Emby Server useless since upgrade

Since the most recent upgrade I've been mostly unable to use the software at all. Library scans are unable to be completed, new libraries aren't recognized, and most of the time if any video plays at all, it's a series of previews & not the actual selected content. Bottom line is that I need to downgrade immediately. Can anyone point me to an archive of old Emby Server versions that might allow me to do this?

Thank you.

First one is because you enabled Cinema mode. Why did you turn that on if you didn't want it?

Tried to install previous version but it wouldn't open, so I went back to the latest version.

When I try to play a TV show there's just a blank, black screen even though the timer at the bottom seems to indicate that the video is playing. When I try to play a movie, a preview shows.

This is why you can't play anything. The server is being denied access to your media folders:

	System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException: System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException: Could not find a part of the path '/Volumes/My Passport/Movies/TV Shows/King of the Hill/Season 9/king.of.the.hill.s09e14.dvdrip.x264-ositv.mkv'.

Thanks for calling attention to that.. I see that my primary media drive is no longer mounted, so I'm repairing the permissions with Disk Utility (again). I think it is possible all of the failed attempts to re-scan the library have mucked up the external drive somehow. I made sure all folders have read/write permissions across the board, but the library is still stuck in mid-scan and now no thumbnails appear in any of my libraries. The home screen appears normal, but anywhere I go inside there gets me a blank black screen. Is there any way to trash a preference file or force a database rebuild that has a chance at completing?

Chances are it's not stuck but just taking a long time. I would just give it time and allow it to finish.

What about my Cinema mode question?

It wasn't that I didn't want it.. the previews were loading instead of the actual content, not just before it. At the moment I'm unable to access any content at all. When I restart the server, it never actually finishes.

I suspect there still might be broken links to the media files & the root of the problem is in the inability to complete a library scan no matter how long I let it sit for. There's also something screwy going on in my activity monitor (see below). I've reinstalled the application more times than I can count. I'm worried there is also a connection to High Sierra & that there might be a point (if it's not here now) where everything prior to Mojave won't work (like many other apps)...at which time I'd really have no options because my media server is an older Mac Mini that can't run Mojave. I can't even express how disappointing this is! I'd just started to get really used to Emby as the central hub for all of my media files & finally had some success sharing family photos with relatives across the country. At this point I don't even care if I lose all of my settings/metadata even though that'd be a lot of work lost...Is there a preference file I can trash to force some kind of reset? I just want to get back to a place where my files load. Any other ideas appreciated.

Can you attach the server log? thanks.

There's no evidence of it being stuck in this log. I think you just need to be patient and allow it to finish. The log has scanning activity the whole time which means that it's still going.

I removed a bunch of plugins, starting with the ones that never worked anyway (TuneIn), along with a few of the more recent libraries that I'd added & was unable to finish scanning. Then I refreshed all of the metadata & initiated new library scans for each library individually. That seemed to have done the trick. It took a while, but my content started showing back up again.

I don't think I'm out of the woods completely just yet - my 'Collections' are now all duplicated, and some libraries remain incomplete - for example, I have a 'music' library that's showing back up again, but with only about 40% of the content showing up. I may just need to rescan those, but the important thing is that my video content & photos are showing up again. It sucks that I lost many of the updates I'd made in terms of metadata/images, but I think I'll stay away from any non-essential plugins/updates to avoid a mess like this in the future.

Thanks again for all of your help.

Again please run a full library scan and just let it finish, rather than the separate scans for each library.

I'm afraid I've done so a few times now...still can't *technically add any new libraries or access most of that music library. I tried to add 'music2' pointing to the same folder so maybe it'd rebuild it from scratch, but while it shows up in the 'Library' section of my admin panel, and the MetaData mgr, it doesn't actually show up in the media player mode.

Adding the same path to multiple libraries isn't fully supported.
