doonze 30
Emby is... verbose to say the least. I've had to modify my rsyslogd setting just to keep my syslog clean enough to use. On both my servers. Even then, my redirected "Emby only" log files are huge. 99.9% is fluff. http 200's, and the normal everyday operations. I understand their usefulness when troubleshooting issues. but when I'm having issues I'm faced with huge walls of text to try and dig through to find errors. Emby's normal logging is akin to debug logging in most other apps. Maybe there are options already I haven't been able to find, but personally I'd like to see either more logging level options or a "views" interface where you could view all logs, or just errors. Maybe something like: 1: Critical Errors only 2: Errors and Warnings 3: All normal logs 4: Debug Sure, I can search the logs, but if you don't know exactly what you're looking for that can still be clunky. Not a top priority, but a thought of something that would make troubleshooting a bit easier. Thanks for all you do DEV team, my lifetime supporter contribution was the best money I've ever spent on software. Love what you guys do. Keep it up!
Dan_Austin 62
I was about to submit this same request, with the addition that it might be handy to split out specific functions to their own logs, like the hardware detection and ffmpeg logs. The first that comes to mind is recordings. I've had a few programs fail to record that I attributed to them not being scheduled for the time frame I was expecting them. By the time I realized that they did air, it was to late to bother to try and explore the logs to find out why.
