cncb 17
When watching an MKV created from a standard DVD (MPEG2, 480p), playback is fine for several minutes and then there is a subtle "smearing" effect. I have to stop playback and restart for it to recover. This only happens with DVDs. Anyone else experience this?
Guest asrequested
Probably something to do with deinterlacing.
cncb 17
That's kind of what it seems like, but there shouldn't be any with 480p source? Edited January 18, 2020 by cncb

ebr 14935
Hi. Exactly how is the item playing? ffmpeg log? https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/739-how-to-report-a-problem/
cncb 17
It is Direct Playing. Seems to happen in Plex as well so might be a Shield system issue. I will try Kodi to see if it is ExoPlayer-related.
ebr 14935
Are you sure it isn't actually a problem in the video itself?
cncb 17
I'm pretty sure because it happens at random times and seemingly in all MKVs from DVDs. If I stop and resume playback it is back to normal for several minutes until it usually happens again.
Guest asrequested
Can you share one of these videos?
cncb 17
Sorry, I'm not comfortable sharing a movie like this, but they are standard DVDs ripped with MakeMKV so no conversion/processing applied. It seems that Kodi does not have this playback issue so it could be related to ExoPlayer.
