mandalorian2 11
I just got a FireTV Cube which has Alexa voice control built-in. I can start playback on the FireTv Cube using the Alexa skill if I use a different echo. If the FireTv Cube picks up the command though (which is the normal case it being near the TV) it opens a dialog for the skill, says it's going to start playback but then drops back to the home page rather than starting the playback. Angelblue05 4130
What does alexa say when you play via the built-in? Did you set up the skill in the built-in?
mandalorian2 11
What does alexa say when you play via the built-in? Did you set up the skill in the built-in? It says it's starting Playback of [Title] on FireTV Cube. Then it shows the FireTv home screen and nothing else happens.
Angelblue05 4130
I don't see any request for firetv cube, when was your last request? Did you set up the skill in the built-in? Did you sign into Emby connect and all that?

Did you sign into Emby connect and all that? Not sure what you mean by setup on the built-in. I enabled the skill on my phone with the Alexa app, which forwarded me to an Emby page to login and then choose my server. Then the first time I opened the skill it asked me to choose a default player from a list. I chose FireTv Cube. I did some requests just a couple minutes ago first from the built in Alexa then did the same commands using the Alexa app on my tablet. Script was as follows: Me: Open Emby Home Alexa: Emby here what can I do. (when I did this on the FireTv a Grey screen with an Emby icon came up and showed the words it was saying.) Me: Play 30 Rock Alexa: Starting 30 Rock After that when using the built-in Alexa the screen flashed for a moment then I was at the FireTv Home page. When I did the same commands on my tablet the pilot of 30 Rock started playing.
Angelblue05 4130
Ok well there's no access token associated when you are using the built-in. You need to go through the Emby page for the built-in it seems? At least according to the log, there's no information registered and Alexa is returning response: "I cannot find your server information, please sign in to your Emby account." I am looking into it, but let me know if you find any such thing on your side. Edited November 7, 2018 by Angelblue05

I don't, there's no way to enable skills on the FireTv so far as I know skills can only be enabled in an Alexa app and it's enabled at an account level. It did ask me to pick a player on the FireTv the first time and I did. Is there something else?

mandalorian2 11
Might still want to look into this for other users but thought I'd let you know I ended up returning the FireTv Cube, wasn't super impressed by it.
