vaise 307
This is on Emby standard and the emby beta app. Got a number of files that are very jerky recently. New files, never played before. Fired up Blue Neon Night and the ONLY option that plays normally is if I do a 'Force Transcode without stream copy'. Media Info for these files states this below :
Luke 37118
Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. thanks !
vaise 307
An example : If you imagine watching it and the sound is fine, but you are only seeing a frame shot every third of a second ? The emby console says it is direct playing - so no transcode log to attach. Other than taking a video of the jerky playback (but the description above is exactly that), anything else I can provide. That about sums it up.
speechles 1920
What model of roku is this and which firmware version? The roku is very trusting of the mkv header, even when it is obviously wrong. If you remux it with MKVToolNix copying all streams, does it still have this issue? Edit: With the roku, it makes everything into 60fps. The only time it won't is if you enable refresh rate switching. Then it will attempt to match the refresh rate, but on most TV sets, this produces a noticeable effect. The TV may go black for a few seconds as it switches. This is normal, but might be undesireable. https://support.roku.com/article/115012823268-how-to-change-the-display-refresh-rate-to-match-the-native-format-of-each-movie-video-or-tv-show If the MKVToolNix remux doesn't fix the issue, can you enable refresh rate switching and see if that works? If neither works, remux or refresh rate switch, this is likely a firmware issue. Something to ping roku with, perhaps. If this is a roku3 or earlier, I apologize. You cannot use this feature it requires mstar chipsets with quad core mali450, not the older arm chipsets with dual core mali400. And if you do have a roku3 or lesser, word on the street is roku OS9 isn't written for roku3 and less. So these models will likely not get OS9 at all. Stay tuned to your favorite newsfeed to see what information is known about roku OS9. New roku models on the way for Q4 too..no fcc-id to report yet, they haven't filed yet. But since their IPO makes them a public company, their latest SEC documents speak of new hardware. Whether this is just new rokuTV models, or new roku models is anyones guess. https://www.google.com/search?q=roku+site:fccid.io Above is the easiest way to peruse their fcc filings. But nothing new.. speechles 1920
@@vaise, do you still have these files? I was hoping you could roll them through the new beta v3.0 build 110 and see what happens. It might be the same shit show, but it shows need for the force options. We need proof of this to focus priority on them. If these still fail to play on the preset beta, and forcing through blue neon is really the only way to play it. We need to raise the priority on this a bit, and get priorities in order. Video playback is the #1 thing you cannot fail at. Please give feedback. Thanks. Edit: I also added this to the issue tracker. Having videos that will not play is not what Video Brows..uhm... I mean.... emby is known for. so force options may be required if only to do as you had to vaise which was the force transcode without stream copy. Hi Speechless, I did replace those vid's sorry, however the kids have reported this from time to time on some stuff they watch - very rarely, but they know to fire up BNN and for the force with no stream thing to fix them - so have not bothered informing me for a long while. I just came across the new family guy they were watching however and caught them doing exactly that! I am on the latest roku emby beta. I am secretly hoping the new roku O/S upgrade will resolve these little obscure playback issues. media info for this is below :
