jdashn 0 Posted March 30, 2019 Share Posted March 30, 2019 I'm using a docker image (emby/embyserver, latest), using 4.0.2.0 - This has started the past day or two, i can see my chromecasts in emby on my mobile devices (android) and chromecast, but when i select the video (videos are eligible for direct play according to log) and hit play, nothing happens. The chromecast is displaying the emby logo and says it's ready to play media. If i disconnect from the chromecast, i can play the video either on the device (android) or in chrome browser. I am connecting to the https port, though i've not setup a cert or anything, this setup was working the past few weeks. If there is more information i can provide please let me know. I did try the Http port, and found the same situation was worse as the chromecasts werent' visible on the dropdown - it seems that this would be the case with the chromecast, as they're no longer able to get a cast from an insecure source. The docker image (emby/embyserver) has what appears to be a self signed cert in the config folder, and noted in the configuration It seems (i could be reading them wrong) that other users have had issues connecting to their Chromecasts without a certificate, but it also seems that with this certificate i'm experiencing the same issues? Does that mean a self signed certificate would not work for this application (casting to a chromecast intranet only, not forwarded to the internet) and getting a 'real' cert (letsencrypt or somesuch) is whats needed? Luke 37064 Posted March 30, 2019 Share Posted March 30, 2019 Yes that is correct. If the ChromeCast device does not trust your certificate, then there's nothing we can do about that. jdashn 0 Posted March 30, 2019 Author Share Posted March 30, 2019 Maybe i'm doing something wrong, but when i switch over to using the android phone app, and connect to the server, using the http port, i still cannot send to the chromecast.
