tman 47
Like many contemplating moving from WMC to MBT, Live TV is a big thing, and my WMC HTPC is in the main living room, and that's the device with the tuners installed. My MBS is in another room, nowhere near any TV points. So, are there any plans to allow Live TV from within MBT as an option? MBS can still manage all the media, but Live TV (for many I guess) will remain on the HTPC. Be nice to know one way or the other, but it will be a big decider in finally moving off WMC or not.

tman 47
Thanks Luke, that's great to know. I guess all the devs have their hands full at the moment, but to know it's on the cards for some point is excellent.
ge2301 4
How is the status of LiveTV implementation in MBT? Is there any rough schedule? This is the most important missing feature, that makes me not use it at the moment. Thanks!
Rogerr 4
For simplicity and ease of use for Live TV, none of the competition comes close to the Microsoft solution yet. As soon as someone can match WMC on that, it would make that program the one to have.

snazy2000 342
MBT is having a massive overhaul atm. So I wouldn't expect anything like that for little while Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk

I hope by Luke saying that Live TV is in the works, that this means that native TV recording and CableCARD (InifiniTV/HDHomerun Prime) will be supported. If so, this will definitely be the holy-grail HTPC software suite in this post-WMC era. Actually, It already kind of amazes me that MediaBrowser can support systems as powerful as madVR-capable machines all the way down to little smartphones. Sweet. Deathsquirrel 741
i hope you guys implemet that it works directly without the need to be streamed via the server I'm not on the dev team so I don't have any insight in this, but don't hold your breath. It seems unlikely they'd build something that completely ignores the whole architecture of this product line for one client app. MB3 is a client/server app and I wouldn't bet on that changing in this version. ge2301 4
I always read "live-TV is coming". Could you give a little bit more concrete information? Will it use ServerWMC as interface? How is the development status? What is roughly the planned introduction time? Of course it's nice to be surprised when it's ready ... but meanwhile so much time passed, that I will uninstall MBT instead of waiting further. There will be a new version of MediaPortal 2 end of August with a nice LiveTV implementation (And they give frequent updates about the development status, so you know what you are waiting for)

For the moment the MediaBrowser server can use ServerWMC & NextPvr
dotnetzero 5
As a developer I am amazed at the amount of work you've guys have knocked out. I'm in the same boat as alot of the previous users... have 4 htpcs in the house running mc7 with media browser and live TV (infinitv). When I saw the new client-server solution I couldn't wait. I'm sure a number of people run all of their media from a central server in the house in some form or fashion, so it seemed like a natural fit. Live TV is the one feature preventing me from switching all the pcs from wmc to mbt. Then I saw the web client, the various mobile clients, the ability to handle photos, games, music etc. Like someone else had said, you've guys put together the holy grail of media applications (a suite of applications, really).Congrats. I will eagerly, patiently wait for live TV integration in MBT.
djlax152 0
Yea I can't wait for this feature!! I use WMC with MB classic for now only because the media center has the live T.V. but i have tried MBT and I really like it! just wanted to comment to you guys on some of the stuff i think you guys are doing really well with MBT. I love how smooth and lightweight the interface runs, One thing i noticed with WMC is that it seems to be a heavy application and playing live T.V. and navigating around the menus will lag if your trying to use a low power ITX PC. This happens to me all the time and my tuners all do hardware encoding. The other thing i love is that your keeping it simple, i really hate when developers try to over-complicate things that my mom and dad are supposed to be able to figure out how to use or at least drive\navigate. Kudos to you guys for that! I've tried other PVRs before and the main thing that always disappoints me is how frustrating it is to get the guide working with all your channels. That's one thing i actually like about WMC its very easy to get the guide working properly. If you guys could get that right then MAN this is going to be an amazing application!! anyways keep up the fantastic work, I've donated before and will be again shortly! let us know as soon as we can try it!! Thanks!!! Edited November 8, 2014 by djlax152

mpz 0
As it appears while reading through the thread, that I am not the only one anticipating Live TV functions in MBT. Can't wait. Love the interface with MBT. Any news on the progress? Many thanks and keep up the great work.
