mireki1975 4
Hi, need a clarification.... when I download a movie or TV series in iOS App : 1) is there a progress bar ? 2) can I play it when I am in a Flight Mode? (unfortunately I did not find the option) Thanks
legallink 187
There is no progress bar currently for the downloading/sync process. Yes, you can play it when you are in flight mode.

mireki1975 4
oh no, I did not saw the downloads button.....sorry but progress bar would be nice Edited March 9, 2019 by mireki1975
neik 837
but progress bar would be nice That would indeed be nice and not only on iOS but on all OS. Would probably minimize the problem reports (less troubleshooting btw.) here as people now think Emby isn't doing anything although it is actually working. SteveDC 1
It took me AGES to find this post and hence spot that there is a 'My Downloads' (duhh!!!) on the Select Server screen when no internet connection is available. This is OK now I know about it. What I DO think needs to be fixed/changed though is that if you then click on the home icon you get taken to a screen which just sits there forever spinning, trying to connect to the server. There is no way to get back to 'My Downloads'. I think if there is still no connection then it would be a good idea to simply go back to the initial 'select server' option so you can select 'My Downloads' again. Currently if I accidentally click 'home' I need to kill the app and start again. Not critical, but very kludgy!!

dimitrik 12
I have a slightly different problem. I downloaded a bunch of files off my server but when I try to play them on flight mode, it never happens. I get taken back to the server screen and of course I cannot connect to the server. Any thoughts?

dimitrik 12
Indeed I did and then when I tap on a file in order to play it, I get a circle going around and then it takes me back to the Select Server screen.

Luke 37068
What kind of video did you download?
dimitrik 12
One h264 file and a couple of hevc files that the server transcoded to a lower bit rate. All in mkv containers. Does this help?
dimitrik 12
I came back from my trip and now the downloads play just fine as long as I log in to the server. Of course the whole point is to play the files when offline.
Luke 37068
In my testing I'm able to play downloaded videos even with the server being unreachable. Are you running the latest version of Emby Server (4.1.1) ?
dimitrik 12
Yes, latest release version
Luke 37068
Ok, in my testing it seems to work just fine. I would suggest trying again with the next update to the app as there have been some changes in this area. thanks.
dimitrik 12
Ok will do some testing and report back once the new version is out. One thing to mention is that my server is not accessible outside my LAN. But I suppose that can't be a problem in this case since we are discussing offline playback...
Luke 37068
Yea that shouldn't be a problem.
rliepins 9
One thing I am finding if I am remote and not connected to Emby server, I can initally see the downloads and play a file. However, once I try to go back, the app freezes and the circle just keeps spinning. This is pretty unusable if I am on a plane...which is a huge bummer. lightsout 144
I also had issues on a trip recently where I had saved a bunch of stuff offline. Emby doesn't seem to like offline mode and often hunts for a server getting stuck loading. There wasn't often an easy way just to go to my downloads, even in airplane mode I would have to kill Emby a couple times to get it unstuck from hunting for a server. If you wait for it to timeout then you'll be able to click the My Downloads button. It's something that needs to be improved, but in the meantime that will do it. Killing it and starting over would work a bit faster at times.
