Limit the weight of downloaded images

Would it be possible to choose the maximum weight of downloaded posters and fanarts ?

Some weigh more than 1.5 mo and unnecessarily burden the database in the NAS and this is a problem when you have a large media library (I have 2200 films and 400 series) to send on media players with not much ram.

It would be interesting to be able to choose to limit the size of the posters and fanarts (to 250 or 300 ko for example) to gain speed and use of cache on media players such as Fire TV for example ; I think it would interest many users.

Thanks  ;)

Hi, yes I agree this is a good idea. But just to clear one thing up, this will not affect the cache on media players such as Fire TV. We already downsize images on the fly as needed, and our Fire TV app will already cache them.

Thanks !

Hi Luke and thanks for your answer  ;)

To be honest with you I do not use the Emby app on my Fire TV but Kodi with the EmbyCon extension. It's indeed a good idea to reduce the images on the fly when needed, but I think if they were stored already reduced (by choice of the user) in the database this could save a lot of space and unnecessary processes.

I use 6 Fire TV ; 3 are connected to the Kodi database (internally in each Fire TV) and 3 are connected to the Emby database stored in my 1815+ Synology.

With my 2200 films and my 400 series (offering 13211 episodes and therefore more than 15400 video files) my Kodi databases stored internally are getting too heavy for the storage capacity of on my Fire TVs and this for that reason that I decided to outsource my database on Emby.

However after several tests the display remains much faster on the Fire TV accessing their internal databases than on the Fire TV accessing the Emby database on my Synology. I think this latency is related to resizing images on the fly and that we would save a lot of time without this process if we could store posters and fanarts in a smaller weight. Always to be very honest with you, this is the only problem that hinders me to migrate completely and permanently on Emby.

Thanks again for the quality of your work and your responsiveness  ;)
