- With this new update we changed the default player back to the Apple Native player. You can switch back to the MPV-based player by going to Settings -> Playback Settings -> Enable MPV. The Apple Native player is very limited in the types of subtitles it supports. Hey @@corey, thank you for the quick answer. I changed back to the MPV based player and everything works as before. Will this always be an option in the future? Was the MPV player before this version the default one?
corey 312
Yes it was previously the default and we added the Apple player back this release for those folks that wanted HDR and frame rate matching capabilities if they have content supported by Apple.
