GameBrowser Woes

So, I've never been able to successfully *run* games from MBT since I've been using it.  I decided last night to give it another whirl to see if my luck would change - here's the issue I'm encountering.... I can see the games, they show up perfectly, all of that is there.  The problem is (and this is what I ran into before), I absolutely cannot get an option to play the games when I go to them (no "play" button).  I have always assumed it had something to with how the external players were setup (incorrect switch?) within MBT, but this is happening for all console types I've thrown at it and I've tried every combination of the auto-populating ones, manual ones (with or without the quotes), to no avail.

For example:

Does anyone have an ideas as to what would cause this?  I feel I have this configured correctly, but something still has to be amiss.

Thanks!

The screenshot looks like it's set up properly. What version of MBT are you running.

Currently 5275, but it's been this way with every release I've tried.  For giggles, I even tried setting up MBT on two different client PCs I have to see if I could duplicate it...Surely enough, they displayed the same way.

Just through process of reduction and the fact it's just the launching portion that doesn't seem to be functioning, would I be correct in assuming it's nothing with GB, but something between MBT and the emulators?

As far as MBT is concerned... The decision was made, without me, to bake game launching directly into MBT. Which would have been awesome if fully realized. Gamebrowser server is needed to identify games, but MBT would handle launching on it's own. Games have since been pushed to the bottom of the priority list in MBT. There's a lot of really big changes going on in MBT which are cool, but I don't think any of the devs working on it give a shit if game support ever works properly.

Gotcha.  It's not really a big concern of mine, I just figured since I already had a huge collection to try and implement, I would.  I never had any issues with launching within WMC, but since I've decided to scrap and pull away from WMC, MBT would be the next logical substitute.  :)

I just tested a game in my collection in MBT. I'm able to launch a game, so I'm not sure what's hindering your setup.

An update to the issue I was having before.  I don't think this has anything to do with MBT at all.  I tried reinstalling MBC to see if I would have any issues there (where it worked before).  To my surprise, it doesn't work there, either.  I pulled the log:

What does this mean, exactly?  It appears that all of the games have a missing line in an XML somewhere, which is strange because when I first tried fixing this, nothing had changed from before when it was working.  Now, I deleted everything and started from scratch and apparently that doesn't fix the issue.

Thanks again.

I just installed Media Browser Theater (v 3.0.5302.41569) on a freshly setup new client computer. Clean install of Windows 8.1 then installed Media Browser Theater. MBT connects to server no problem. Shows Movies, TV, Games -- everything that is available on my other clients. I can play the video files without a problem, however I cannot play the Games. I installed all the necessary emulators on the client computer and set them up in External Players in the MBT System Settings. But there is no play button on the games. The games play on my other clients using Media Browser Classic and Game Browser Classic just fine.

I have another client computer that has both Media Browser Classic and Media Browser Theater Installed (v 3.0.5287.42414) that I was using to test out the functionality of Media Browser Theater since its release. After noticing the issue on the new client I decided to setup the emulators in the External Player settings on this existing machine. On this machine the games play fine in Media Browser Classic but I have the same issue of the missing play button in Media Browser Theater.

I have attached a screenshot of the External Player setup for the NES games (the others are done in the same manner).

I have this problem sporadically as well. Some games have play buttons, some games dont. They are all the same file format and work fine when launched from the emulator so I dont know what is going on.

Your screenshot seems to show '{ROM}' in the arguments line. This should be {PATH} in MBT. Not sure if this is your problem but give it a go.

I am having the same problem with Media Browser Theater and Game Browser. I do not have any play buttons for the games. I have Media Browser Classic setup on the same machine and the games all have play buttons and work fine there. From this I would assume it has nothing to do with the server or with Game Browser, but with Media Browser Theater. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
