ANIS03 0
Hello, I have a question, please. I plan to buy a mini PC or desktop PC and I would like to know if emby uses transcoding with the graphics card or processor? Because I found a lot of PCs with i5-4590 processors but equipped with an Intel HD Graphics 4400 chipset... Thank you for your answer
vdatanet 1549
You need a premiere account to use hardware acceleration. https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Hardware-Acceleration-Overview

vdatanet 1549
I repeat my question for you to understand, I want to know if emby use the graphics card or processor to do the transcoding Yes, If you have a premiere subscription Emby can use the graphics card to transcode. That’s hardware acceleration. If you want, you can disable it and use the processor.

ANIS03 0
If I understand If I use hardware acceleration emby will use my graphics card And if I disable the emby option will use my processor So my second question comes now, the i5-4590 will be enough to do the transcoding of the hevc? Currently I have an intel pentium p6200 and the hevc is not supported
vdatanet 1549
Yes, you are right. For the second question, I think i5-4590 doesn't support hardware transconding for hevc, it supports software transcoding, but I don't know if it's enough for your needs, depending on your media type. Jdiesel 1114
The Intel® HD Graphics 4600 won't support hvec either, you will have to go with at least a Intel Skylake or newer for that. The i3-7100 and i3-7300 make for a pretty nice setup with HWA enabled. I think there are a few folks around hear using similar CPUs with no issues. Alternatively you could toss a Nvidia GTX 1050 into just about any machine and get hvec HWA support. Edited September 15, 2019 by Jdiesel
ANIS03 0
How do I know if a processor can support hevc transcoding? A simple Google search with the name of the processor? Or do you have a site to give me
