rckrchrdsn 0
I have a server that does nothing but Emby serving. On my main computer I had two shortcuts on Chrome, one for Dashboard and one for Webviewer. They were both working as intended until about 5 days ago. Now the webviewer shortcut times out until I use dashboard. Dashboard now wants me to sign-in all the time. When I do, dashboard functions as expected. Then I drop the URL for Webviewer on the browser and Emby wants me to sign in again and puts me in dashboard. The same thing happens on Chrome or Opera. Emby Theater on my main computer continues to work as expected with no forced sign in. Emby viewer and dashboard shortcuts on Chrome work as before on the server machine. Roku app continues to work as before. Android app continues as before. Emby Server is at 4.1.1 Edited May 9, 2019 by rckrchrdsn

rckrchrdsn 0
Is your browser cache/history being cleared? Just checked, no. Cache is there and other sites are working fine. I know my firewall is not in play, having specifically allowed the reference and Emby Theater is working on the same machine.

rckrchrdsn 0
Nothing. Just times out. I have no problems using Splashtop (remote control software), moving files back and forth to that server via file explorer, or using Emby Theater. rckrchrdsn 0
As before, I get the sign in page. I pick my username and go to dashboard. I bring up a new tab and put in the web view url, get the sign in page, pick my username, and get dashboard. If I substitute the web viewer url over the top of the dashboard url, I repeat the last steps. So I get the dashboard but not the viewer. Again, Ember Theater is working just fine so I can get to the server.
Happy2Play 8282
If I unsderstand this correctly you want a "Admin" account to go to home.html instead of dashboard.html on Log in. With my tests the login.html always redirects a "Admin" to the dashboard during authentication no matter what the shortcut url is. Now if the user is authenticated then a shortcut will take you where ever the shortcut points to. Since you say everytime you open a tab you have to login, that means the browser no longer knows the "Remember Me" setting. You can click the Manual login button and login and ensure the "Remember Me" option is enabled, then open a new tab and your shortcut will work as expected. Everytime your browser cache is cleared the "Remember Me" option is reset. Only thing I don't understand is Now the webviewer shortcut times out until I use dashboard. Luke 37065
When signing in this is normal for admins. Why are you getting the sign in page in the first place? Did you uncheck the box to remember login?

Did you uncheck the box to remember login? No, I don't have to sign in on Emby Theater. It knows who I am and I don't have to provide any credentials just select my icon. I don't know why I am getting this now. I did not uncheck the box to remember login. This just happened one morning. I think it happened a few days after the last server update, so that doesn't seem to be an issue. Overall the whole emby experience is running great! My wife, a real tech phobe, is now sold on it. Luke 37065
Are you clearing browsing data? That could be another reason you are having to login again.
rckrchrdsn 0
Are you clearing browsing data? That could be another reason you are having to login again. No. pop a tab to emby viewer url, sign in, end up in dashboard, kill browser, bring browser back, tab emby viewer and I get the sign in again. I don't have any sign-in issues with other sites which should happen if my browser data is cleared.
Happy2Play 8282
From what you are describing, it is by design for a "Admin" user to land on the Dashboard when signing into Emby on the Web Client.

Yes, after my first sign in I had not see this in months. Further, I cannot get to the webviewer at all now, only into the dashboard.
