LiquidFX 135
So its been about 2 years since I last upgraded my HTPC so I think I take some bonus money and get it up to speed. It has a hard time playing 4k movies at full bitrate right now so that must get corrected and be able to stream to the rest of the house. Here is what I have right now, thanks for any suggestions. BAlGaInTl 279
That seems like a pretty capable machine already. Specifically what is not working or having difficulty? Seems to me like it should handle it.
LiquidFX 135
It usually works fine, other than streaming 4k and higher bitrate 1080. Plus its time to update those hard drives since they are almost full.
BAlGaInTl 279
What clients are you streaming to? Do you have hardware encoding (Quick Sync) enabled? I don't have much 4K content yet, but I thought that Quick Sync could handle it.
Happy2Play 8296
I don't have much 4K content yet, but I thought that Quick Sync could handle it. HDR (tone mapping) is the current issue when it comes to transcoding.
Guest asrequested
And the sheer strength it takes to do it, which will increase when tone mapping is implemented. And if you're planning on using an Nvidia GPU, I can tell there are ffmpeg issues in this area. I've got HDR media that ffmpeg takes a crap with. And they are direct disc rips. I'm sure they'll work it out eventually, though.
