Playing next pop-up

Hi, just a little ascertainment, when the next episode pop-up appear, you have the choice to "start now" and "stop".

When you click on "Stop", for me, it should be stop at the end of the episode, but it's stop it directly, and we lost the last 30s of the episode, it's possible to made it stop at the end of the episode?

Same thing for the "play next", it's start the next episode directly, but, in this case, I don't know what is the best, start directly or start at the end of the episode... Maybe like it' now for this button.

Thanks!

I think it's counter-intuitive, if I want to "stop now" the video, I'm just going to press stop, but the "stop" button of the pop-up should simply "cancel" for this episode the autoplay function . It seems to me that this is how it works on streaming platforms ... I do not want to cancel this function, it is very practical, but if I want to be able to finish an episode before closing the TV, the "stop" button should be there precisely for that in my opinion...

I think an argument can be made either way and it also depends on the content.  With 99% of my content, that popup doesn't happen until we are into the credits.  But, I can see your point.  I don't want to have more than two buttons there though and "Start Now" is definitely correct (IMO).

I could be talked into making the other one "Stop at this Episode" but we'd need to make that decision system-wide (and, maybe, come up with less words that convey that...).

sure why think about yourself or let the user anything decide if you can copycat

Modeling functions after widely-accepted paradigms is just smart for both us and users.

That being said, I haven't re-checked this with Netflix in a while - perhaps they've changed what they are doing.

My example was from the streaming application that I use from the cable TV company and the application is displayed as you will find in the attached image.

After that, it's up to you, but I find the concept simple and refined, and that would avoid the overlapping of the longer titles on the long buttons, especially in French with the button "Commencer maintenant" and "Arreter" on the Android app.

Thank you for taking the trouble to consider the whole thing, I understand that this change could have more repercussions than I thought.

So, if you click the "x" there, then the panel dismisses, the episode finishes and playback stops?

Exactly!

And the play button start immediately the video.

It's text less, but it's made perfectly the job in my opinion, and look nicer that a big button with text...

In this case, the panel show is countdown until the end, by removing the text in the buttons, it would be possible to slightly thin the panel so that it is the least inconvenient possible, but I do not think that it would be really a problem either

But, it's true that on the streaming app, the countdown appear less longer that the emby one...
