md_heuler 2
I've seen quite some discussion about how emby deals with media directories not always accessible but somehowI couldn't find the right answers to my specific setup idea:I currently run emby server 4.0.1.0 on Linux and I want to setup an archive server with the following features:1. It shall allow for multiple (detachable) hard disk drives (USB or a HD dock). In the worst case only one of these disks will be attached at a time, others can be attached when I want to watch a movie from that disk.2. The Media libraries on emby shall ALWAYS show ALL movies from ALL disks so that I can see which movies I have in my archive and search for specific content. So here is my first attempt/idea to achieve that:I create individual mount points for the different hard disks:/disk1/disk2/disk3...I setup a Media library "Archive" to contain all those folders.Of course I disable "Real time monitoring" and I also deletethe scheduled library scan.I import all disks like follows:- attach disk1 and mount it to /disk1 - goto 'Folder' navigation of library "Archive" and run a scan on /disk1 by right-clicking on the respective icon.- after that I repeat the procedure with disk2, disk3 etc. in effect I see all my media, with meta data ... great BUT If I ever happen to run a full library scan on "Archive"all movies from disks currently not attached are gone andI have to go though the import procedure again ;-( Unfortunately there are situations where I cannot avoid these scans, e.g., when I add another library or change the settings on any library. In this case emby performs the scan automatically. What would already solve my problem is if it could be possible to exclude certain libraries (or folders) from an (automatic) library scan. In this case I would exclude the "Archive" library and could even enable scheduled updates for all other media libraries. I would continue running manual scans as described above to update the "Archive" library. I have also read about some 'offline' marker that emby once used to have. This could be another great improvement. A possible scenario could be to add an attribute 'offline content' to the library (or folder). In this case the full scan would not remove unavailable content but just mark it as 'offline'. In order to deal with actually deleted content in offline libraries (read that this is a semantical issue here) one could still run a full scan limited on a specific folder as described above. This would remove deleted content only from that part of the library that is currently available/attached. Would any of that be something to add to future releases of emby? Does the described workflow make sense to you or am I just trying to use emby for something that it is not designed for? Is there a better setup to achieve my goal? Or do you recomment to just use a different software? Thanks.

Luke 37180
Was there another posting with a server log?
md_heuler 2
I didn't post any server log as to my understanding the behavior of the server (deleting/hiding recordings from detached disks) is not a bug but is done by design. So I thought I would request an enhancement rather than reporting a bug. Am I wrong?
Luke 37180
I believe i have this resolved for the next release, thanks.
