stephenthompson 0
Hello all, this is my 1st post here! Can anyone tell me how to stop Emby from creating tons of .bif files in my media movie folder? I may have turned it on by accident. I am running Emby on my Mac Pro (black cylinder) and running Mac OS Mojave. Thanks so much in advance! Stephen
Luke 37113
Hi, this is only happening because you turned on thumbnail generation and you also enabled the thumbnails to be saved in your media folders. What were your expecting that the option would do?
stephenthompson 0
Thanks Luke for the fast reply! Can you direct me to where I can disable this feature?
Luke 37113
It would be in The same place you turned it on, in the settings for each emby library.
stephenthompson 0
@ Hmmm, Ok, it is doing it for my main Library, but I cannot see where to disable this.
Guest asrequested
You have to look in your library configuration, from the dashboard. Scroll down to thumbnail images. After you disable it, run a library scan.
stephenthompson 0
Sorry for my ignorance, I do not see thumbnail images in the Libraries tab.
Luke 37113
Click on a library in Emby library setup and then you'll see settings for that library.

Luke 37113
What could we have done to make this easier to locate? Why did you originally turn this on?
stephenthompson 0
I think there are many sub categories and various locations for setting, so maybe a central control area similar to Plex?
Luke 37113
What do you mean by central control area?
stephenthompson 0
It seems that there are more areas than Plex to make setting changes, but I will learn where everything is.\ I like Emby more than Plex though!
Luke 37113
What exactly do you mean by more areas?
Luke 37113
Ok yes I see what you highlighted in your screen. Yes I'm sure that can be reduced. Thanks for the feedback.

Perhaps being a little less of an ass-hat in your initial response would be an awesome start. I had the same question. I can assure you I didn't (knowingly) turn the feature on. Had to scroll fairly down the thread before someone else provided a succint, helpful answer.
