will74 5
Hi all, This has happened a couple of times recently after I got my QNAP TS-431P setup as my server with a HDHR-3 as my tuner, and hopefully the logs i've captured can help, but basically, while watching (this time the Grammy's) that were recorded, but still being recorded, I reached a point where I hadn't caught up to live TV yet, but the video just freezes and won't continue to play. I was watching it via a Fire TV Stick 4k. The user's name is The Pensive. I don't think it was due to signal loss as the Grammys were on my local CBS which is far and away the strongest channel I get (all 100% in HDHomerun signal meter). OK - so update, literally while I was writing this message, 20 minutes later, the video just started playing again on my TV (I had restarted the FireTV and tried to start the show over and fast forward to where it got froze. The last file (ffmpeg-directstream-c9a16ead-5fc1-4028-8c8f-992086414b81_1) is from right now after the video started back up. OK, so update again - while I was STILL writing this message (and at 1:21 into the video), it reached the same part of the video that it failed at before and froze again. Please let me know if any more info would be helpful! ffmpeg-remux-ac4add46-c3cc-4610-a977-e69d1ae6f26c_1.txt ffmpeg-directstream-f1726540-3031-42ec-b798-90ac1ea70f9e_1.txt ffmpeg-directstream-c9a16ead-5fc1-4028-8c8f-992086414b81_1.txt ffmpeg-directstream-b2bfca8f-056c-4b5e-9bb0-cad248da4be8_1.txt ffmpeg-directstream-ad957833-995b-4ffa-82e2-92aa49764862_1.txt ffmpeg-directstream-8676b7d0-b606-408f-8412-8aacabcfc0b2_1.txt ffmpeg-directstream-32f1707c-dcaf-4125-80b2-47037efe9b50_1.txt ffmpeg-directstream-1da25c27-3381-4ba4-8096-a886807dc82b_1.txt embyserver.txt embyserver-63685353600.txt
Luke 37113
Hi @@will74, is this only an issue on FireTV? Are you able to play the in-progress recording from the web app?
will74 5
Hmm, well it's only happened a couple of times, and I know this last time I tried to play the same recording from the Web App with no luck. That said, I just tried to go in and watch live TV on the web app and it's playing back audio, but no video and kind of stuttering along.. (live tv appears to be working on the fire TV 4k (mostly, but that's a different thread for a different day) ) I've attached the logs of just now trying to watch live tv on the web app in case they are of any use. It appears to be remuxing the stream, but that's expected as it can't play ts files in chrome. Should it be able to direct play the ts files on the fire tv? ffmpeg-remux-e2f45dfd-3a48-44aa-8971-2c0c544c42d0_1--2019-2-13-1124am.txt
Luke 37113
You denied video transcoding access from the emby user. In other words, you asked for problems, and now you're getting them I would put those back on defaults because the server will already avoid transcoding when possible. Thanks.
will74 5
Ahh, good point! I turned that off when I was troubleshooting something else and forgot to turn it back on! That makes sense as to why I wasn't getting any video in the web app. Do you think that was also causing the issue on the Fire TV Stick 4k? Luke 37113
Yes, most likely.
will74 5
OK, i've re-checked that box and will see if I run into the issue again. Thanks for your help!

will74 5
Thanks for checking in Luke. Since I changed that setting back, things appear to be working as they should. I haven't watched a long event where I am recording it and then I start watching part of the way through (which is the exact problem I had in this case), but will let you know if I run into any issues with that situation in the future. Thanks again for all your help!
