osmosy 0
Hi, Yesterday, everything was working. Today, we can't access Emby at all. So I look on my Mac and go to Emby > Configure Emby, and it's asking for a new username and password: setting up a new account. So it looks like Emby has lost all of its preferences and I need to set everything up from scratch. Any ideas of what happened? Was there a server update overnight? Luke 37067
Hi, no, there wasn't an update. Emby Server for MacOS doesn't have automatic updates. Is it possible the server's data folder was deleted somehow? Was there a MacOS update?
osmosy 0
Hi. When you say data folder, do you mean the folder containing all the video files? If so, then no, it’s all still there. Does Emby have a system or User preferences file I could replace from backup?
Luke 37067
No i mean the server's program data folder with the database files, etc. The server log will contain the path to this right near the beginning.

Ok, found the log file and it has filepaths that are actually one of my backups. This would explain things. However, what file do I change to make Emby point back to my main drive? Luke 37067
The top level program data folder cannot be changed, however there are settings inside emby server that allow some of the sub-paths to be changed, such as cache, metadata, transcoding temp, etc.

Luke 37067
Can you not just restore the files? Do you know what happened to them? What path is listed for you as the program data path?
osmosy 0
Can you not just restore the files? Do you know what happened to them? What path is listed for you as the program data path? Tried from backup into ~/emby-server no joy. Unhid files in ~/ (by pressing cmd-shift-.). In .config there's an emby-server folder, which, according to my backup, wasn't there a few days ago. If I delete the folder from .config and start embyserver again, it's generating a new emby-server folder inside .config So there's got to be a link somewhere in the embyserver application that needs updating to look for ~/emby-server instead of ~/.config/emby-server
osmosy 0
Looks like I’m going to have to uninstall and start again. There are a few of us that have had this issue.
Luke 37067
Did you originally install the server a long time ago?
osmosy 0
About three weeks ago. I’ve had to reinstall and start from scratch. Hopefully that won’t happen again.
