Multiple IDs for artists?

Hi,

 

I have an users that have a strange library and can't understand.

 

When I list the artists I get all the artists as usual with some ids like ae4d2023bc9c9780aaf76d1e72840af0

 

But when I ask for Albums or Songs the same artist in AlbumArtists and ArtistItems is returned with another id like 56c4c25d49ee8eeb141be46347d715e5

 

The problem is that ID is not returned by anything when querying the artists.

 

Is there multiple IDs for a same artist? How can we get them?

What example do you need?

 

I get all artists via /Artists and /Artists/AlbumArtists

 

The artist Pole is returned with Id ae4d2023bc9c9780aaf76d1e72840af0

 

I then get all Albums and all Songs via /User/UserId/Items with itemType MusicAlbum or Audio

 

For those the resulting Items have AlbumArtists and ArtistItems field filed with an artist Pole but with id 56c4c25d49ee8eeb141be46347d715e5

 

Don't really know what more I can give as it's all the current info I have.

User dropped the library and rescanned and issue fixed.

 

Still wonder if there's possible valid case for that, that I should handle in my app?

It's hard to say without knowing more about how it happened. It could have been caused by a defect in an older server version. Nonetheless, this shouldn't happen anymore going forward.

Ok thanks, so nothing to change I can still assume ID are unique.
