byusinger84 1
I'm having a hard time trying to narrow down the problem directly, but I'm pretty sure now there is something going on with Emby itself with how it handles file streams from the DVR. I am able to stream LiveTV for only a moment before choppy audio/video and heavy ghosting appear. I am using a Ceton card with ServerWMC. I have also tried to use the Ceton Proxy software that someone posted on here the other day and developed (this is to make it appear to Emby as if it's a HomeRun Prime device). Both have the same problem. I am able to stream directly over VLC if I manually type in the network URL for the Ceton Proxy software. It works flawlessly with no problems of any kind. This is what has led me to conclude that Emby is having some issues of some kind. Direct streaming or forcing a transcode by lowering the quality doesn't fix it. Clients I've Tried: nVidia Shield 2017 Dell XPS 15 Core i7 32 GB RAM GTX 1050 (Emby for Chrome) Emby Server: Server 2019 Standard 16 GB of RAM GTX 1050 SSDs for OS WMC Server: Windows 7 x64 16 GB RAM Core i7 6700K SSD for OS/7200 RPM WD Black 5 TB for recordings Screen captures attached as well as the logs. embyserver.txt ffmpeg-directstream-0c8f0890-85f5-4212-a5f8-9585c93b74f9_1.txt ffmpeg-directstream-ebf55201-452f-4c2b-8fe7-5d7e50c9ba37_1.txt ffmpeg-directstream-ed61ce24-9cc1-4584-9089-1ff873c48e09_1.txt ffmpeg-remux-95a38210-4e14-413a-a16d-865c047dc41e_1.txt ffmpeg-remux-952f4d17-2eb8-409a-a331-ae870c00e353_1.txt ffmpeg-remux-ecb2085e-d421-442a-a604-01f6b5bb837e_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-82cd1749-1c54-431c-a75b-894a9ce0db71_1.txt Edited February 29, 2020 by byusinger84

byusinger84 1
Reporting back: So turns out there were several things going on. First off, the developer of Ceton Proxy was excellent to work with and he resolved a few issues that fixed 90% of the problems. In the process, however, we discovered another issue that I still can't find the cause of but I am pretty sure it's an issue with Windows 7 itself. There is something in Windows 7 that causes either certain ports/protocols/traffic to become buffered. For example, I am able to transfer files over SMB on my local network at full speed (gigabit), however if I try to stream something from Ceton Proxy (same goes for ServerWMC), there is a definite slowdown. Ceton Proxy has a built in speedtest and for some reason its traffic is slowed by 60-70%. However, if I install IIS and send a file via HTTP, I get full speeds. This is extremely weird and yes, I have seen the registry settings for the non-media throttling, however, those do not work. I've done everything I can including a full wipe of the OS and with just Windows 7, drivers, and the Ceton Proxy software, the speeds are the same. What confirms this even further is if I put my Ceton card in bridge mode (this is so you can share the tuners with other WMC PCs) and run Ceton Proxy on another computer running Windows 10, I am able to get full speeds and ZERO problems. The issue is clearly with something on Windows 7 so...I'm not sure what to do anymore. If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them but for now, I am running Ceton Proxy on another workstation and that is my band-aid fix.
Luke 37118
And do you really want to stay on windows 7?
byusinger84 1
I do, for now. Emby Live TV doesn't quite give me everything I want for myself at home, but my other Emby users now have the option to watch Live TV as I've dedicated 4 tuners to myself and 6 to Emby. And WMC with ModernMediaUI+ makes it excellent.
matsonjr 4
Interesting read. Did you ever get any further in figuring out what was going on? I seem to be having similar troubles.
