Hi everybody

I just updated to Emby 3.5.2.0 after being prompted to do so in the Qnap App Center (QNAP Club Repository).

Unfortunately, after updating I can no longer access Emby. I tried restarting the Emby server as well as the NAS itself, neither of which seem to help.

I have a QNAP TS-431P with an ARM Cortex-A15 CPU. I have ffmpeg 3.4.2 as well as QMono 5.4.1.6.0 installed (I just tried to update to 5.12.0.266 but it tells me that the app is not supported for this model.

As I said, everything seemed to work fine right up until a went through with the update.

Any ideas what could've caused this issue?

Thanks in advance for your support, let me know if you need any additional information!

Best,

schogobong

Luke he said he was using the QNAP Club package , In the past my success with their package has been hit or miss. I eventually uninstalled both the mono package and the ffmpeg packages both also from the club repository and installed your package from the official Emby downloads site which if i remember correctly it now pulls in and supplies both those packages as well. The Stable package has to date worked for me. But found best way to install on QNAP NAS was by logging into Emby then shut the server down in Emby's dashdoard. close that then open my QNAP admin and using the App store find the icon and shut it down there also then install or update the app and restart server has worked everytime so far doing it that way have found if skip any of those steps gets mixed results . Only time have had problems otherwise is when playing with the Beta's and i like living on the cutting edge sometimes bite me back though. Hopefully this will help him.  addendum: forgot to say to restart the server again using the Icon in the app store after install or update Sorry about that got distracted by a scam phone call in the middle of typing it out.

Hi guys,

sorry for the late reply - it's been a busy week.

Eventually I just reinstalled Emby and it seems to be working now. Regarding the official release: I'm running an ARM x31, which there is no stable release for yet (at least not to my knowledge).

One thing that I notice after re-installing Emby is that I'm having issues playing (at least) one of the files (replay is extremly slow, i.e. multiple seconds for one second of media). It is a 1080p x265 HEVC. Could it be that I have a wrong ffmpeg path set (current: "/opt/ffmpeg/ffmpeg") or is the transcoding just too much for my NAS to handle? Also, I do have path substitution set to "\\xxxxxxxx.myqnapcloud.com\Multimedia\Serien". Shouldn't it be transcoding directly on my computer (which should definitely be able to handle the file)?

thanks for your support!

Are you playing in the web app? If so, have you checked to see if your browser supports hevc? If it does not, then that is why this is happening. It has to be transcoded on the server, and your NAS isn't going to be able to handle transocding hevc.

Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.

Thanks for your reply Luke!

I tried to play it via chrome, which doesn't support hevc to my knowledge. I'll try it again through Kodi to see if I'm more successful :)

That explains it. You can't compare a web browser to a standalone application such as Kodi or Emby Theater. Web browsers have very limited media support and will often require transcoding.

I seem to be struggling with the same issues. When you say "reinstalled", did you uninstall first?

@@rondeel what exactly is your issue? thanks.

As I've pointed out in another thread, @@Luke, I'm on version 3.4.0.0 (from https://www.qnapclub.eu/en/qpkg/343).Any upgrade from there, and I'm no longer able to reach my Emby server. I have a QNAP TS-859 pro+ with Qmono 5.4.1.6.0. (I could settle without the latest release, but the trouble with 3.4.0.0 is that all the "mordern" clients complain about an upgrade and won't connect any more. So I'm stuck with the web interface, that partly works, and good old Windows Media Centre...)

@@schogobong's solution makes me wonder why/if a uninstall/reinstall would work. And if so, which package and version should I use?
