blumamba 10
If not in right section I am sorry. I have been researching newer cost effective units vs a htpc (age old question I know) as I have htpc's and roku ultras. Its been a while since I tried emby on the roku since my first attempt which did not pass through the dts x or atmos I stayed with my htpc. Since I discovered in their last update preparing for Disney+ and atmos for netflix the roku passed them. I do not believe however they are full atmos as the receiver states its an atmos derivitave. So with all the updates to this point which of the units will pass hdr and hd sound and which has the best upscaling as compared to a htpc. I have read multiple opinions on this with outdated info for the most part. So does emby support pass through on those devices or is it a device limitation? Will it ever pass through hd audio, upscale, and hdr info? Will any of those devices? My roku will not pass through hd audio or use the subs encoded in the mkv container (hevc). Limitation of device or emby? Thanks for input

Thanks for input Nvidia Shield supports audio passthrough and Emby supports it: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/shield/specs/ I can't help with Roku because they are not available in Spain. blumamba 10
So you dont have any issue with hdr pass through or hd sound? thanks for input
vdatanet 1549
So you dont have any issue with hdr pass through or hd sound? thanks for input Not issues at all. I just miss the HDR to SDR tone mapping, but this is not Emby related. Infuse and Plex for Apple TV can tone map HDR to SDR because they use MPV player and the GPU of Apple TV is capable enough. blumamba 10
so the hdr pass through is a hardware issue or a player issue?
vdatanet 1549
so the hdr pass through is a hardware issue or a player issue? I don't understand what you mean by HDR passthrough. Do you mean the HDR passthrough of an AV receiver? Some older AV receivers do not support HDR passthrough and the HDR is lost when the signal is forwarded to the TV. blumamba 10
Yes that is what I mean by pass through...does it pass the HDR meta data through to AVR or TV. Any other input would be great. Edited November 25, 2019 by blumamba
