Browsing on Samsung App extremely slow

When trying to browse media library, the app sits in a loading state, it's almost unusable when trying to browse the library.  This is not the case when using web-browser, firestick, or roku, only on Samsung, LG and Xbox One apps.

Hi, sorry to hear this.  Could you please let me know what your TV model is and which version of the app you are running?

Ok, with each new update we are working on improving performance. We need to add virtualized scrolling into the app and then that should solve pretty much all problems. It is something we're working on. Thanks.

Understood, is there an ETA for this? I notice the same is for Xbox One and LG as well? Do you expect all these to roll out at the same time?

shocker

Yea we have an approved 2015 release that has been stuck in a state of waiting to launch for a month now.

Just a question, is this fixed on the newer releases? >1.0.45?

As of now loading a 10k library on Samsung Tizen 1.0.45 or LG with 1.0.9 is almost impossible.

question is when is this gonna actually gonna be sorted or looked at

its easy to say "Each new release continues to improve the performance" but it really hasn't at all, it is still dreadfully slow navigation performance with large library's or just freezes for so long, this has been going on for over a year since someone posted about the slow navigating back in july 2017, and we are no where closer to actually having a fix for this odd issue  :o

be nice to know what is actually causing the terrible performance when comes to larger library's only

plex doesn't have this issue on my samsung 2017 tv

I've a Samsung H6700 (running emby v0.122) and experience the same poor performance when browsing the media library; on average it's >10 seconds between (handheld) remote click and change happening.  It's kind of unusable..

My Emby server runs on Synology NAS.  Interestingly, performance is great when viewing library from Windows PC (via Chrome webui), and only slightly worst on my Android tablet (but still acceptable).

Anyway, given the comment in pinned thread "Samsung is no longer taking inputs for their legacy OS as of Oct 2018" I'm guessing this is a good as Emby shall get for my telly:

https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/31461-emby-for-samsung-status-release-notes-tizen-orsay/

@@Luke, does that contradict your above comments somewhat?

So my questions please, are there any device I can plug into my H6700 to experience a better performance?  I'm thinking something like Amazon Fire Stick TV??

Alternatively, if more recent Emby versions perform better, can I host a version on my own Web server and point Sammy telly at it to run a better version?  Is that at all possible?

Many thanks.

Comparing the log file entries between the PC and Sammy TV when browsing the Movies library highlights the poor Sammy performance:

Sammy TV, has (mostly) same initial GET request to server followed by SELECT query (~3 seconds) and long (~10 second) response:

Obviously the client software is different on these two devices, with the newer software (PC) performing much better.

The upcoming 3.6 release of Emby Server will provide considerable performance improvements that I think you'll enjoy.

We are not publishing the source for 3.6 at this time but it's already on the beta channel if you'd like to try it out. Thanks !
