JXL2112 7
Will any Roku (current: 4630x) play 24-bit audio without transcoding with Emby ? My audio setup supports 24/192khz and I'm pretty sure Emby supports 24-bit but going through the Roku is unknown?
Luke 37068
Hi, it depends. Does your Roku device support this?
JXL2112 7
I have a Roku 4630x as stated above. I cannot find any information about 24-bit audio support.
speechles 1919
I have a Roku 4630x as stated above. I cannot find any information about 24-bit audio support. Are these FLAC? Right now we have an issue with FLAC direct play on Roku and have since the inception of scene graph. This is why Roku Media Player is still using the old framework and not updated to scene graph. The Roku scene graph audio player was not capable of direct playing FLAC/OPUS/VORBIS last time I checked this on firmware 8.x. I will have time today to check if any of this has changed with firmware 9.x. I know you can no longer play any audio samples lower than 44Khz. The 16/22 Khz stuff plays horrible with clicks/pops/artifacts in 9.x and played fine in 8.x so this means things in the audio player changed. 24bit@44/48/96/192Khz plays just fine in the SDKA old audio player. If we can get FLAC to direct play with scene graph the answer is YES 24-bit FLAC audio will be included. I will follow up on this post later tonight when I have time to investigate this. Stay tuned. skidmarks 188
@@speechles So this is why i cant do FLAC! Good to know... People are gonna kill me when i say i've been down converting all my FLAC to 320. Then deleting most of my FLAC files.
speechles 1919
@@speechles So this is why i cant do FLAC! Good to know... People are gonna kill me when i say i've been down converting all my FLAC to 320. Then deleting most of my FLAC files. My tests unfortunately say FLAC/OPUS/VORBIS is still not possible with the Roku scene graph music player. They fail with the message "malformed data". This message tells the app it could not interpret the filetype. Normally it says "format detected" then it will play it. Instead errors on "malformed data" still which is unfortunate. So right now we cannot unlock the FLAC/OPUS/VORVIS extensions to direct play in the audio player. These have support in the video player only. Nor can you play FLAC/OPUS/VORBIS in MKA yet. MKA on top would add better compression and smaller filesize. This was supported in the old audio player. This new one has subtle differences. Same with the new video player it has problems the old one didn't have. Edited May 31, 2019 by speechles
